Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY
scolopaxmatt replied to mike rossi's topic in General Hunting
I know. And it surely is a crime. -
I'm not sure its as simple as a bunch of drug dealing grade schoolers wild westing one another. When I was a copy editor of our local paper accidental shootings seemed rather common. Maybe not every week, but certainly every few months or so. I can think of 2 offhand in the last year in my area alone. There is genuine concern here without question.

Senate Passes Bill to Allow Moose Hunting in NY

800 is considered a healthy enough population to allow hunting? And we can't hunt doves? Come on! But seriously, does anyone have any particulars on this? High priced lottery or open season etc? -
Super cool. I wish DU would put on some shindigs in my neck of the woods. Fun for all, fun for all ages. The BB gun shooting is an especially nice touch.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Get a portfolio put together and get yourself in print my friend. You've got a good eye.

Nationwide, I have no idea. I think the same lax enforcement of locked pool gates is indicative of the level of enthusiasm and enforcement we would see on this, especially anywhere north of Westchester. I never thought I'd say this, but you do raise a fair point here. The "use" is debatable. I don't have kids. But I do have guns. They repose horizontally on the walls of my study. I rather like the look of them there. When they're not in my hands while hunting I feel they serve an aesthetic purpose, or "use".

If at first you don't succeed... You know the rest. It was trashed the first time and with any luck will be trashed again. http://www.outdoorlife.com/blogs/gun-shots/gun-stories-week-federal-bill-require-liability-insurance-gun-owners-reintroduced?dom=odl&loc=contentwell&lnk=gun-stories-of-the-week-federal-bill-to-require-liability-insurance-for-gun-owners-reintroduced

Facts? We don't need no stinking facts.

I apologize in advance for this, but it was just too good not to pass on. http://poststar.com/news/local/queensbury-group-wants-local-law-requiring-eradication-of-poison-ivy/article_3e004712-e908-5d7d-9798-cd60f47435ad.html

Gratuitous, visible tattooing; check. PBR; check. But those pants just aren't tight enough.

50 pounds!? I would have thought more than that. Having never taken a deer I wouldn't know, but those are some big mammals. Geese certainly go a long way and a mixed freezer of game birds keeps me away from the supermarket as well, at least until the meat runs out. But I surely wouldn't like to have to rely solely on my shooting for foodstuffs.

Well said. -
I suppose you COULD eat those. Prion diseases anyone?

While hunting for the fridge makes more sense if you're chasing deer, when it comes to birds the numbers don't add up. http://www.ultimateuplandlodge.com/magazine/read/skewering-meathunters-the-true-cost-of-a-pound-of-game-bird_146.html

There was a great editorial cartoon a few issues back in the Adirondack Explorer. I just can't find it. This will have to suffice. http://www.adirondackalmanack.com/2014/11/out-of-the-woodlot-meet-the-lumbersexual.html

This thread has happily blossomed beyond my intentions. Cheap beer and camo skinny jeans, this is great. Did anyone mention Lumbersexuals yet?

That seems odd to me. Crossbows shoot arrows. The word bow appears in its name for gods sake. Thanks for the info on that.

Are you currently not required to take the bow education class?

How Canada sees America

I didn't know The Band was Canadian. Good call on Neil Young and the Guess Who, though I think we can ignore Loverboy here. -
Hope.for fracking yet
