  1. 8n canandaigua. Trace snow on the ground but looks like more is on its way.
  2. I know it's not a fireball but I'm gona throw a curveball at the deer today!
  3. well, I don't think I'll get a deer sitting in front of this computer. I better head out. see ya guys out there in a few.
  4. This is my opening day. I sat from 615 until 730 in a long sleeve shirt when my wife had to leave for work. I know that's like 24 minutes of legal light but sometimes I hear that's all it takes. Or less. I just made it back out now. Just starting snowing where I am in 8 n and the bottom of my ladder stand picks up off the ground every now and the. While my tree bends. I told all the guys at work that they would one day this year go to work in the 70's and drive home in snow. I was close but didn't think it would be on a day off and especially not today. . This is weird
  5. I think we should rename you "Drop Tine Addict" They are cool to see
  6. Next week my smoker should be running for 3-5 days straight. oh yeah
  7. So I've never smoked either one of those three things. How'd they all turn out? Did the little steak bites get done faster for appetizers?
  8. In your experience what are the changes that happen after gun starts? No wrong answers here and no arguments either. The reason I ask is because I started hunting last year after the gun opener. Last years hunting for me was a bit of a whirlwind. I saw deer. I shot a doe. I shot a great buck. I didn't really learn that much about deer because of the rush. This year I bow hunted and never stopped scouting since last season. I learned a lot about deer behavior. I'm kinda wondering what differences I should expect between oct 1 and after this Saturday. I hunt private land but not large amounts of acres.
  9. Wow where in at in 8n earlier this week I joked that it was like a circus. And it was. The deer were everywhere. Since then it's like someone flipped a switch. Wonder where they went.
  10. Got in late this morning but I don't think there was any harm done. I have a couple hours this am and then a little time this afternoon. Any body have any recipes for first year bow tag soup? Should be tender considering first year right?
  11. I really like curried almost anything when it is done right.
  12. I saw this at wegmans the other day
  13. Had a rough day out of the woods today so I went out at 4 with crappy wind direction, stinking like you don't even want to know. No camo, old stinky carharts, stomped into stand and had some candy that was still in it's wrappers. (and no they were not fireballs.) The deer didn't really care as far as I could tell. Although I didn't get a shot at any. I saw one nice buck nose down chasing doe in circles in front of me down wind. I had 2 doe together 50 yards downwind grazing, they walked and another doe wandered to the same place and hung out till dark. At dark I got surrounded by doe and grunts but couldn't see any antlers and finally snuck out 10 minutes ago shivering.
  14. Wind just kicked me out. Saw mid sized buck, two doe almost walked in range, heard a buck grunt out of no where which always gets your attention and then saw a tall spike at the end but I was nervous my tree was about to snap or uproot. Time to get out when you start thinking of what to do when the tree goes down. Do you jump to another tree, keep your weapon/throw your weapon, ride it out, levitate. I think next time its windy I'll wear my cape just in case.
  15. I thought you were turkey feathers for a minute with that profile pic
  16. Thanks. I'm keeping an eye out cause now I have two doe upwind.
  17. Just had a mid sized buck walk by around 50 yards. He past me down wind and didn't really seem to care. Nose down
  18. Ha. Standing at my back window looking towards my tree stand hoping nothing walks by on the next ten minutes. After that I'll be in my stand and hope they will walk by. Pretty funny
  19. Thats pretty crazy tcIII. Waiting for my wife to get home from work at around 7 so I'll miss first light but at least I'll see where I'm stepping to be less noisy entering.
  20. 43 degrees here. Light cold breeze and I think the sun is trying to pop out. We'll see if the circus starts back up here.
  21. Sorry I don't know how to make it so you can just view video from the thread.
