  1. My house is finally done, and I will FINALLY get into a treestand tomorrow, I don't care how hot it will be!
  2. Wow this barber is only about an hour away, neat story. Amazing, and good for him
  3. I agree, fortunately I have had success with a deer and bow, I had a nice pass through on my bow deer. I will never forget that hollow thud sound when the arrow hit!
  4. Thank you, if thats where one should aim, than thats what I will do if presented an opportunity. I have zero issue with it now, you guys have mostly favored middle of the middle. Prior to this thread, I had read lots of heated debates on other forums, this was a couple years ago. However I did always hear to make sure that front arm was steppd forward to get that large shoulder blade away. Thanks again!
  5. Thank you for that. This helps a lot.
  6. I hear ya, lol. With all seriousness, I will only shoot max 20 yards, I am not confident enough at this time any further out. Also, where I do hunt, its about 10-15 yards is about all I have for room, a lane or 2 at 20 yards. I do plan to up the draw weight about 5 more pounds in the future, and will need different arrows at that point anyway. Thanks
  7. Learn something new everyday, lol. Anyone think thats an acceptable arrow setup at 48 lbs for a bear?
  8. I really don't know, to be honest, I will check and get back to you. I worked with a local bow shop, who set me up, as I am not at all knowledgeable with the techs/specs of bow equipment.
  9. I am out of likes, but didn't want to ignore you. Thanks for that idea.
  10. Thanks, and I was wondering if they would acclimate to the owls presence.
  11. LoL, pics would always keep me away haha. Thats an idea too, these birds are so annoying, and we do not seem to ever have crows here really, so that might work.
  12. Finally had a chance to read that article, very informative. Thank you
  13. It's worth taking a peak, thank you.
  14. Great info, THANK YOU. I really do not think I would chance it with a bow. However, I am at 48 ish pounds, using Striker G5 broadheads, i believe thats what they are called, definitely G5 though. Cant remember the weight of the arrow its 400 or 500s.
  15. Do they work? Birds love making nests on the crossbuck ends of my log home, and on the window trim. Was thinking a couple fake owls perched on adjacent corners to reduce/prevent the birds muddying up my new stain. Have a good one, thanks.
  16. That's awesome about the bulls. I am sure you saw my Maine thread, we go just to see moose. It was tough this year, pretty warm this visit. I have no issue going to Ontario, its on my list of places to see actually. I want to tent camp in Alqonquin prov park, and hear the wolves howl. I am located in the souther tier though, but would be willing to drive 12 hrs.
  17. Wooow, yeah that is like hitting Powerball. I want to hunt bull moose so badly up there, and in the Yukon. Was he/she successful? I am a big believer, that you get what you pay for, typically. I am actually going to look at that outfitter website Pav mentioned if they have. My dad turns 60 in a year, and a half, would love to take him on a hunt of some kind. Moose, or Mule deer....it would be, even a white tail hunt would be fun since its in a different element. I would love to submit for a tag, but I feel overwhelmed by it, as if it will just be a disappointment lol. That gives the hey you never know, as far as your friend's story goes.
  18. I can see that, my dad always has, and always wants me to see, and have the opportunity at the bigger bucks, or see that big old bear roam through. Besides, it seems as if you have been successful many many times. I am with you on that, I am routing for TurkeyFeathers too. Looking forward to hear his enthusiasm when his first bow deer comes, I remember how excited I was. Congrats to your nephew by the way.
  19. Thanks Grampy, really trying to make a difference this year. Good luck to you as well!
  20. That is good info, this is where i need to let cams soak lomger than 2-3 weeks at a clip. I should start jotting down times/dates on a paper, as I watch my videos. Everything just seems so sporadic here, like I said I am not a great hunter as far as scouting, and other prep tactics go, but as far as patience, and seat time, I am great with. I did have a bad blizzard here in March, about 3ft of heavy wet snow fell, and laid over acres of the small 3" and smaller diameter pines. It was so think from it back here, that it was practically not huntable, as is as far as shooting goes. I cleared all the pines out that fell on my property up to the line where I have the permission to hunt out back. This is where my that tall stand is. That area I hope is now a path of least resistance. Thanks Gman, that was good info.
  21. They will be delivered on Thursday, actually. Bought a Hunter Safety System.
