  1. its not that fine a line considering we drive hours to get there and walk to it in the dark with a flashlight on our heads...
  2. bear hunting in NB a few years ago and we were tracking a friends bear. We were about a quarter mile from the bait site and found about 30 buckets in a little clearing. The guide was psyched, he'd found where the bears take them on him and got his buckets back!
  3. I loved my API Bowhunter I wish I'd never sold it
  4. six pounds is huge, but I won't claim the open shot is comfortable
  5. pet rocks make terrible wind indicators
  6. You will hate that 32lb climber, try checking craigslist there are always summits on there. My open shot is 14 lbs
  7. Those guys he let walk will probably come back. They were literally butchering people, not just killing them to take their houses
  8. i don't think that's a summit it looks like the ones Dicks has in their ad every year. Big Game maybe?
  9. ill post a picture of the seat on my Open Shot to,see what you think. I got tired of hat big block of foam always pushing through the frame
  10. The state land I hunt is an absolute mess on opening day. Dozens of guys drive it all day on Walkie talkies. Back and forth. A warden would run out of tickets. Last year the second day I found two dead deer and a dead porcupine.
  11. Leave earlier so you're in no rush, carry a couple layers with you, get the molle straps, and keep moving around, you'll find the right tree or three and love that stand. If you were to sell it this is the time though, regular season is still a few weeks away. You'll lose $100 or more though but if you don't like it, you don't like it.
  12. I've been looking for years for a pair of thin, somewhat warm gloves that are waterproof.
  13. I hope we get out of this windy weather pattern before the weekend. I'm hunting ducks Saturday then in a stand Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning
  14. I remember losing my turkey tags more than once between deer season and May and going to Dicks and getting new ones printed for $5
  15. From your mouth to Gods ears Lawdwaz! It's funny, when I first started I had several chances at REALLY nice bucks and couldn't seal the deal because I had no idea what I was doing, I'd move, draw at the wrong time, miss, etc. now that I'm pretty good killing deer I can't get a slammer in front of me lol. I have run into a couple giants the past few years though, I'm not whining I swear
  16. I've got none. I've killed 50+ deer in NY, I don't think any were even 3.5
  17. i totally agree. Spend more money on clothes than you do on guns or bows, you won't regret it
  18. is it possible you're just a sissy pants and will never be warm?? Lol I'm kidding, I'm always cold too. I've found a thin merino wool base layer is awesome and then layers as you've said. Carry in a couple so you don't sweat. No cotton anywhere ever, it stays wet. Also a piece of carpet on your stand makes a huge difference keeping your feet warm. Make sure your feet have some room in your boots too
  19. yes, backstraps [emoji15]. And for now you're correct. I'm making the assumption he killed the doe in the WMU he may or may not have a doe tag for.
  20. why can't he? If he can use a DMP he still has his either sex tag
