  1. I think the fact that it was way to warm had something to do with it.
  2. Is it possible that it got shot off last season and healed that way? Looks like it still has a shoulder. Or am I wrong?

    Tag soup

I'm really thinking I'm going to eat tag soup also this yr!! It's been a while since that happened
  4. I was wondering if anybody does there own or friends mounts? Anybody have problems with ticks? How to get rid of them before taking skull out of cape? I put them in a bag and sprayed some heavy duty bug killer in there. Hope it don't ruin anything?
  5. So I've always been told turkey don't gobble in the fall. I've been hunting along time and can say I really never heard one so I just figured it was true. But I swear I hear a turkey gobbling away this morning.
  6. I'm a trophy hunter during bow! Well I should say I try to be any how! See a lot more deer then. Don't get me wrong I'll shoot doe durning bow too! But once gun starts I'll try to let the little ones go. And I passed a 5 pt opening day (try for 6 or bigger) just something I try to do. But I sure seems to be kicking me now! Looks like tag soup if something don't show here soon.
  7. The doe will drop a fawn or 2 fawn in spring! One of them 2 may be a buck or both! But the buck ain't dropping anything but his horns!
  8. Good job grow. And I know all about the bitter sweet stuff! He may have made it or may not have. Then u got cars too! I would love to let all the bucks I see grow! Well most of them anyhow. But I like filling the freezer too! If I had 500 acres and could manage the herd then u can be picky. I really try not to kill anything less then a 6pt but if it's a yr like this one! The next deer I see hits the ground. If I happen to see one. Nice job man
  9. I say put them in. I had action as soon as I put mine in. Cameras pic up tons of action every yr now. Where abouts in the tier are u? If u need sum help pm me.
  10. So I haven't been out since Sunday evening. I go out for an hr this afternoon. Was hoping they might be hungry and want to move a bit! I was wrong. No deer! No shooting! And now the camera has dried up! It's going to be hard to get up sat morn! Any words of advise guys? Cause I could use sum! I'm thinking in going to get skunked with the gun this yr. it's been along time since that happened.
  11. It's sad that people have to worry about others messing with there stuff. I had my camp broke into once. Must have been kids! They took my extension cords, the battery out of my 4 wheeler, the motor off my air compressor, and my chain saw. So I went to walmart and got some of them window door alarms! There pretty inexpensive. And put them on the shed door and cabin doors. Found the shed open the next time I went down. But just enough to let the alarm go off. Battery was dead. But I bet it scared them and they just beat feet. I haven't had a problem since. Knock on wood. Hope this helps. It's worth a try.
  12. Nice info on the coupler! Nice to know these things!! Is there any where to get bagged lime this time of the yr? I'd like to get sum in my plots for spring planting
  13. I'd get a camera on them rubs see what time he is hitting them. If there's a lot of pressure around u then it might be all night time activity. The only other suggestion I have is get in the tree stand and do all day sits. U may not see him again. And then again u may. All u can do is put as much time in as u can. And if ur hunting to fill the freezer take one of the does! They taste better anyhow!
  14. I do believe there is sum state land in hartland or somerset some where around there. And there is lots of game to be had on the state land. The further u go in the better off you will prob be. Also remember u have to get out if u go in far. This really makes it a challenge when u get one! And I will also tell u. If u want to hunt state land and have a better chance. Pick up the bow. Less pressure more opportunity.
  15. Man! I use to hunt Lapp rd in Clarence. I sure wish I could hunt there. Those were good times
  16. Just a little update. My cousin was hunting with me this morning. Seen a little 3 pt chasing a doe all over this morning. At 10:30 am
  17. We do some small pushes. 2/3 of us. I guess u can say organized walks. Only have so much property. But there are a lot of people not seeing deer. And the no deer here name!!! Ha! That's funny. Got a little story bout that. First I figured no body had used that name! And when I was younger and I use to drive deer with party's of guys we use to yell " get up deer " so I started "no deer here" kinda like cold beer here! It stuck and that's what we would walk thru the woods saying! But that got to crazy over the yrs. so it's A 2/3 man walk these days. Quiet! Or park it in a stand.
  18. I have been in the stand here in 9x all day and nothing! No deer moving no shots! Where are the deer? Where are the hunters! It's only the 2nd wk end!! I never remember it this quiet!
  19. They will pay attention more to the noise after they have been shot at the last wk.
  20. Skinning it about 30-45 mins. Let meat rest for 4-6 days in fridge. About 3-4 more hrs to cut and wrap it
