Anyone have a problem with this post.

People who say there is no reason to shoot a fawn are uneducated about deer, deer biology, and what current management practices have laid out given the current science. There are reasons and scenarios where shooting a fawn is biologically and management-wise. Period. As for the pic/comment - it's twisted, but I also understand how "jokes" can be within circles of friends/hunters and sometimes the jokes can take on a life of their own. I am against the grain on most in that I'm not overly agitated or disgusted by a hunter posing with blood or less than mag quality photography skills. My favorite pic has been and always will be the buck in the back of the truck, and I have said that here before a time or two. Preserving the memory to me isn't always about making sure the tongue is tucked in and the blood carefully wiped clean off the snout. When I walked up on it, it wasn't wearing a tuxedo. It had a hole in it and was bleeding. Posting them, case by case basis, I guess, and must be taken into context with the intended audience and the non-intended audience. But, in the end, if a pic I deem OK is not by others, then that is fine. -
Not having a dove season is a letdown, coming from VA, where dove season was the first season of the "hunting" seasons each late summer/fall. While my life has gotten much busier and I can only make enough time to chase whitetails and a few days for turkey, I'd probably squeak out a half-morning to get a plate-full of dove each year if it were legal. I support a dove season 100%. It's a great way for kids to get involved in hunting and shooting and quite frankly, makes them a better shot imo.

I have this belief with squirrels that I only see them in droves when I have nothing on me while checking cams or moving stands, etc. When I set out to find them darn things, I am lucky if I come home with one of them. I'm the world's worst squirrel hunter, lol.

If you say every buck is 2.5 (given hunting season timeframe), you'd naturally be + or - one year of that 90%....I doubt the buck population of 4.5 and up is more than 10% of the statewide herd make-up. If it is, it ain't by much.

This snow and the temps sucks. Feels like Feb and not December. I got out for one morning of MZ. Talk about a giant letdown. I have quite a few cams still out, and in places I don't want to venture with this snow and temp. It looks like a slight above freezing weekend as far as the highs go, so maybe I can sneak out one day and try to grab them all. Bonus is I have a cam and two blinds to retrieve at the one spot where there are a few black squirrels. I'll be toting the .410 and sitting for the first 20-30 minutes of light to pick one off and then get busy packing.

Powerbelts are known for fragmentation. Great accurate round for the range, but many people feel its not the best choice for a hunting option. A lot of people like Barnes, Hornady SSTs and XTPs, Harvestors, No excuses, etc. I have shot Powerbelts in the past, and I have to say I doubt I'll ever shoot them again after personal experiences.

Check stations in places like Ohio were NOT all run by DEC personnel. Many mom and pop places signed up to be check stations. I'm sure the financial reward wasn't much but in conversations I had, they did it to bring in business. Sort of like how many small independent gas stations don't make much money on the gas....it's on the soda and beer and cigs, and candy, etc.

Isn't it ignorant to have a prejudice without seeing the movie? I mean, what if that movie is biased and blabs out facts that twist the truth or something in favor of HSUS or animal rights people? It may or may not, but it's equally ignorant to have that prejudice as you think Doc may have on the other side of the fence without even seeing it. I don't know what my thoughts are on it, personally, other than its a slippery slope. Whales, then Silverbacks, then chimps, then next thing you know, that Goldfish in your kid's room is paroled for being a fish.

Maybe there are legit problems with SeaWorld and this whale and the process/practices they have. But, it's been sensationalized by CNN. No different than Newtown (not in stature but in practice). The music impact is that most of these groups were scheduled to perform at SeaWorld or had their music played during the whale shows. They've cancelled or requested their music not be associated with the show.

And, for what it is worth - many of east coast states (east of the MS river) that are the MOST GUN FRIENDLY and GUN SUPPORTING, have plug restrictions while hunting. I firmly believe it has nothing to do with "gun control" and more to do with fair chase or ethics or some other reason. I grew up hunting in VA shotgun ground where you can run dogs, shoot buckshot or slug...but you still had a 3 shell limit with a plug. Back in the day, we'd run slug, buckshot, buckshot in the smoothbores when hunting (mostly close range). Maybe because I am familiar with it, but I have ZERO qualms about a three-shot cap and plug.

See Quote. I'm not against the Ute season, although I don't believe in the rationale. I just think the timing is ill.

Sold pending funds. I should have had a higher asking price, lol.

Sold.

Kindle is Amazon owned so pricing will be straightforward. One thing to look at is tablet size 7" doesn't sound much smaller than say a 10" model, but it has significantly less viewing area. Make sure if she gets the 7" or "mini" tablet size - that it is indeed what she needs. Some people want the smaller more portable version, but some find the screen too small.

Thanks for moving on. I don't need to PM; you posted on my thread. I'm not interested in talking to you about your finances, nor should you be mine.
-
You have a gut, don't you Larry? LOL.

As a non-staffer do you have to pay for the cameras? How much money do you make per year? What's your retirement portfolio amount? Look, I'm not trying to be rude here, but I don't ask you questions about your personal finances, and I'd appreciate it if you'd do the same. It's not very polite. Please try to keep the unrelated posts to a minimum or make your own thread or PM me or something. I'm just selling the camera on this thread.

PM me and we can figure out a few things. It shouldn't be holding water.

2013 Model - great cam. Used about 12-14 weeks. No reason to get rid of it other than making room for 2014 models coming in, in a few months, as I am on their pro-staff. Pic is from the actual cam. The cam is small - see size comparison to can of Pepsi. Cam has photo viewer to review photos or check the cam set to make sure you are getting the trail covered, etc. $110 tyd CO US Paypal

Glad to see you making that change - with the amount of work you put into your ground - its time for you to reap the reward personally (moreso than now).

It's not illegal if permission is granted Do some sweet talking and get in there with the bow!

They may invoke the mid-bow season antlerless MZ season next year. I just have a feeling they'll try to invoke it in the high DMP areas.

Yeah I think it was just the temps this a.m. With the slightly warming temps (it was 3 degrees here this a.m.) and the charging, I hope the battery will crank her over to get the grease monkeys at Advanced Auto to throw one in. Normally the vehicles are spaced out enough but with the snowfall this week I've been parking tight to clear the white stuff out.

I thought that too, but the batteries are shaped/sized different. The escape is more rectangular and the Dakota battery won't fit in the space. I suppose I could have used the Dakota battery to start the Escape to back her out far enough to get the truck out, but by that time I'd be later for work than I wanted to be, driving an hour one way...so I just said screw it and signed onto work from home. Yeah, she doesn't have many chances to "get" me - she got me on this one. Zing.

Deer hunting, outside of God, family, work, and close friends, deer hunting is my primary pursuit and passion. I live it - and I think that guy is crazy. A conservative $1,500 per acre. That's $60,000 dollars of land tied up for what? Deer to feel comfy? What if that land goes for $2,500 per acre - not unheard of, obviously. That's $100,000. Let me rephrase the question: Would you pay $100,000 for deer to not be hunted on 40 acres of adjacent ground that you own (you aren't going in there, so it's the same premise)? I'm not afraid of my wife (at least not publicly). I'd be afraid of closing my eyes at any time ever again if she found that I did something like that.
