THIS SITE IS BEING REMOVE!

What did you do before the internet? How did you express your freedoms back then? Or are you too young to remember those days? There was always a before, so there will always be an after. It's just easier to hop on a soap box and blat about about shit using a keyboard. You're right though, I would never want my freedom to say "This is a hunting forum, not a political forum." taken away. Or have my right to an opinion be blasted or ridiculed on a forum...... Oh wait......... That does happen, and even right here, as well as many other forums. Say something that's not in line with the the cool kids and you're in for a ride. Freedom of speech has been in question for a long, LONG time! It's bloated ego's that hinders it. It's my way or you don't matter points of view that kill freedom of speech. That there is a fact and no one with any common sense needs to find a sheet stating it to know it. I have to go get some items to make some knives, you know, something productive. So I'll see my way out of this thread that was created to do just what it did. Make blabbering fools out of a lot of people. -

Some of you guys will squawk at anything, good thing you aren't turkeys ( the jury is still out on that by the way ), you wouldn't make it too long in the wilds reacting to a fart in the wind. Any reason to go off on a tirade of incessant over the top political rants. What happens if they do take web sites down? Are you really that addicted to a freaking electronic device or web forum that you would stop breathing? It's the same old dance, neither side wants the other to have a say. NEITHER SIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
That would make sense. We all know that no matter what, a lot of things the Bills do is beyond head scratching reactions over the past couple decades. I could name many mistakes, but the biggest that comes to mind is Chitspatrick. Like I said earlier in the thread, these games are Buffalo's to loose. Will it be "All The Way We Got This!", or "Lets shoot ourselves in the foot just to see what happens!".
-
We get it, you were at a playoff game. You state it enough, no need to double post about it. If Cleveland plays the Chiefs like they did the Steelers it will be Gohomes, not Mahomes. GO BROWNS! I can see Buffalo beating the Ravens. I'm a huge skeptic when it comes to my team, too many let downs over the years. Yet I think if they keep it together they can beat anyone right now though. I really wish we had more of a running game other then Allen. He takes too many risks when he runs the ball. We need a running back that goes forward, not sideline to sideline.

I think you all just got trolled by a guy with a buzz and a screwed up sense of humor. Think about it people- the OP has no access to the CPanel or any other areas that are for the Admin/Owner, so how the hell would he know if a site was being warned about removal? Sheep. -
I would love to be able to scout with boots on the ground, but a three hour drive one way isn't going to allow that to happen. I don't use phone apps. . There's nothing wrong with them if that's your thing, they just aren't mine. I'm thinking at the least, this is going to be one hell of a fun adventure. Self torture? Absolutely! Worth doing it any way? Bet your ass it is to me! If I remember right from hiking this area there is an opening on top of a crest that had some black cap and raspberry bushes. In the bottom there's oaks. It would mean more if that time of year they were producing anything, but there will be no fruit on bushes and any nuts on the ground ( besides me ) well be left over from last year. Over all the area is maple, ash, and pines mainly.

Not most people's cup of tea, but a good sturdy fixed blade knife will do a lot of wood processing. No such thing as one tool for all things, but give me a good fixed blade and I'll get wood processed. A few years? Guess inviting you out in better temps is out of the question then. Glad you didn't turn into a popsicle.

The great thing with these are it's like a canvas wall tent, you don't need the poles. You can make them from small diameter downed trees and some good cordage as your frame.

I'm thinking @Buckmaster7600 went on a beer run at some point and stayed in the house. I was hoping for a play by play trip report. Setting up the shelter, making the fire..................

That's why I said earlier in the thread panic is the #1 cause of death. If you don't have the right gear to help you get through a tough spot you will start to panic which causes one to stop thinking rationally. That's why I practice things even if I have to do them out in my back yard. I would rather know I have a skill set to get through things, and know my gear works before I get neck deep in shit with no shovel. Fire kits contain the matches, a ferro rod and striker, flint and steel, and a few different tinders.
-
I invested in some stock from a site that sells shirts. I got burned pretty bad.
-
Added the HS Strut to my wish list on Amazon along with some chalk. Just talked to one of the other dudes going on the trip and he's only bringing a slate with a rosewood striker. He's not big into turkey hunting but in case there's still ice on the water he's bringing options LOL.
-
I have 5 of those and one of the strikers in every fire kit I have. Those small kits are in every pack I take into the woods.
-
The snow shelter is a good idea. Taking 15 minutes to make a small fire reflector is also a good way to keep the heat going back into your shelter.

It's very hard to take you most times. One never knows when you are being a dick or trying to add anything valuable. Like me, your past activity will haunt you here for a longtime.
-
That's how to do this simulation! Nothing but the clothes on your back! Nice selection for padding on the bed too!

Way to go adding context! A dream about your kid, a comment about derailment ( which you brought nothing to the table except your usual flare, nothing of value ), and a GIF of you on any given Saturday night at a local bar advertising. I reckon that GIF is actually appropriate seeing you live in Dicksville. I watched a few videos of the box calls I mentioned, not so much for the video but to try and hear what they sound like. I will probably end up buying an HS Strut box sometime in February early March and start getting some practice. It sucks when there's no place close by me that I can go actually see the calls up close.

And wash it down with compass fluid.

You're waiting until June to hunt turkey this Spring? I was not aware they opened June for turkey hunting. I think I'll just head out in four months like the season dates "suggest". DEC sort of like it when we follow those dates.
-
Bill, he/she hasn't replied to this thread again, so why not take your own advice and just let it go. You are now the one throwing sparks on the embers to reignite the fire. Don't be the pot calling the kettle black.
-
If you're putting it on someone else's land I would go with the canvas tent and a good wood stove. Even just on here you can read some horror stories of people losing land that was even being leased. If something were to go wrong you can use/move a tent elsewhere a lot easier then a building. Then you have to look at how a building will effect the owners taxes. Unless it's on wheels like a travel trailer and considered readily moveable there's going to be taxes.

I haven't done this specifically in a long time. Not since my late 20's. I do run a lot of things like practice fire making, shelter building, and a few other tasks a few times a year to keep skills sharp. Over the past few years I spend a lot of time in my yard dialing things in so in the event I get turned around I don't flip out. Panic is the #1 killer when people get lost. I do have a plan for this Summer or Fall to only put a few things in a small pouch and tin, and go out for a full day and sleep out there with only what's in my pouch on a patrol harness. No pack, no water, and probably no food. Small fire kit of flint and steel, a good size tin like an Esee to be able to boil water for consumption, and a small amount of fishing gear. 24 hours isn't too hard, even in the cold as long as you have a way to make a fire. A water source is great but not always possible. I have no advice to offer as you were in the military, so I'm certain you know how to set up your pack for the trip. Good luck and make the best of it.

AFC Championship game- Ravens V Bills. KC gets knocked out because Mahomes gets C19 from making all those stupid commercials and can't play.
