  1. 480 super red hawk 45 super Blackhawk hunter last I wish ruger would make a 41 magnum gp100
  2. I am 45 now and I bought my lifetime big game and archery and my wifes life time archery 6 years ago very worth it to me. I plan on hunting a long long time and it is nice getting it mailed to us...
  3. I got 8 so some dirt is older than me..
  4. a slob hunter is a slob hunter no matter the weapon. i agree with the op 100% but guys taking unrealistic shots happens with any implement - bow/gun/cross bow/ muzzleloader..
  5. before you spend a penny you need to see what your draw length is and see what the bow is set at. you can do all this at a quality Mathews dealer I think that you can still order any cam from Mathews incase the draw of the bow is not same as you.
  6. oh sir, I am enjoying your reasons and explanations on how and why you made the shot..
  7. interesting indeed I quit bow hunting mornings long ago because it seemed that I was kicking more deer than seeing. also the last few years during gun season my wife and I have had better luck early / mid day than first / last light..
  8. the thing that bothers me is not the shot but the fact that you had no idea what the x-bow shot with the second dot on your sight, a responsible hunter will know said hunting implement in /out/ up / down so its second nature. they make a nifty little gadget called a range finder that will tell what the yardage is. nothing wrong with taking difficult shots as long as the person is prepared for the difficult shot, but to hope and poke at a live animal is irresponsible. and by the way my freezer is full and gets filled yearly to the max with venison all with out a (I pray I make this shot).
  9. to answer your question a string stop does many things quiets the bow string with out slowing it down (granted its only a few fps but hay) keeps the string from hitting bulky sleeves from hunting coats, some say it gives the arrow a more consistent release from the string because the string stops at brace the same all the time. having one out weighs not having one. if your bow is 10 yeas old then I would get a new one. I did ,shot my 2004 hoyt till spring and bought a 2014 hoyt and wow night and day, but if your bow is a few yrs old maybe shoot a few new ones but keep a open mind on if they really are better.
  10. looks like a weak point that could break...
  11. elite ny hunter hit it on the head, I remember those days of party permits. heck now between bow and gun hunting and d.m.p permits its not very hard to fill the freezer. I love shooting good bucks as much as the next guy but I love me some venison.
  12. yes I did, the slug exited the brisket. I was very pleased with the performance of my loads.
  13. shot my first deer this year with my 357 Blackhawk with red dot and hand loaded 180 grain hard cast with 13.5 grains of 2400 clocked over my chronograph at 1300 fps. shot her at 60 yards and it just obliterated her close side shoulder she ran maybe 50 yards...
  14. first hello to all so how is the deer hunting in the two state forests. thanks
