  1. browning gold 10 gauge Hevi-13 4's Dad shoots mossberg 12 with duplex, 4 and 6's
  2. Its hit or miss for us to, birds must be very hot for us to get a responce. I've found a goose call works good, most times better than owl. I agree with Pygmy as long as you dont spook them it cant hurt, but if you believe turkeys are there and they dont talk on the roost, continue to the same spot in the morning, more often then not you'll hear one.Ive had them gobble from the road from accidently blowing my horn.
  3. I dont know about you,................ but you wouldnt find me hunting mule deer there anymore. ???
  4. I have a bushnell omix 200 seems to do just alright in getting signal, inside it wont get anything
  5. Exactly! It was his pet, no threat there until he gets home and the old lady gives him hell for drinken with the yote! I bet they would make an awesome pet
  6. First one reminded me of my dog when we are playing, doesnt look to scary to me. During the summer we used to have a young coyote that would follow our tractor after mowing hay, him and my dog would play the whole time, chasing eachother back and forth A few years ago while turkey hunting in the spring i had a grey fox, literlly walk over my legs while i was sitting with my back against the tree.
  7. hey wildcats were do you go striper fishing?
  8. Thanks, I was debating what height to go i thought the normal ones i use would be to low.
  9. No kidding I just thought id add that in case someone happened to give him a hard time. And id rather set up closer to a house than not at all
  10. Luckily i havent purchased the rings yet but i imagine ill need to go alittle higher than normal
  11. On the water there is no minimum distance to houses
  12. Just canceled my order on the 3-9x40 for 50 bucks more I decided to get the 3-9x50 and its not backordered. Cabelas actually has but a hold on ordering the original scope because their having so many problems with getting them.
  13. Ya I looked all over only one local gun store could get them so I had it ordered. Hopefully once I get my scope it will prove to be as accurate as they claim...........fingers crossed. got the 223 over the 22-250 because of the diference in ammo prices and the fact i enjoy shooting at crows and the like.
  14. I actually got the same scope as whitetailbuckdeer, a nikon prostaff there on sale right now for $99 there originaly $159. I also agree that the clip feels cheap and alittle loose but all the new guns are using the plastic clips- so hopefully it is for good reason. At first I was alittle worried about getting a gun fairly new to the market but I have heard awesome things about them, and its been a struggle to find one to purchase.
  15. Just bought a Thompson Center venture in 223. looks impressive just waiting now for my scope to come from backorder. Ordered scope from Cabelas 2 weeks ago to find scope is backordered untill march. Angry to say the least. I did shoot it and it functioned great, awesome bolt and nice user adjustable trigger.
  16. Silhouettes are great to add quantity to your spread and add as fillers, they look spot on from the side, but realize that geese fly, so there not always looking directly at the side, what happens when they are directly overhead, those big silhouettes look pretty thin i would imagine. We use them in conjunction with shells and full bodied decoys and there very easy to carry alot of them and dont take up hardly any room. Full bodied decoys are the biggest pain in the balls there are. Heavy, they take up way too much room, very expensive and you'll be exhausted setting them by yourself, but they work, and work the best.
  17. sure we try not to shoot untill there a couple feet above the decoys
  18. Cameras make everything more difficult, however i have harvested 3 or 4 deer with them and around 6 or 7 turkeys. the most important is to get a good tripod .
  19. The absolute best are the full bodied Big Foots but there heavy and hard to carry. But I would take two dozen of those over 75 sillouettes.
  20. For geese I wouldnt use less than number twos with bb being the best, fours are perfect for ducks.
  21. We prefer to be actually able to enjoy it, we always add pork fat to the ground venison. I dont like to pretend i'm betty crooker, I just cook what tastes better, which is adding fat.
