  7. Chefhunter- Bloomingburgh wurtsboro area I imagine? Where abouts is camp? My has been searching for about a year for a little place. They sell like hot cakes!
  8. Unreal, he is impressive! Good luck! You have inspired me to give this a try.
  9. Thank you! I will let you guys know if I see him in stand, etc. Could this scrape location be his bed area? There are lots of aggressive rubs in this vicinity, id say within an acre. Core area? I have no experience with such scenario
  10. Really does look like a deer leg haha good luck Moose!
  11. Thank you! I need all the luck I can get, I have never drawn my bow on a deer yet lol. A bit nervous at the thought of it on such a deer, this is my second bow season, and last year was very uneventful for me.
  12. I forgot to mention a bunch of does did use that matted area for bedding one night. This buck is in a natural scrape, and a 6, and 7 also visit this scrape, about 60' away is another scrape that looks abused pretty good, the licking branch looks chewed on.
  13. I am beyond excited to have such a deer on camera. I have never seen a deer of this size in person, but having it on camera is very exciting for me! This pic is in 3M, and not on farmland. I noticed a matted down area in tall grass that I assumed was bedding, well upon looking at the saplings that are densly scattered around, I found some larger than average rubs for what I see in 3K, and 3M. Well this piece of property where this said bedding area, has 3 scrapes, and numerous rubs. Some rubs are from 4" of the ground to almost 5' high. I even found some saplings that are about 3/4" or so in diameter snapped right off from a buck rubbing. After noticing all this I had all sorts of images in my head of what he looks like lol. He is nocturnal, but hopefully that changes, in 3M bucks are starting to move in daylight i'm hearing. Hopeuhe changes habits. here is what surfaced on camera. A bit blurry but the general idea is clear.
  14. Fletch, mind if I send you a PM? Your hunting area sounds familiar with mine....and I am having a very tough time figuring out where to sit. I rarely see deer here, even trail cam pics are far between. Thanks
  15. Heres my honest input about my hunting choices. I love venison, but have always been fascinated with animals since I was a little kid. I was always especially fascinated with animals who could live a long life without being seen by humans very often, like coyotes, bears, and BIG bucks. Not sure why but I was always fascinated with it. Also, I wont hide it, I always have a difficult time pulling that trigger. I know I will utilize the animal completely, and in each case I have the horns or shoulder mounts for looking back. My first deer was a spike, hes shoulder mounted, 2nd deer a small basket 6, he is skull cut mounted on an old piece of barn board, and my last deer was a nice heavy 7 pointer that is shoulder mounted, all deer were 6 years apart, its just how its turned out. I guess I wait for bigger deer NOW, since my last deer in 2014, because of the feeling I got knowing I harvested an older deer, I didnt feel as bad knowing he had a longer life than my past 2 deer. I personally have never harvested a doe because I have only ever seen them with other does, and again won't hide the fact that I can't bring myself to harvest a doe that is with other does to myself having guilt. That is just me, I have zero issues with other people doing what I can't bring myself to do, like I said it is just me. Half the enjoyment is just being out in the woods, it is something my dad and I have always done, trail cam pics are also a huge enjoyment catching pics of animals you never get to actually see with your eyes.
  16. Well i just came back to the house, was planning to tip toe to my spot to sit till dark. I checked my first cam on site, 0 pics in 4 days, wentbto the second cam which is where I was planning to hunt. Couple doe on cam thats all. This spot had several does, and bucks headed to a house in the distance who have apple trees in there yards. This week of last season had all kinds of bucks mid morning. This year there trees have zero apples. So im not sure where the deer are feeding this year at this point in season. Pretty much big woods, zero farms for about 30 miles. Stumped.

    Buck Beds

My question sort of ties in here. Literally an hour ago I found a spot that 6 or 7 rubs in a 10-12' diameter, some rubs and some light tickle marks. Seems matted down also, and has a trail leading in/out on both ends. This is in a transition type area with the spot being about 60' from a dried up pond with 6' tall vegetation, the other side of this tub cluster is woods for about 500' to backyards. Would this be considered a routine bed typically? Not looking to hijack here sorry. I did have a cam with me so I set it up nearby.
  18. I had no idea that Mc. D's had automated ordering machines. See this is why I always said that when the workers were complaining about lack of pay that it would shoot them self in the foot. I said that businesses would just run computers for customers to place orders themselves to limit staff due to wage increases. Apparently Mc. D's already utilizes such devices. Computer are good, but unfortunately replaces people.
  19. Going to climb a tree here in 3K in about an hour, feeling confident today, feeling like tonight is the night. Confident not cocky, been 2 yrs for a harvest. I just have that feeling for some strange reason. Good luck everyone! I know i need it
