  1. I do not see any repetitious movements here on my cameras ever. I am not looking to put in plots here, not my thing. However, I am not a good hunter, first to admit it, but I rather sit, and be patient, even if it take me years between good bucks, I feel amazing when I do connect, and it means the world to me.
  2. That's a beautiful mount, please don't take it as if I am saying otherwise. Thank you for that, I a feeling confident of a shot now.
  3. Well yeah, I am trying to learn, I don't want an animal to suffer.
  4. Thank you G-Man, I appreciate it.
  5. Nice, I like that, I want it looking as if it is walking on my hardwood floors, lol. I am not married, and I bought my house on my own, so I cant comment on not being allowed to have it in your living room, but I know when my day comes, it is going where I chose.
  6. I hear you, the thick fur soaks up the blood, thud keeping it from dripping on the ground... Where would you aim though?
  7. Out of likes, but good luck, either way, let me know.
  8. A couple years ago, I lost track at 23 sightings of bear on my 37 mile commute to work. Love it here.
  9. Thanks TreeGuy. I have never put much thought into stand placement other than for the thought of "oh, I see lots of deer scat, and I can shoot in many directions". This time, I listened to what I read on here, and tried to setup with good cover, and to not be skylined. The first pic with me in the stand, I am very concealed, the pic makes it look otherwise, but I am very concealed. I have a very good feeling about it. I have one, or 2 days of worth left on my home restoration, and I will finally be hunting as much as possible
  10. I am just south at the tips of the Catskills. Lots of bears in the region. Saw some cubs before, what a privilege to see.
  11. I have had a climber since as lomg as I can remember, probably 15 yrs I would say. It has seen better days, and is to the point of being dangerous, it has freeze damage, etc, lol. I have retired it. I bought my dad a Summit Viper 2 yrs ago for his birthday, and he LOVES it. I used it for the first time yesterday to ratchet strap that 20 footer to the tree. That stand is a big deep for me, I wonder how the mini viper is. I prefer ladder stands, but do like the versatility of a climber, and being able to move around and be choosy with it. I have my eye on the Summit Razor. It has the gun rail, where you sit on to climb, it can be adjusted to lower itself, out of your way. I just like the ladders stands since they are so easy to enter/exit.
  12. Where did you hunt in Maine? Just being nosey, it is my favorite place so far, on earth. And thank you
  13. Ahh the truth comes out! Nice meals Crappy. Good stuff
  14. I know jealousy when I hear it, haha. Nice fungus.
  15. Thanks Moog. I have quite a few here, see a lot during the off season, but I know it is a matter of time before I see one while in the stand. I am keeping hopeful. I want bear burgers, and will do a full mount walking on the floor of my living room.
  16. In my mind, I would prefer to aim as if the bear, was a deer, ut is sounding as if either is acceptable.
  17. Sounds like the middle of the middle from your description?
  18. This is a bit of a big woods scenario. No farms, or ag fields for 20 or so miles. I have such a hard time patterning here, not sure they really can be patterned...I just put my time in, and keep patient.
  19. Thanks Rob, mich appreciated. I do too prefer a rail, not a fan of these cheapies with the square tube ladders, I like the D shape style. Also, like the 1.5 or 2 person setups. I will be adding some 2x4's as a rail, on my sides, for added security. I have a safety harness on the way too.
  20. Lol, so the one I burnt out on day 3 is no bueno? I have 3 now, and am planning on a climber. Baby steps...even though I know better lol
  21. I am so proud of you lol. I can't help it though, I do love salad, haha. I just try to eat decent, I would have LOVED to have had a nice hard roll for that burger, but fortunately I have good self control. I honestly just want to always be eat whatever I can, for as Iong as I can, without some Dr saying otherwise.
  22. I figured I might try this. Late start to the year, but my dad came up yesterday, and we set up 2 ladders stands. I bought two used cheapy stands from a family friend, who is moving to Florida, abd is unloading as much as he can. I bought a 20' ladder stand, and a 15' for $45. I could not pass it up. I finally have some variety, and choices, as far as where to sit. I own 5 acres, in front of 68 ish acres that I have sole permission to hunt. I am feeling pretty good, and I have finally setup these 2 stands within pretty good cover.
