It's gun season! Deer know that the woods is way to busy! All year long they have it to themselves. Then gun season! They go into hiding. And the weather hasn't been great either!

idk in my area it seems as if the dec is trying to take the herd out. They give so many doe permits it ain't funny. I can get 4 if I want. And that's every hunter in the area that wants them. And trust me from hunting here for many years. there ain't that many deer. And as for antler restrictions I'm going to say it would be nice to see some more mature deer but idk if antler restrictions will help. Idk what the answer is. All I know is I sure hope the whitetail herd stays strong and preserves or right to hunt them for many years to come

I hear u. That's why I only bow hunt state land. Once the gun hunters get out there. There is no respect!!! Any how only suggestions I have is go in deeper and let them push to u. Or find some private land. And sorry u have to deal with that. That's the crap u get this time of yr

This is good stuff. Lots of good points on both sides. I'm kinda torn in the middle. I mean more mature bucks would be nice but I also eat lots of venison and don't like tag soup. So again I was just wondering what everyone else thought. Thanks. Keep them coming

And so now after doing a bit more reading I'm not so sure. One point was that the 1.5 yr old 6 or 8 point with good genetics won't make it and the 1.5 yr old 4 pt with not as good genetics will. Hmmmm now I really want to know what people think

ok guys and no arguments here's. Please. After doing some reading on this topic there are lots of good that comes out of antler restrictions. What do u guys think or how do u feel about this and why.

Well we did throw a measuring tape on it last night. Got a score of 136. But I'm not sure of the deductions. I was just wondering if it would make the books or not. Thanks for all the replies.

Shot this buck during 2nd last day of bow. Looking for an average of what u guys think he may score.

Just make sure u put some orange flags or something out so they know there is a blind there. It's ur property and if ur not shooting onto there's well they shouldn't be shooting on yours. If just talk to the guy and make sure u can get recovery rights!

Only chance is to push them out. But I don't care to hunt that way. Hopefully the winds die down and the hunting pressure calms down and then they might move.

They don't go into the woods all yr! They don't know any better! And trust me I'm not make excuses for them! It's the truth! I hate it! and I'm sure I'm going to catch all kinds of crap for saying that!

I hardly ever see much movement after opening wkend. And I hunt hard! I get out for at least a few hrs every day. The weather this yr is special!! I think it keep a lot of guys in the house or camp. So I'm hoping thanksgiving thru the wk end is good! This is why I miss bow season! Deer were moving natural and once the cannons come out movement stops. And I was talking to a buddy who has a camp and he said fri before the opener was nuts. Guys on the hill were shooting tanarite and having fires andriding 4wheelers! Shooting guns all night! So I would say that stuff also slows down movement. They know the woods ain't normally this busy. Just my .02

I hunted with my muzzleloader all wk end. And love it! If I miss well then the deer get to live. And when I was younger I fit in that category of shooting 5 shells in 3 secs. I'm 38 now and boy after I started bow hunting many yes back I relized how many people come in the woods opening wk end and dont have a clue. I am teaching both my sons to to be them kinds of guys!

When u guys process ur own deer do u guys rinse the meat before u pack it and freeze it?

I think it was one of the slowest opening days I can remember. Quiet. Didn't hear the shooting I thought I was going to. Maybe less hunters. I'm I'm not really sure about the deer population. Makes me wonder.
