  1. Happy Birthday! You Otto go out tonight and have a great time
  2. I get it. You come here for your emotional needs, and go elsewhere for your physical needs. Sigh . . . .
  3. Chef, you frequent other forums? How could you? I thought we had something special.
  4. I hope it's ok to repost this in it's entirety. I found it funny and true, albeit it doesn't address the 2A per, but rather the inalienable right of self defense. https://smallestminority.blogspot.com/2019/03/why-you-need-gun.html?m=1 [Text of post:] A couple years ago I was working security at a bar in northern Virginia. I overheard a table of college kids arguing about gun rights and gun control and it was getting far too emotional so I did what any sane combat veteran would do and attempted to exfiltrate. I must not have withdrawn as surreptitiously as I intended, because I was stopped in my tracks when a 5-foot-nothing brunette seemingly leapt in front of me and blurted out "excuse me, can you help us?" I'm sure I must have looked irritated as I cycled through the possible quips and excuses I considered available to me but being uncertain that she wasn't some Senator's daughter, I caved: "What's up?" She basically leads me to this table of 2 other females (probably both named Karen) and a very soft looking male. Becky: "So, we were just talking about current events and, you know. So, you look like you're probably in the military, right? Like the Army?" (When you accuse someone of being in the military you probably don't need to give an example) Me: "Similar.. yea" Me: "Similar.. yea" Becky: "Right. Okay. So, do you think civilians should be allowed to own guns?" Me: "Most of us. Yes." Becky: (clearly not happy with my answer) "Okay, so, why do you think you need a gun?" (At this point it's almost 2am and I've just given up on patience. Hold my beer) (With intentionally overt condescension): "Oh, honey, I don't. I don't need a gun." Becky stares at me blankly, so I continue, but with a more serious tone: "I could follow you home, walk up your driveway, and beat you to death with the daily newspaper. I could choke you to death with that purse. I could take a credit card, break it in half, and cut your throat open with it. With enough time and effort I could beat your boyfriend here with a rolled up pair of socks. I could probably dream up six dozen other ways I could easily end your life if you gave me an hour or so. If I wanted to, I could wrap my hand around that beer mug and kill all four of you before you could make it to the exit. The worst part is, in your utopian little fantasyland, there ain't a thing any of you could do about it. I don't need a gun. You need a gun. You need a gun because of men like me." Call me a jerk, but if you want to keep your guns, these are the conversations we all need to start having
  5. How big are your pajamas that you could fit an elephant in them? I could only fit the trunk.
  6. But only after Memorial Day, right? I mean, you're not a savage after all.
  7. It just says it was a "guided hunt". I shouldn't have convoluted the two issues. I meant to post about the high fence place earlier, but forgot about it. This article reminded me of it for some reason.
  8. Aha! You're addicted to showers. That would make a good new thread: If you had to give up coffee in the morning or showers in the morning, which would it be?
  9. wikipedia says Hamilton, Ontario https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Hortons
  10. My futile efforts to get a cup of coffee the way I like it became a distraction. Can only expect so much from that particular Tim Horton's. It's interesting on how you get to know which stores in WNY have good crews and which stores are skimpy with the creamer. Fortunately, the one closest to home is the best. I'd bet @turkeyfeathers could elaborate on that.
  11. link to article here As an aside, when I went to the Outdoor Expo recently, there was some places that offered year-round, no license required "hunting" for all sorts of exotic species. The price list looked like a Chinese menu, with higher prices as the size of then animal or rack went up. I had heard the term high-fence hunting on the forum before, but never realized how it worked or how far things went. At what point does it become harvesting instead of hunting? I shouldn't have convoluted the question with the mention of high fence hunting. That's a separate issue. Regarding the lion, the article just says it was a guided hunt.
  12. I'm sorry I put you through that. I should have just been thankful for what I got. B team was working that shift IIRC.
  13. You're such a suck up!
  14. We take coffee very seriously in the Goose household. Mornings get freshly ground coffee, usually Jamaican Blue Mountain. I buy it on Ebay. We brew it in a Technivorm Moccamaster, the best drip coffeemaker out there. link Evenings we do Tim Horton's k-cups, and outside the house we do Tim Horton's if at all possible. I use half and half and a Splenda or stevia drops. Mrs. Goose just uses half and half.
  15. After over 15 years of knowing each each other, whenever I say soda to Mrs. Goose, she still says "What's that? I drink pop".
  16. I cheated and skipped to the end to see how it turned out. Sloppy job.
  17. I found this very interesting. The way the video is shot, it's like you are right there doing the hunt. A bit long, but it goes quickly.
  18. Is this a commentary on life and or the board?
  19. I am sorry for your loss. You and your son are very fortunate to have had such a great role model in your life for as long as you both did.
  20. Happy Birthday, Pygmy! Wishing you a wonderful day.
  21. The Genesee Valley Chapter of the Adirondack Mountain Club is hosting an Outdoor Expo on June 8, 2019 at Mendon Ponds Park in Pittsford, NY link Info at this point is sparse, but you can get a good idea on the workshops to be offered by looking at the 2018 ones. link I am thinking about joining the club and attending the expo. Would anyone have any experience or comments on either the club or the expo? Thanks.
  22. Mrs. Goose and I went to the Buffalo Home Show today in downtown Buffalo. It had been a few years since we had attended. Other than the desire to reface some bathroom cabinets, we didn't have much on our hit list. That, combined with the general notion that I've lived in the area long enough to have go to contractors for most needs, there wasn't much that was of interest. Mrs. Goose picked up a backyard decoration, but she is saving her ammo for next week's Plantasia at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. One thing we did see that caught our eye was the home model food freeze dryer. You can make your own camping meals, or just use it to do long term storage of food without needing refrigeration or freezer. So, anybody been/going to the home show this year? Any highlights? Anybody have a home food freeze dryer?
