  1. Sucks when it rains and you want your hood up though
  2. youre always putting weight on one or the other, it doesn't lift up. Buy them from third hand archery, they're made much better. The also make your stand pack tighter and quieter
  3. Third hand straps stay on, they make it easier to pack quietly and also act as the tether while you climb. They blow away the cheap plastic buckles that lone wolf comes with
  4. There are lots of threads on AT with rock climbers, arborists, linemen etc discussing their use, you don't end up upside down and you do end up facing the tree
  5. One thing I do is tell myself exactly what time I'm sitting until and stick to it. That way if I see a monster buck as I'm climbing down I won't kill myself, at least I stuck to my plan!
  6. Early season I probably would pull the plug earlier than I do but my drive is an hour and a half, may as well make it worth it. Although while I do see deer between 10-11 its almost always a yearling buck. in 21 seasons of hard hunting I've never seen a decent buck late morning in the early season
  7. There's an episode of North Woods Law where a game warden lectures a bow hunter for shooting a deer that was too close, he said the arrow needs to build up speed. I about fell off the couch laughing
  8. Exactly. You also left out bare string, no peep, loop, serving, silencers, etc. IBO speeds are rarely obtained
  9. I think a 200 grain arrow would end up half in his fore arm
  10. those guys do seem pretty pleased with themselves!
  11. Yes but at your waist and not up at your shoulder blades
  12. I think youre right, that bow says adjustable from 27-60. I like to be on the heavy side with a hunting arrow. Most of my shots are short and the weight keeps the bow quiet. Play with a KE calculator there are dozens on the web. you can see how speed vs mass changes your KE
  13. No its great, more range of movement in fact. The tether doesnt end up across your neck if you have to turn a long way
  14. 52# is more than enough for hunting im just concerned that you have the limb bolts backed too far out. I dont know PSEs but in most cases 70lb limbs are 60-70 and going below that isnt recommended, especially way below the low end
  15. Some guys make it more sophisticated than it needs to be in my opinion, I have the tether from my old harness, I loop it around the tree and carabiner it to the harness
  16. I stole this pic from another site but this is close to what I use
  17. That's an awesome doe, I hope you do get her aged
  18. Rock climbing harness is the best change I've made in years as far as hunting. It's much cheaper and easier to use, much less restrictive, and from everything I've read it's safer
  19. Did you back that bow all the way down to 52 from 70?
  20. Shake it off and get back at it, you did what you could. Do you shoot with both eyes open? I could never see where I hit until I started doing that. If you consciously start trying to see your arrow you won't be following through
  21. If the first two weeks were "Earn a Buck" in those zones would you hunt?
  22. There are countless threads on this on other sights, many with cardio thoracic surgeons weighing in. It's not debatable, there is no under the spine above the lungs in the chest cavity. Can a deer survive a high lung hit, I guess it's possible they are pretty amazing animals
