  1. We dont use this for the simple fact that it smells, we use another fabric that costs about as much, But i cant remember the name. On our two man ladder stands we wrap them in this fabic and secure it with zip ties. We leave alittle slack at the bottom of the platform so we can enter easier. I think it covers up movement, My father says he feels alittle bit more comfortable being enclosed because he's scared of heights, although I don't know if it would stop a fall.
  2. My furthest buck I have killed was 47 yards. But its nice to have them under thirty, alot less problems exist at close range.
  3. I have a trail cam picture of a coyote peeing in the middle of a trail, Fifteen minutes later deer were walking by, like nothing happened. They could care less
  4. I never thought I would like the vest type either, but I now own one and were it under my jacket and the only negative I have with it is walking long distances with two straps between your legs.
  5. I never used to untill last year. Before bow season i decided to move a tree stand by myself. It was one of those crappy ladder stands that you can buy for $50. I went up figuring that i would unrachet it from the tree and it would still be on enough of an angle to walk down carefully, like i normally do. I never took into consideration how steep of an incline it was on untill i had unstrapped and noticed the ladder wanting to pull from the tree. I reached down to retighten the strap but instead accidently knocked it out of the stand. So i was basically stranded with the only thing keeping the stand steady was my arms. I thought maybe i could just slide down the tree gracefully. But the stand had other ideas, it kicked out, but luckily i was able to grab and stratle the tree, Unfortunately i couldnt control the speed at which i was desending and my shirt lifted up on my way down. At the bottom i was relieved to still be walking but had road rash from the bark on my chest that burnt and hurt like nothing i can remember. now i wear a harness.
  6. I believe they are in the pre rut and have been for a couple of weeks. I have one trail cam pic where a small buck is chasing and smelling a doe. I have also noticed less buck activity on my cam making me believe they have stopped their normal habits and have started chasing does. Im located in southern zone where bow opens tomorrow.
  7. Two weeks ago i put on truglo's Range Rover, I always had a three pin sight previously and decided to switch to a single pin. So far it has been a good investment, even though I never belived I would spend over $90 on a bow sight.
  8. My father owns an older Barnett, i belive a rhino, for many years it sat in the basement because he said the accurracy was horrible. I decided to get it out last year just to see how it shot. I had it perfectely sighted in, let my dad shoot and the bolt struck two feet to the left of the target. Now i was puzzeled, we sighted it in for him and i couldnt shoot it. Recently I purchased a cocking aid, (basically a rope with hooks) , and can and do take vanes off at 40 yards. evidently while cocking, my father and i pulled it back differently with the string being pulled slighty right or left of center. with the rope aid, its exact and we are both tack drivers with it. And yes its both bulky and loud.
  9. What you guys are suggesting are all good points, but what your forgetting is they were shooting 2 3/4 steel not lead, as you know steel loses energy faster thats why there coming out with the Hevi-shot and others. i was not the one shooting. Do you belive its right for a man whos 75 and dieing of cancer and can hardly move, be handcuffed hands behind back and thrown in the back of a cops car? I assure you that I would not want my house to be hit with pellets, but i belive for two men to be handcuffed and arrested is a bit much. By the way the dec officer belived we were ranging the hedge row which was blocking the home, the actually home was closer to 450 yards away. i still doubt however they were hitting the home, being they were shooting at landing geese, not skybusting and the man that reported them was in an low income apartment with many other people and it seemed to bother no one but him. You better be close to pointing straight up if you want the pellets to travel anywhere near that huge distance.
  10. the pellets feeling like rain, was a direct quote from the dec officer who was often hit while patroling lake champlain. the house was in back of an old railroad tressel which is blocked by a large hedgerow. please turn anti-, more room for me
  11. A warning is understandable, any further action in out of the line.
  12. One year ago our hunting group split up, two went to the river while the rest of us (3) went about a hundred yards away to hunt a corn field. Both of the parties were killing geeese untill we were informed by the farmer that a sheriff was on his way. We didint care because we were totally legal. The sheriff marched over to the father who was about 75 and in very poor health and son and screames for them to put their guns down and hands behind their backs. the three of us totally bewildered ran over to see what the problem was. upon arrival we were informed that the two hunters were shooting at a house and the pellets were hitting a man outside. Any one whose hunted waterfowl knows what it feels like to be hit by pellets. Basically like rain. the two were brought to jail even after we explained to the sheriff the house was 378 yards away(Buddy had a rangefinder) the sheriff then told us they were shooting at him when he was talking to the man who had the problems house, even though you could only see the back side of his house. After we had loaded our buddies boat we were greated by 2 encon officers and a state trooper. Like always we were totally legal. They agreed with us and one even ranged the House to find how far it really was. after the 2 were treated like legit criminals they were released w/o their guns. The scumbag sheriff never even had them unload their guns before he hauled them away, how did he know their would be no children around? Actually he forgot to take the guns at all, he had to come back ten minutes later to retrive them.talk about harrassment
