  1. State Put that there to cover their ass if you call the park they will tell you don't call just kill on site My property almost boarders this park couple hundred yards away & I can say the there are a lot of hunters hunting them year round have people in my back yard regularly the ones that do get out do not usually survive a month or so it is not like hundreds get out at a time. IN NH you don't need a license to hunt your own property all all land not posted is legal to hunt considerd like Public land
  2. the state is not making any money on boar hunting You need a license to hunt in NH no matter what it is those fees are for general hunting licenses NOT just for wild boar
  3. Um yes they have torn up a lot of neighborhoods in NH as soon as word gets out there are tons of hunters on their trail the reason they have not exploded in population is they are killed quickly & the park has spent a boat load of money to reinforce their fencing & is now patrolled around the clock "Some of you should make money with all this knowledge you have stored up!" And Really do you have to be an ass all the time? I was pointing out the fact that they do live & can survive in Cold climates State wants nothing to do with them NO closed season Park says kill on site as they have had to pay a ton in damage their pigs have done
  4. wild Boar can & do thrive in cold climates. We have wild pigs here in NH stated in a preserve & over the years a lot have escaped luckily hunters have kept them under control. quite a few years ago one was shot over 75 miles north of the preserve & roughly 1 hour from the Canadian boarder
  5. Correct you can tell by the action & the Barrel that is a 44 Carbine not a 10./22 they were made from 1961 - 1974 they were a great brush gun & worth way more for what they sold for
  6. why you passed on the first deer sounds like the right call as for the second like others have stated it is all up to you to decide what you want to hunt. 43 years old & I still don't care about the size of the rack it is about meat in the freezer but that is me. I can't stand when "trophy" hunters pick on people for shooting smaller deer when they could care less about the deer & only care about the rack. To me it is up to the hunter to make that call! you paid your money just like the next. Nobody should tell you you are right or wrong go out enjoy what god gave us & take what you feel is what you are after
  7. Yes they can It all depends on how much fat they put on & how long the snow lasts Also think if they are still with Mom they have a better chance of surviving
  8. HAHA My wife asks me how many guns do I need my answer ALL OF THEM! about the same answer for for hunting gear just wish I had the cash to do so
  9. Thoughts & prayers to all those that are affected. heard there were some deaths & a bunch stranded
  10. that is not good for the deer if it lasts long. really not good for the Bucks as they are losing weight due to the rut. If it crusts over this would be even worse as the predators can walk on top of the crust as the deer will have to try & plow through it We go through this many winters here in NH & is why we have a fair amount of winter kill here when the snow gets deep here we go snowshoeing to try & pack trails for them 3'-5' at once probably wouldn't be able to. Just hope it warms back up soon
  11. Nice Buck Congratulations to Dave

  15. Size doesn't matter You will never forget your first deer a Big Congratulations to you!
  16. WOW! That is just Awesome It doesn't get any better then that. Congratulations to both of you!!!!
  17. Belo I could in the last few years we have seen very few does on the state land we hunt & have taken 5 bucks in the last 3 years but yet the 4 -5 of us still get 2 doe tags each I just think AR's is not the right thing to do unless it is for population increase if all hunters are paying the same price for a license then that hunter should have a right to kill a deer he/she seems fit Just as some want a huge rack some want the meat I say leave it up to the hunters to decide
  18. Well for us we love seeing the # of deer NY has to offer that is why we have been hunting NY for years if there were a statewide AR we would go elsewhere for 1 week of hunting we are looking to fill some tags, Have fun & not have to drive cross country. Would suck to have to start over somewhere else Naples area has been great to us, people are friendly but main purpose is to fill the coolers. If the state/hunting community wants bigger bucks so be it. I know a lot of people that hunt NY for the reasonable price & wont if it becomes a high $$$ hunting state don't expect many to care how I feel just thought i'd share my feelings on it
  19. OK maybe this is a dumb question but in the areas that have AR's why were they implemented & to the hunters that support them what would your reason for implementation? Article from NH fish & game we had an antler restriction in part of NH but was removed 4-5 years later but season ends 1 week earlier then the rest of the state. here is an article I found on NH Fish & Game's site whether for them or against them I thought it was a good read AntlerRestrictionsArticle.pdf
  20. I agree with Philoshop I would give it one more look a lot of us have been in that position & it is good you feel the way you do it sucks to lose an animal & it should feel that way & that you learn from your mistakes. IMO if you dont feel bad after something like this & learn something from it you shouldn't be hunting. Again I would give it one last look even though it has rained & chances may seem slim Good Luck
  21. Good luck still have faith you can find that deer
  22. Yeah & I could not find one quick with the skeletal system Grow I was thinking the same I do think he hit something major Deer are relentless & have a strong will to survive it can amaze you what they can endure Still think the best is to wait it out may take time but I think you should find a dead deer
  23. I assumed it was a broadside shot
  24. I agree with Culver I don't think that is a bed site did not see the discription at first & would also give it more time Hair brown or white & when you last stopped are you still seeing blood
