    Lol. I do have to mention a disclaimer about my circus comment... I don't think I've ever hunted a rut until today. Last year I started hunting opening day of gun so I've never seen anything like this. The deer I've seen are just acting crazy. I'd almost like them to slow down a little bit.

    Uh yeah!! It's like a circus in the woods right now where I'm at in 8n. So far saw two bucks that I would shoot. 6 or so pointers. Not my target buck but I really want some meat. 7 doe. And one of the Buck looked like he was skipping while chasing her. Grunting all along.

    Just had a doe limping with some blood on her leg go by at 25 yards. 6 point hot on her trail grunting like crazy then I hear a snort wheeze and more grunting. They went by to fast for a shot.

    Two doe just strolled by at 25. No shot given so no shot taken. Good to see deer tho. Now traffic has taken over the airwaves so I can't hear the deer coming.

    Oh boy not another newbie! Just kidding. I was new here just a year ago and have learned a ton of information being new to hunting as well.

    I'm a fan of the smoker but as wolc123 says, frying pan, I prefer butter, salt and pepper is so good. I usually cook down some leeks and some sort of flavorful mushrooms too. If you check out the What's in your smoker thread I have a bunch of pictures of how I smoke venison though.

    Wonder if the squirrel is a craft brew kinda guy or maybe pounding natty ice? Funny thing was I caught only 5 minutes of football yesterday and happened to see it. It was funny how they joked about how nice his stride was.

    I saw that, it was funny but I don't think it had anything to do with beer. Had a second fiddle and focal banger last night my buddy got from VT. They were both great.

    Hot air balloon cruising in this wind. Just took off from next door to me. Wonder where they'll end up.

    However today I did carry in a gallon size bag of dirt and a licking branch from another property. Hoping to mess with a scrape near my stand after this mornings sit and then be back for the evening when I've seen the Bucks checking scrapes. Hope it works like I've planned.

    I carry no pack. Other than my weapon and maybe a cushion, If it doesn't go in a pocket or around my neck I don't bring it.

    I just bought a metal percalater that you can set next to a fire or on a wood stove to make coffee without electric. Gotta have some coffee in the morning.

    Depends on a lot of different things like, who the neighbors are, what the terrain is like, what the general deer population is for the area, food sources-do you have to create your own or not, what your goals and desires are. I hunt 5 acres and sometimes it's annoying to have your neighbor start mowing the lawn or having dogs bark but it's a great spot for deer. I also hunt 40 acres and have never seen a deer from the stand there but I like being in the middle of 40 acre woods. I wish I could have 200-400 acres but can't.

    I have only one hour to sit right now today and it would not be an opportune time to drop a deer if I do so I figured I better get out there because that's usually how it works.
