  1. Alright sweet guys thats easy enough, what about solvent? I ues hoppes, and always have. I dont like the texture of the guns the hoppes leaves behind, and deer cant like the smell, as its usually overwhelming to me. Anything better out there?
  2. So I have been cleaning guns for awhile now, and I am always running into the same problem. Every single type of cloth I use leaves behind lint or other residue. What do you guys use? Are there any types of material out there that clean lubricate and do not leave any unwanted residue behind?
  3. Hey guys, I was thinking about starting to reload ammo, but I am completely new to the subject. I don't even know anyone who reloads... How hard is it to start out? how would I start out? and is it "dangerous"? I want to get a more accurate load and save some money, so I really wanna start reloading.
  4. Wow, that guy wont be around long with gun safety like that
  5. So I went to a gun raffle this past weekend, and low and behold, I won a gun (pretty ecstatic) I won a weatherby 12 gauge. I went to the store (dicks) to see the gun, and seeing as how I didn't really need another 12 gauge, I decided I would spring for a gun I have always wanted, a marlin 30-30. My grandfather has more lever action guns than I can count, probably more than he remembers, I grew up shooting one of his winchester 30-30's. He has an older 336, and it is beautiful, from the action, to the blueing on the gun, to the finish it is just beautiful. Dicks was running a special on the marlin 336A + a scope for 349 with a 50$ rebate. So I sprung for it, well after having one store search high and low, they had none, I called a store that was up the road, they said yea I have a few, I go and they had 2 youth guns no combos, so I go to another store and FINALLY get my gun. After getting it home and giving it a once over I have a few quirks about it that I didn't have about my grandfathers. First off, the finish seems chinsey, It seems as though the didn't put any varnish on it at all, It's almost porous, not to mention it was dented in a few places (slightly, just being nit picky it wasn't a huge deal) There is a small dent on the metal where the sling mount mounts to the gun, and then to top it off, the offset hammer spur included in the packaging, is no where near the right size, the guy at the store says that it is a common issue lately. All in all after shooting it it is a nice gun, I don't regret buying it, It just made me realize that even guns aren't made like they used to be. Kind of depressing
  6. Hey all, with hunting season right around the corner, and my birthday in about a week, my fiance told me she would love to buy me a new outfit, as I have been using some hand me downs for awhile now and they are starting to fall apart. I have no idea what to get. I want something very warm, I can sit in the woods for a long time without food or drink, I can even hold my bathroom trips for a long time if I have to. My biggest enemy is the cold, even in bow season I tend to get cold from lack of movement and have to go in for awhile. Heres what I want, tops and bottoms 100% waterproof, as warm as possible, many pockets, quiet with a good design, and if it has removable liners, thats a plus too. What do you guys think?
  7. Yea I didnt know I could stretch my budget lol, did well on ebay this week! Yea Ive heard there are so many upgrades for the 10/22 its insane
  8. I decided to get the Ruger 10/22 today. I figured I hear nothing but good things about it, and the way I take care of my guns it will last in my family for generations. It wasnt that bad either, after tax and everything it came to 250.
  9. Hey guys, I was up in springville a week ago and they had bolt action and semi auto savage .22's for sale, for 130 bucks. Is it worth it? anyone have any experience with these guns? I've been shopping around for a .22 for a while now and I came to the conclusion that 150 to 170 bucks is my limit, any more than that it just isnt worth it to me, I only wanna take it to the gun club and shoot every now and again when I cant afford a 20 dollar box of bullets But what do you guys think? worth it?
  10. Hey guys I just joined a sportsmans club, and Im gonna go shooting very often. Problem is, bullets are 20$ a box : . So heres my solution, I'd like to buy a .22 and shoot with that more often than my .270 or .308. Anyone thats got one for sale lemme know.
  11. Im not a rap fan, but this video cracks me up. thats the link
  12. I know there is a difference, but when my house got infested with box elder bugs, hot soapy water did the trick. Idk why, something in the soap that them bugs dont like.
  13. Im very interested to see where this leads
  14. Not to "change the subject", and im sure its somewhere on the forum but since were on the subject, how do i tell what shoots best? If I sight it in for 165Gr, then try it for 150Gr, i have to mess with the scope again. Am i just looking to see what I can group better?
  15. Yup, I only have the bushnell scope it came with for now, but I want to buy a couple of Nikon prostaff's one for that, one for my 270
  16. My uncle just gave me a remington 770 .308. I plan on hunting with it eventually, but I wanted to get you guy's opinions first. What is the best .308 whitetail weight? I use 130Gr on my .270 but I was also thinking about bumping that up to like 150. What do you guys think?
  17. I don't know the make, but my uncle has a laser bore sighter for a .270. I like it because it gets me on paper, but there is a lot of adjusting that needs to be done afterwards. I just put new bases on my .270 last week and went and shot it after using the bore sighter. I was 5" to the right and 3" high. odd...
  18. Im very sorry to hear tht man. Pm me anytime if ya gotta tlk to som 1
  19. So my cousin was killed in afganastan last month. Every time he would come back stateside me and him would go fishing, we loved it, it was kind of our thing. I want to do an annual fishing derby in his honor, but i dont really know where to start. Any ideas? comments?
  20. Look, this can be a touchy subject to talk about, so ill just say my piece and let bigons be bigons lol. Am i happy hes dead? yes. I lost my cousin over there one month ago tho, so id say it came a month to late. The guy was my idol, and ever since i lost him i have been reflecting on how i look at things. How do i feel now that bin ladin is dead? Absolutely terrified. If anyone knows anybody over seas, contact them, tell them you love them, tell them you miss them. When the S**t hits the fan, and they retaliate, our troops will bear the grunt of it. I have pondered the possibility of another attack on our soil as well. I am by no means a passivist, or a peace pusher, but I feel like A) when you just share blows with another country no one can ever win. Prove to me its really him and not a cover up. and C) we went to afganastan to hunt down and kill bin ladin, we went to iraq to check for weapons of mass destruction and get saddam, they are both dead, lets bring our men and women home now... Dont get me wrong i support our troops 100%, i just want to see them all back home safe and sound, and not fighting someone elses holy, unwinnable war...
