  1. why dont you ask that poor kid linked on this page next season when he has dumbasses following him on redman rd. I bet hes not happy about your site leading to the exact rd the buck was shot on. a county is fine...but narrowing down to the town is insane. you should make a rule to elimate any comments talking about specific location. so really your site doesnt ensure legitamacy at all because people can lie about it, but again when someone tells the truth, their spot gets blown up. that link is a perfect example.
  2. yes I did. and I retract that. writing about kills and not giving info is one thing. posting state class deer...another topic.
  3. I didnt apologize to anyone. I didnt meet my personal goal.next time dont quote me when you make a comment like that. I can safely bet most people thought you wrre rellying to me.
  4. the slammers are dead. thats why I ultjmately post them. slammers on their feet dont generally get posted amd I dont post any info on them. I also hunt five counties.
  5. it sure is and I bet redman rd gets alot more trespassing, more hunters asking for permission, etc.
  6. the fb page has alot more volume of deer fap fap fap material. have to include some info such as county. but its the comments that usually end result in the problems ive stated.
  7. theres a saying loose lips sink ships. but the end of the saying was dropped in vernacular eons ago. the full saying is loose lips sink ships and im the cannon. you can make a case about posting a hanging deer in your garage but im telling you, people can and will find out more info than you want to share. people who dont know you but know an acquaintance can pull gobs of info...like say a husband of your wifes co worker. its not fun to have it happen to you.I dont even tell the landowner the deer I shoot there because I dont want to lose the lease. heck one time I overlapped an acquaintances hunting ground by accident, sending a couple letters to the landowners. I merely carpet bombed the area with letters and didnt know he hunted there. if I did I wouldnt have sent those ones out. he came knocking on my door freaking out. he lost sleep over it. but he also kills very big deer and im sure people probably move in on him on purpose.
  8. why dont you contact teebug and jrs. both posted pics or maps and both of them were discernable. jrs posted a 150 in buck pic and I was able to name the landowner and parcel within five minutes. he included info in his post that he thought harmless. best part was he included a map of where the buck was bedding! same with teebugg this week. so its not far fetched at all. and in small towns its easy to find out where someone hunts simply by seeing their truck parked. if you look at the fb link the comments on that kids buck are ridiculous...arguing about score and then some asshat posts a q about whether it was shot on redman rd. seriously, what if thats true? how would you feel if you were that kid? Id be pissed. I dont blame anyone for not posting pics. a state class buck, esp. one that is just shy of the top spot, will only make your life miserable.
  9. listen, you are barking up the wrong tree. its not my place to post the pic. did I say it was a record? no. so go pound sand somewhere else where you can cry about not knowing about the buck because its not on your horn porn site.plus who cares thaf its about the deer and not the hunter. bottom line is today people who blab about their deer have issues. your fb page is full of comments - where was it shot? was it shot on redman rd? and so on and so on. the impact on the hunter may be more than he or she is willing to tolerate. your site is a perfect example actually.
  10. I've had a tough time with my Vortek UL. I'm losing the barrel on it from the outside in unfortunately. The gun has cerakote but developed rust spots on the outside. It sat inside my house during my flood in the summer. I got all other guns out but that one was on the second floor near a vent that lets hot air up and cool air down to the lower level. Unfortunately I had bigger fish to fry at the time and simply forgot that I had stored it away from my other firearms. It was there for about a week before I remembered. The water moisture in the house was just too much. The inside of the barrel and the rest of the gun are fine however. I also seemed to have developed a cross-thread issue with the breech. It's plenty shootable, but I'm not hopeful or much interested in trying to save it at this point. I can shoot it for the remainder of the season. As much as I really enjoyed that MZ, I'm in the market for a new one at some point between now and summer. Honestly, I'm probably going to pick up a SS Wolf. Cheap, but a fair shooter. With my H&R Ultra Slug, I don't carry the MZ much in regular season any longer, so I can't justify the cost of another high-end MZ for a 7-9 day season where I get out for 2-3 days at most.
  11. Let's connect at some point. I'm always interested in Ohio hunting. NW Ohio is a bit tougher reputation wise than other parts of the state. Central Ohio is nice. Most of my hunting is central and north central. I'm located in Rochester but have some access between the two cities. There is some great deer hunting in NY, but its not in large, on caliber with quality Ohio ground. Some public land can be great, I won't discount that at all. But, again, private land is often better, but much more difficult to obtain access to.
  12. They can. I'm not, however. I don't feel it is my place. It was passed along to me in confidence. I entrusted a few people I know from this site with pics of the larger bucks I had on cam this season and not one of them made it to the forum before me and Moog posted them. Some people simply don't want others digging around to find out where they hunt. I know if I shot a 200" buck, I'd be darn sure to protect the location of kill as much as feasibly possible. I don't even know if I would post it online to be honest. People do stupid crap for big deer.
  13. I went ADL because I don't mind the plate and having to unload it. It's only going to see a handful of days of use a season. Plus, I'm likely going to put a Boyd's thumbhole stock on it anyway.
  14. I don't think the early opener was a contributor at all. If anything, the earlier, colder weather was a bigger deal. I don't mind the cold, but it gets old fast if you are not getting onto the bucks you want to target regardless of how you vary your tactics.
  15. what part of ohio you from? ive hunted there some.
  16. no thats not it and that buck isnt sniffing 200.
  17. The LW is much more quiet. That's big. NO "tink" sounds. It does take some re-training if you are used to a Summit. I will say getting a hazmore seat is probably a smart idea for the S and C models.
  18. I'm about "deer'd out" myself. I figure I have one good day of hunting left in me for deer season this coming weekend. Family obligations and personal projects I have lined up that I want to get started on are helping me come to grips with the close of another season. Normally I enjoy MZ more than regular season.
  19. Reviews of the 783 put it in the Ruger American ballpark, but most of the editors, etc. give the nod to the American slightly. While it's going to be another economy rifle, it's probably not going to be 770 caliber crap long-term.
  20. With as many thing that randomly fall in my garage, wrenches, beer, etc. I don't think tile would be my first choice. I think epoxy looks nice when prepped and done right. It's on my summer list - which at this point is growing by the minute it seems.
  21. 770 is horrible; nothing compared to the 700 action.
  22. I own: LW mini sticks LW full length sticks LW Alpha LW hand climber LW sit and climb LW wide sit and climb Summit Cobra XLS (open shot predecessor) I only have the summit because a friend who quit hunting left it behind for me. You can tell where I sit (or stand) on the topic.
  23. 18" is usually the standard in discussions. Although it applies to scoring, I couldn't care less, I personally love high tight massive racks (don't we all?).
