Sat in a hot tub @ 4am to warm before I got suited to go out.... was so bright w the moon. I was so still and I could hear every little critter out and about.... so quiet that I decided not to go out ... no way I was going to get anywhere without scaring all the deer to PA.... Another approach, which I use , is using the maximum point blank range (MPBR). If you aren't familiar with it... it basically means that you pick an kill zone for the size of the vitals ... so if you always aim at one point on your deer if the bullet is up x inches or down y inches you'll still hit vitals... So think of your bullet trajectory flying through a (x+y) pipe... common practice is 6" for deer. As the sabot leaves the muzzle it rises in its trajectory until it reaches the top of the pipe (3" high) and then begins to fall to 3" low at the bottom of the pipe.... the distance where the sabot hits the bottom is the max yardage you would shoot center vitals. Nice ... Yeah it's tough country out there, hunted it a few times. Best advice to give besides hitting the stair masters or getting your cardio on..... DO IT IN YOUR HUNTING BOOTS. Seen one to many duct-taped blistered feet on trips out there. Make sure your boots and feet are one. I'm sure you're outfitter and others will tell you, don't be the guy that didn't listen :-) Envious - Been entering the draw for an Elk tag for a specific unit out there for 5 years... Still waiting
