  1. I tried a single pin slider sight and I didn't like it . didn't like moving the pin to the marked yardage in the heat of the moment to much movement . How I set up mine my wife's and boys sights is I use green for 20 , yellow for 30 and red for 40 . this i find works well for us because green is go , yellow slow down and red stop take your time . We all do well splitting pins for yardage gaps and it works out pretty good . Really you need to just buy or borrow s single pin to try because you may love it .
  2. well I have never kept track of cost, but I buy construction adhesive by the case, 5 lb tubs of deck screws and I bought the paint at home depot it was a 5 gallon of there oops paint ,but I think I got the 5 gallons of exterior paint at like $40 bucks. you could easily figure it up just decide on your height and width/ length of the platform you want and figure in your rungs etc . the entire reason I started building them was the wife did not like how unsteady the store bought ones felt when she climbed them and I hated the lack of foot room and she likes the big plat forms it makes her feel safer and I like them as I can stretch out the legs (I am 6-3).
  3. That's great , keep up the good work dad . And tell her nice shooting .
  4. No offense at all , but that stand has been in that tree for months now plenty of time for deer to get used to it by October . We have hunted out of these type of stands for many years and have killed lots of deer from them . Besides deer are color blind .
  5. Trust me my wife texts me enough she dose not not need any help and she hunts with me.
  6. First hour in stand I am on my phone, after that it's watching listening for deer . I have blown a few shots on deer because I was on my phone so first hour and then gets put away .
  7. sorry about the sideways photo, thought it was upright before I posted. but thanks for the compliments. this is one of 8, the platforms are 2 feet wide and 3 ft long. they are super rigid, I assemble with construction adhesive and 3 inch deck screws,i use chains to attach to the tree with a long threaded bolt to draw tight.
  8. Was up on lease Saturday spraying trails and snapped a pic , thought I would share.
  9. Hunted with a H and R 12 gauge single shot for years then went to a 870 and shot a ton of deer with it ,now I hunt with Super red hawk with 9.5 inch barrel in 44.
  10. I haven't shot the 14 grains over my chronograph yet with this bullet but when I was hunting with my 357 black hawk I used 13 grains of 2400 under a 180 grain hard cast and I was getting consitant high1290 to 1300 fps out of that load.
  11. Yep I do and it's a lot cheaper to reload than buy in the long run wife and I hunt with revolvers mine 44 SRH with 21 grains of 2400 under a 240 grain xtp have had great results . Wife's is a gp- 100 357 mag , 158 grain xtp over 14 grains of 2400, first year but tons of positive reviews from guys using the 158 grain xtp on deer. I will be reloading for the boys 30/30 and my grand dads 300 savage for next year though .
  12. yep , plus made a whole bunch of other stuff that we should not have ..

    Bow Blow Up

I change my string and cables every 3-4 years no matter what. I would rather spend the money on knowing I am good to go instead of having to spend the money so I am good to go..
  15. That's really to bad , but as you said could have been way worse God forbid if it had latched on to your lab good or your wife . Wife should carry Pepper spray or CC I had my wife always conceal carry when walking the dog because our golden was a lover not a fighter. Glad it worked out ok.
  16. first nice ruger, second consider a red dot. a 44 is good for 100 yards and down and one really doesn't need a scope, wife and I love our redots. I can hold 2 inch groups at 100 yards with my SRH .and the only mount you will be able to buy to mount any optic is the b-square mount unless you are going to drill and tap, but why ruin the revolver. as for ammo if you don't reload, google 44 deer hunting ammo tons of offerings. myself I load 240 grain xtp's over 21 grains of 2400. wife and I hunt only with out pistols during gun season..
  17. Larry thanks for the tip but I don't really have a problem with my 2400. I clean my revolvers after every shooting , plus I like to load down for when we are plinking and I don't have to use magnum primers. 2400 being a bit dirtier is not that big of a deal breaker as I feel it's a more versatile powder for me .
  18. The lady that cut her hand with the axe , I thought she had a great camp and would have lasted. Now the heavier set lady that yelled at the momma and cub bear and left because she didn't like getting angry WTH was that all about .
  19. Brian does very good work ,I had him dip my wife's bow in muddy girl camo ( a picture of it is on his web site) he did a outstanding job it was dipped a few years ago and still looks new . I also had him do some deer antlers bases for me very happy .
  20. I now hunt with 9.5 inch barreled super red hawk in 44 with 240 grain xtp's and 21 grains of 2400 ,I started with a 357 Blackhawk that I shot 180 grain hard cast over 13.5 grains of 2400 and had very good luck with it.my wife will be going out this coming season with a 6 inch gp-100, hers and mine topped are with ultrdot red dots..
  21. Isn't it funny just how dense we can be , we all have done it . Live and learn ????
  22. Just another way of big brother watching you , but I would say the biggest down fall would be the states would lose out on a tremendous amount of money . No more tickets for speeding , accidents, general trafic violations etc . Think about the money the courts would loose no more court fees .
  23. I disagree with you don't have to worry about your axle to axle length on a compound , I am a true 32 inch draw and would not consider shooting anything below a 34 inch axle to axle bow. Yes one doesn't have to worry about short AtoA bows being touchy to shoot like some older models but some long AtoA bows are just a joy to shoot.
