  1. Didn't see a deer, I tried to be positive earlier, I knew that, I knew better. :-)
  2. Up in a tree in 3M. Oddly nervous, that tonights my night, just a funny feeling.
  3. LoL! I really meant tomorrow night I would make another haha. Yes yes, research.....just making a few three, or 4 quesadillas incase one "sucks" or isn't as good as the other 3. I am onto you...lol
  4. This might be a bit odd to some, and long winded but its honest.. I hunt because my dad, and I hunt togethor, since I was single digits old, now I'm 31. Its basically a way of life, and our favorite together hobby.... Also, I enjoy the meat, and love the way it connects you to your food. It is just rewarding to me, to know I provided the meat. Lastly, I love being in the woods experiencing the woods at it natural state. I find it amazing, and fascinating to see what is in the woods, knowing a huge 10 pointer lives where you walk in daylight, whefe you NEVER EVER catch a glimpse of him, is fascinating to me. Just like the bears, and MONSTER bucks, even coyotes....I am fascinated the point I cannot describe, how such animals can get so big, and/or old, and rarly if EVER seen, while sharing the area you live in.
  5. I am not sure if this is an already existed thread but it is, what it is. A buddy has a T bar style release, that releases as you pull harder.... not sure what this style is called. He said it was about $200....I believe in paying for quality products, and you get what you pay for, more than not. The issue is, I feel I cannot justify $200 for something I honestly don't use often at all. I don't practice near enough, and I don't see enough deer each year to even get a chance to make a shot. I find my wrist strap release to make noise, because I tend to forget its there, out of force of habit. What type do you use?
  6. Have to be honest, I never think of bbq sauce on things like this, its thr girlfriend who has a sweet tooth for it, lol. That sounds great! I love when I get dinner ideas from tv commerials, or word of mouth, or things of this nature! I hate to say it, but tomorrow wil be a long day now for you, because chicken quesadillas will be on your mind. I might make another myself. Post pics, enjoy.
  7. Jdubs- youre making quesadillas tomorrow now arent you lol? They were delicious. Diced chicken with chopped onion, cheddar jack, with my dry rub I make. We topped it with hickory smoked bbq sauce, and franks red hot, and sour cream.
  8. Chicken quesadillas tonight, we're fat on weekends...don't judge us.
  9. Thats so weird, but I will definitely keep this in mind if I spot such.
  10. Yes, familar with Jeffersonville, not far at all. Lol as far as the hunting club goes. I feel their pain, I put well over 100 hrs in the stand here last season because of the lack of sightings. I saw maybe 5 deer, and I believe it was the same 5. I work in 3M and those guys look at you like how the heck havent you seen any deer in all the hours you put in. They dont understand the difference 37 miles makes.
  11. TCIII- I will definitely start focusing on such areas. Thanks Biz- The discussed property does not have stone walls, although at home in 3k, there are some. I was always under the impression that the deer create the sloppy openings from being lazy. Thanks
  12. Thanks Chef, im near Glen spey in sullivan, and have a difficult time even seeing deer up here, i don't get it, but good luck.
  13. Im out behind the house in 3k. No rain, gentle breeze, but overcast.
  14. Tacc! Thanks so much, i live in 3k so that is music to my ears. Good luck to you. Good luck Biz...and to your dad. My dad and I hunt together a lot as well, I refuse to hunt with anyone else. Jpastor- thanks foor the info, I appreciate it. Sounds like a cool experience, I have had a couple amazing encounters with bucks this week, but not necessarily with does. Just right place, right time. Good luck...
  15. Slider size sammiches with Turkey, and/or salami, and swiss. Jerky, fun size candy bar from post-halloween sales, granola bars.
  16. Jpastor, you hunt orange county you said? What town if you dont mind me asking? I hunt near Middletown sometimes, and I was wondering if you see much chasing yet. I saw a small 6 pushing a doe Thursday, but nothing crazy.
  17. I'm back out in the same stand as last night. Had a deer, and turkies way up the old logging trail as I snuck in...
  18. Best sit for me tonight since 2014. Saw a nice 8 pointer, now that may not sound all too exciting to some, but I do not ever see big basket antlers....last time was when I got my big 7 in 2014. Anyways, first big deer I ever drew my bow on. I did great, pulled the bow back while sitting down, then slowly stood up, and put my knee on the seat(cheesy cheap ladder stand), and followed him waiting for him to get out from behind these tiny branches. He ended up turning, and walking away. He was 10-12 yards out, so I was very happy for the encounter. This is big for me because of the prosthetic arm, was always a bit nervous as to if I would be able to move around, and draw back in odd positions in different stands without spooking a smart older buck. Hopefully he shows up again tomorrow.
  19. Just saw a spike, the scent wick looked to have interested him, he walked in, sniffed around, and walked off the way he came.
  20. Thanks guys, I appreciate it. There are no fence lines, that I have seen, no farm fields either, just pure woods. However, I know guys say old logging areas are great spots. I do know that about 500' over from where I currently sit, is an old landing where they loaded the trucks when it was logged in the past, then there is about 3 or 4 skidder roads punched in that go way back in as far as my eye can see. The landing, and skidder rows are grass, and vegetation about 4 ft high, and relatively thick. I know the owner, and he has let me use a stand just over our land border, I could probably get permission to put a climber over near the skidder trails. I am wondering if bucks might travel on the old skidder paths. Other than that, we have a wet area, not necessarily swampy in my book, but it has big pines, and some puddles that never obsorb, but it is not thick, it is dark though compared to the surrounding areas, maybe 3-4 acres worth. This is actually inbetween the old logging landing, and that very small creek mentioned in the inital post.
  21. I have been out quite a bit, but haven't been able to post on here due to cell service at camp. I am back near home and out in 3M at the moment, lots of fresh rubs since this time last week, very encouraging since I have only saw 1 deer so far over 3 seperate pieces of property. Good luck all, and congrats to those who have been successful.
