  3. Anyone hear a shot yet? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Well I saw 8 deer this morning including a spike, that's a good hunt. The does were in a pond browsing on the apple trees on the bank. It was pretty cool to watch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Figured I'd take a pic to post on my way down. This is what I do in the climber, I move it up as I go up, on the way down I drape it over the cable. Always connected to the tree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Chelsea. Have a safe weekend all! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I'm on team "ears back" all the way Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I just had three does splashing around in the pond below me, then a spike chased them up the hill. One bleated just like the can call Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Maybe the last sit of archery, still looking for a buck. Good luck all. Beautiful morning! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I drove up behind Harwood lake years ago, walked in a few hundred yards in the dark with my climber and found a suitable tree. Got settled in and nearly got a shot at one of the biggest bucks I've seen while hunting. Lucky for sure but it was rut, just get in the woods you never know Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Ive been told that because they arent a prey animal they dont have the flight instinct after theyve been shot, and thats why they typically die in sight. Also that when marginally shot they dont lay down, they go and go and go and recovery is very difficult. Anyway im following this thread because I need to get a rifle for my daughters and was thinking 25-06 or .243, I need something theyll enjoy shooting and not be afraid of recoil
  12. Exactly. Bears are sissies that get way too much credit for being tough to kill
  13. That was the reason for switching but I don't think license sales increased at all
  14. Opening Day? It would have to be a volcanic eruption to keep me out of the woods
  15. Its certainly great for the folks that couldnt get Monday off and now get two days to kick off the gun season
  16. I had the exact same thing yesterday. Great big ten with a doe and he was making sure the three bucks following them couldnt get near her. I really thought that once he and the doe moved on I'd be able to call back one of the younger ones but they couldnt have cared less about my sweet calling skillz
  17. Deer movement will depend on hunters being out there, you gotta go, you never know
  18. Im already feeling stressed about this weekend, rushing down to camp Friday night and its all business getting ready for Saturday. I miss the Monday opener. It was a nice relaxing weekend at camp, doing some bowhunting if I had a tag or just hanging out for a couple days and then the big day Monday. We used to make a big deal out of Saturday dinner, someone would fry a turkey, we'd have the smokers going etc. Now we are in the woods dark to dark both days. Dont get me wrong I love the gun opener I just wish it was still a Monday
  19. Remember 2000? 7 feet of snow over two days, I didn't think I was getting home for thanksgiving
  20. I was last year, not good for the liver... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. I just drove through there and back, wish I would have seen him.
