Still hunted all day yesterday, I jumped a really nice buck at 830 and was on him for a few hours never able to get a clean shot. I had a shot at 55 yards through some cover and just couldn't convince myself it was an ethical shot. Later I jumped two nice doe and dropped on in her tracks at 160 yards when they slowed. Awesome day in the woods! Got back to the truck and had 9 inches of fresh snow on it.

Awesome thanks for the info guys! I'm now researching what exactly I want for my first purchase, I had a while ago but started to think it wouldn't happen lol. And thanks alot for the offer turkey feathers I will definitely be in touch, and try to open up an evening to do some shooting.

Just got home and had a letter waiting The day finally came and I was granted my permit. It's for Target and hunting, I will apply for unrestricted in a year or so and maybe get it. Really happy!

I do drive in Rochester and surrounding areas kinda frequently, definitely possible. I'd likely have had a trailer in tow lol.

Update- Truck is in the shop being fixed, finally. Had estimates from 1400 to 5000 and settled on a build somewhere in the middle.

Snow forecast sucks wanted to hunt tomorrow but I am driving a Hyundai while my truck is being fixed lol so idk.

We still hunted for a few hours, cut some relatively fresh tracks but had another hunters tracks on them so worked down the steep ravine and set up for an hour which is where the deer we're spotted.

Here's a small write up about today, It was my first time ever on state land so didn't know what to expect, I had a new Hunter with me as well. The state land itself I actually like alot, lots of ridges small and large, some thick pine areas, lots of hardwoods, etc The parking was very easy and there's a road that runs through almost the entire 1300 plus acres, almost through the middle, offering plenty of spots to park. We only ran into two other Hunter's and saw lots of deer sign although not tons of fresh sign. Saw those three I mentioned but we're also only out for a few hours. Overall I'd like to go back for another walk on some more of the land to check it out more, maybe even during muzzleloader.

Went to East Otto state forest for the first time

Froze my balls off and had a group of three come in, I was with a new Hunter and told him to shoot one of the two big ones. I watched as he squeezes one off over the back of the Tiny one lol. Oh well on to muzzleloader. I would have lined one up and shot and tried for a double but only have the one doe tag so figured he'd get first crack.

Headed to state land for the first time ever. Have a doe tag and not afraid to use it!

40 plus hours so far this week, 12 today 12 tomorrow and I'll be out Sunday can't wait lol.
