  1. I tried the "newer" can call yesterday evening. I am honestly about clueless with it. I used it twice, one tip over, waited about 15 seconds, and one more tip of the call, and I put it away for the night. Within 5 minutes a 3 point came walking by. I tried it at this particular spot because it has subtle rolling hills which limit long distance vision. He must have been right over a hill. My boss told me also that if you are in a more open area, where you can see long distances that using a can call might not be the greatest idea at fooling larger bucks due to the deer hearing, but not getting visual proof of a doe making the noise. That tip was good I thought, something to think about. when I say I used it twice, that was yesterday evening, i have tried it last year, no luck, thinking I over used it, but not sure. I might be stating all the obvious here, but it was one of things that I never thought about being the open, versus more of a shorter vision area.

  7. Thank you! I have a hard time patterning deer in my usual areas, its more of a big woods setting, no farms, they arent used to people either i dont think, so they seem to do whatever they feel like whenever, everything is so spread out.

  10. Good luck Zem18, I am in the same boat with a lot of wall to fill up! I picture a few more bucks jumping through my wall.
  11. Biz- Yes they are amazing to me, an animal that is so smart, and can evade people right in front of their face. British Columbia is also a dream place to visit, a wolf in BC I would be set for life!
  12. ATbuckhunter, Thanks for info, I appreciate it. Tughill Tamer, Thanks for your input/compliment. It is nice having an idea now as far as an age range.
  13. Love the black wolves! Where were those taken? They've always fascinated me. Any recommendations for a guided wolf hunt?
  14. Thank you,. Interesting, he seems so gray to me, does gray/white hair tend to kick in at a certain age of a deer? Also any idea why some deer have the toupee(wig) look and some dont?
  15. Oh wow, i was expecting 2-2.5 tops. That excites me hearing possibly 3.5 yrs old. Here are added pics from the best day of my life.
  16. It is airbrushed with piston/shock type designs, a chain and sprocket, as well as rivets, wiring. A painted on "sticker" as well that says "Danger High Voltage". lol
  17. For some reason I never wondered how old my deer was. I was always too excited thar age never really crossed my mind. Estimates? He was weighed at the taxidermist at 175 lbs dressed, for whatever thats worth. Zone 3k Sullivan County, no farms, just forest. Thanks!
  18. First deer on left(i was 12), and my first rack deer up in the peak from 2 years ago.
  19. I was born missing my left hand, and forearm. I wear several different myoelectric prosthetics, and am very proud of it, so I thought Bionic was fitting.
  20. Zem18 made a good point.... when I said metal drum style for smoking a meal for that night, I meant it is the store bought barbecue style smoker, that is drum shaped.
  21. I will have him send me a pic or two tomorrow of his setup. Might give you some ideas. The heat shield was a lesson learned to be honest, the door caught fire during the early stages, lol. After that he lined the door in steel, and its been trouble free, works unbelievably well.
