  1. Guess how many deer I saw today! gueeeeessssss...... .......none. back at it in the AM.
  2. Similar situation here. The distant gun shots are encouraging.
  3. My salami sammiches are in my backpack at the base of my tree
  4. Thank you for your thoughts. I'm hoping this spot provides some sightings today, having a difficult time with big woods settings.
  5. Happy Thanksgiving. i'm in 3k. I am in a spot I have always wanted to hunt, never had the opportunity really, I finally packed my climber in with me, scooted up a tree inbetween 2 funnels with a slight hill separating. QUESTION: I found a ground scrape here, it's clearly 2 days old at thr most due to snow. Anyways, it's clearly from a deer, I can see the dirts flung back on angles. NO licking branch? Whats this about? Did a buck chase a doe and get frustrated, or something like that? thanks
  6. In 3k, I hunt behind my home, I sat from dark until 11 sharp, saw nothing. I go inside my house and cook a ham, and egg wrap, sit down, and glance behind the house, and I saw a small 6 lol. He really wasnt legal, neither side had all 3 tines at over 1". It gave a bit if encouragement for my afternoon. I microwaved my gel seat for 2 mins, im toasty warm out here
  7. I hunt 3k/3m, in sullivan county near PA border, I haven't seen any rut activity what so ever. In 3m I hear stories but sometimes I feel those are like fish stories, and overly exaggerated. I havent seen anything larger than a 3 point.
  8. Im in 3k in a slight pinch transition, hoping to be a sniper in this spot I chose. I have a sudden good feeling about tonight for agood legal buck. good luck self, and all others.
  9. Sullivan County has a high concentration of bald eagles here. The state has little sheds built for eagle watchers to sit inside of to watch the eagles fly over, I always see people utilizing the sheds. Some of the land is restricted too during certain months for breeding.
  10. Im in 3k yet again, new tracks in the snow, but everything typically is at night as far as cameras go.
  11. Sitting in my climber in 3k, 8" from the "chance of a snow shower" forecast last night. Calm and clear now, i too love bring in the woods after snow. Nothing seen yet.
  12. Sitting in 3k. Clear blue sky, very slight breeze, not a deer seen, squirrels are quiet too.... I do hear that homemade mac n cheese calling my name though.
  13. ApexerER- congrats! Sitting in 3k, very quiet in the area.
  14. I have had a big buck eating grass in the backyard the past 2 nights. The more I look at the pic I feel like he is the buck I was sitting forever for last year, between bow, and gun, and late bow season, but never saw him. He only showed up once on a camera of mine. I even passed up a decent 7 pointer at hopes of seeing this specific deer. Here is the big guy, leaps and bounds bigger than any other buck on cam here in the 5 years I have live here, so as you can imagine I am excited to see such a deer. Do you think he is the same deer? Color pic was from August of '15
  15. Wolc123- That sounds exciting going up to the northern zone. I honestly did not save the liver, never really gave it a thought since its not something I grew up eating. You're probably cringing reading this. Fasteddie- cheaper at shoprite after all our hours, etc lol. Good luck!
  16. Lawdwaz- glad you are as psyched as I am! Thanks for that. DanielT- All I want is for people to realize they can do anything! No....matter.....what. Chefhunter- Thank you! I am very happy to have venison again, been a long year without it, lol. Wolc123- don't get me wrong I am thrilled, I guess I just have a heavy heart after a harvest. Very happy about this opportunity, and I truly look at it as no different than any other deer I have harvested. Deer nachos, and chili ASAP! Good luck, I hope you get your opportunity at your target button buck, sooner than later. I probably should have put this in the harvest thread instead, I did not expect so many replies since I am such a new member.
  17. I am honestly overwhelmed by all these replies! Extremely appreciated! I hate to not reply individually to all of you, but please know I really appreciate it. All I ever wanted was to show people in my situation that you can do anything. I always push myself. I agree any deer is a trophy, I just wish this deer was older so it had more of a life, thats all I mean by that. That is just how my conscious works. Thankful the shot was great! And trust me I am very excited to have venison nachos, and chili! Can't wait! Grampy! Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts during the season! I will be back at it looking for the big guy!
  18. Congratulations everyone, looks like an action filled night for many. thank you turkeyfeathers! I appreciate that a lot.
  19. This afternoon has become a huge day for me! As my username says bionic, some may already know I wear a myoelectric prosthetic arm. I set a huge personal goal for myself to harvest a deer with a bow. I wanted a regular bow versus a compound for the added challenge for myself. This evening I harvested a deer, it was a quick clean shot, full pass through, and I could not have asked for a better shot from myself. I am very pleased, thankful, and words cannot express what this day means to me. Unfortunately this deer turned out to be a button buck, I am disappointed that it was a young deer, but as mentioned earlier, the shot was more than I could ask/hope for. This deer will be enjoyed by myself, family, and friends. Incase you are wondering where the tag is, its zip tied to his back leg...
  20. Just saw a doe getting chased by a small buck. I think maybe a spike or a 3 pointer, too far to tell. 5 minutes later a small basket followed. I have been seeing zero the past week, so that was a treat. 3M
