I occasionally carry a springfield champion operator. 4.25" bull barrel, no bushing. Mag capacity in ny doesn't really make a difference like in other states. I usually carry a extra mag if im carrying my g26 or the 1911 in colder weather. Carried it in the woods last year hoping for a close shot on a deer.

Out of those choices ive only ever shot the ruger. I was very impressed with the gun for the price point. Good trigger, and very accurate. Best bet, go to cabelas and handle the differant choices.

If you put a spur on the rifle you are going for a rifle that is "featureless". It can not have a threaded muzzle, muzzle break, bayonet lug, forward grip, pistol grip or collapsible stock. This is the way to have a detachable mag. Pinned mag u can have any feature. You may have known all that but just throwing it out there. If i were to build a detachable mag rifle it would probably be with the gen 2 thordson stock. As far as handguards go, rails are kinda old news these days. Most are m lok now a days. A slimmer, cleaner attachment system. Goid luck with the rifle, i love them all.

Yes, to fit in the smaller, and lighter ar 15 platform. As the rifle sits now its 12lbs. Also the side charge upper i wanted is not available in a ar10 platform that im aware of.

My scope in sitting in a warne 20moa 1 piece mount. Again this scope isnt going to be taking me to 1000 yards, looking at maybe a used burris xtr2 or if i go new maybe a nikon fx1000. I could save some cash buying the nikon. I may splurge on a Timney calvin elite trigger. So much more to do, and lots more shooting to do.

Also this scope with the current turret only allows me to get out to about 575 yards. Like i said its a good hunting scope but i will need better to reach out to 1000.

From the reading ive done, barometric pressure is what changes at elevation to cause a difference in impact height. So the higher in elevation the lower the barometric preasure will be most likely, allowing the bullet to travel "easier" through the air allowing less drop.

Using Strelok app, theres was no change in drop going from 1000ft to 4000ft. There was a 4" differance going from 60* to 20*. This is at 1000 yards.

Also the temp is a 20* spread so im good from 20* to 60*.

Not that high here, im at 900ft roughly. They give u a range of +or- 2000ft actually i believe. So im good from 500ft to 4500ft.

Also the scope that is currently on yhe rifle is a leupold vx-r 4-12×40 with their cds elevation knob. You send in for a custom knob for the round you are shooting. They need bullet type, weight, speed, B.C., elevation which has a spread of like 1000 ft or something, average temperature which has like a 30* spread i think, and estimated velocity. Also zero distance. For a hunting scope ive found it to be very good. Judging by that target i under estimated the speed a little. But just turned the dial to 3, and shot. With the scope you get 1 free dial. I believe if you want extras they are $60.

Anyone have experience with a timney calvin elite?

Elftmann is on my short list. ive always shot 2 stage triggers, but looking to give a light single stage a try.

Also no more cycling issues. Ran through the Hornady black bery well.

Took the rifle to 300 yards today. Was happy with the group. Only 40 rounds down it so far. Saving my pennies up for a trigger now.

Diamondback isnt a great brand from everything ive read. Like its been stated already, build your lower or have some do it for you. Then shop for a complete upper. The barrel and the trigger i feel are the biggest parts of a precision type AR not to get cheap on. Id suggest the larue mbt trigger, pretty sure its still on sale for $87 through larue. Very good 2 stage trigger. As far as uppers go, either buy from a well established name brand or look at pre assembled uppers using goid barrels. Ive had good luck with bkingsfirearms.com. You can get uppers using faxon or ballistic advantage barrels. There are alot better barrels out there but they are very good for the price point they are at.

I live 5 minutes from there, hunting is great on my property. You would definitely need to walk it to see if it has anything to "hold" deer on it for any amount of time. Bedding, food, something. Like its been stated earlier, u will need to be bffs with ur neighbors lol.

We r gonna try and take a small vacation somewhere. Looking at hot springs in Colorado.

Most points i believe. Doesnt look like biggest.

Selling this upper to fund more of my 6.5 grendel build. Its a 18" ss barrel, vg6 gamma muzzle break. The 277 wlv is a 223 necked up to 277. This means it uses the same mags and bolt as a 223/556. Reloading dies are available online from hornady. Their are 2 manufacturers producing loaded ammo and a few producing new brass. I have some 110gr nosler accubonds loaded up i would throw in if u wanted them. I still have over half pound of the 1680 powder to go with the upper also. Upper does not come with bcg or ch. Asking $425, shipping would be extra. Only about 40 rounds fired.
