  1. I popped a bicep tendon in my left arm (I'm left handed) back in July this summer, I am still at PT 2-3 times a week, can't draw my bow. Thankfully, NY has the option the last two weeks so I can get out. I honestly hope you never get hurt like this, but if you do, you will be VERY happy X Bows are legal in your state..
  2. Cool!! I knew they made only 1 I think that is sadly. Love them. How is it? Quiet? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. Thought Excaliber's were illegal in NY because of draw weight????
  4. This bear waited for my wife and I to go to bed, you can see him looking into my living room. The suet feeder he took off my deck I can't touch if I stand where he did, I'm 5'9". Bear has to be a 7 footer, thinking well over 400lbs.. He came back the following spring, I walked him off my property with the watering can in the pic!! Wife was screaming at me, bear was never more than 30 yards from me, popping his jaws and huffing... VERY cool to witness, after that, I kept my DW 41 magnum handy... Chased off 4 other bears that year... No clue what was bringing them in, I took all the feeders down after this bear, they never came back..
  5. That was first. Came out awesome. Wife lived it. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. Mixed 1lb of garlic/cheese bear sausage with 1lb bear burger, smoked them in my Camp Chef till they hit 150 degrees then seared them in cast iron till the hit 165 degrees. First bite I said "Why did I wait so long to hunt them" it was that good. Wife and friend loved them. I didnt add a thing to it, wanted to try it as is. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk

  9. OK.. the forum stopped me from liking any more posts!! Wow!! Thanks guys... OK.. Think I have everyone's questions answered below.. I used a T/C Pro Hunter 30-06 barrel, Federal Fusion 180gr ammo No, we are not allowed to bait bears in Ma., this was hunting over corn fields getting hit by bears. My boar weighed in at 260lbs, sent a tooth in for aging but will have to get back to you when they let me know. My youth hunter shot a 112lb sow. If I missed anyone's question, please let me know and I will remedy it.. Here is a pic of my youth hunters bear
  10. Got a new farm in MA this year, well over 450 acres, but farmer hates bears. Said I could hunt anything I wanted there, just had to hunt bears. So, started scouting in July, set up stands and ground blinds. Working with my Son and a youth hunter I've been mentoring for the past 5 years we all got into it. Started seeing bears hitting the corn the end of August, stands were set up perfectly. Opening day of the first season (3 weeks long) was Sept. 3rd, we had seen zero sign of any other people hunting.. My son and I go out, a guy walks into my son on stand 30 minutes before end of hunting time, say's "ooops" and walks off.. My son texts me, "My hunt is now over". I check my cameras, 4 other guys walking around during the day with rifles. I'm thinking "really?"... Whatever.. not my land, hunt how you want.. We hunt that week, no bears, just seeing more signs of other hunters.. Second week, my son can't go, youth hunter is big into hockey (An awesome player, 16.5 years old playing in a U20 league with 19 and 20 year old's), he can't go so I bring a buddy that owns the parents of my GSP Red and Sky. I can't go by myself because of an inflamed bicep tendon I can't drag anything. we hunt 2nd week, I pass on a small bear at like 2 yards, he see's another hunter and 2 couples, 1 driving around the cornfield he was hunting in a truck, the other couple just walking around.. I'm thinking "Good lord, it has to get better".. I hunt this week, last week of the first season, weather is PERFECT... Temps are cool... winds are perfect for our stands.. don't see any first night.. Last night, my last night I can hunt, my son was supposed to go, had to work, youth hunter and I go.. 6:45 I shoot this brute at 20 yards, 30 minutes later, my youth hunter, first time he's hunted now, shoots a small sow.. No one was out all week, they gave up, we persisted.. and scored big!!! Sorry for the long story but it was worth telling I think.. I'll have him weighed soon and post his weight.. check the skull on this guy!!!! This is the first year I ever hunted bears other than one hunt back in 1990, in Canada with the bow.. Going to be damn near impossible to beat this one but I will keep trying.. I am hooked..
  11. She got pick of the litter over the weekend... Kind of cool... This is my 4th GSP, first ever POTL...

  14. Thanks guys, I'll keep you all posted on how she is doing for sure... Can't wait to see her this season working with Red...
  15. This is Red's half sister, Sky.. She's 3 weeks old now, I bring her home on 10/13, she will be hunting right out of the gate, nothing to long, drawn out, but she will be out.. She's the 3rd largest of 12 and the biggest female.. Wife fell in love with her so it was inevitable she would be ours.. Will be doing preserve hunts with the two of them starting in January, she will be 5 months old, give her some serious experience for a few months. Put a few pics of Red in there, buddy said I can see it now "Red Sky in the mornings, pheasants take warning!!".. LOL
  16. I was definitely misled by the topic... So glad I read the post before posting pics..
  17. Yeah.. this is huge... I would only by recurved limbed X Bows...
  18. Hey, if you aren't to far from the Mass border, I would love to come help if you want a second caller. I just like playing the game and love calling in LB's to the gun!!! Think about it next year.. I won't even bring a gun.. LOL
  19. I hunted 5 or 6 days, filled both tags on long beards... 1 2 year old, 1 3 year old... not my "fastest" season.. hunted 3 days killed two 3 year olds last season..
  20. Thanks.. Good bull, was last afternoon of my hunt, you can see the sun going down... great memory...
  21. Turkey closest was 15 feet, longest was 49 yards, bow kill was 32 yds. Deer, bow, closest straight down, furthest was 32 yards Deer gun, closest was 8 yards Shotgun slug, furthest was 278 yds 30-06 Longest shot was in Africa, Gemsbok, 309 yards.
  22. Sawyers spray on anything not Elimitick clothing... Knock on wood, been years since I saw a tick on me doing this method.
  23. It was for me, LOL. This spot was "Plan B", was trying to coax 2 long beards out of this bowl in a hedgerow for my buddy, he's never killed a bird in NY and he is on one of those kicks of shooting birds in different states.. had other birds going but we were focused on the 2 in the bowl about 150 yards away.. All of a sudden, about 15 feet behind us on the other side of the hedgerow, this bird gobbles, I'm set up near the opening between the two fields so the bird has to come by me. The bird gobbles again like 5 feet behind us but then starts alarm putting, knowing this bird is leaving and the putting will kill the idea of the other birds coming in, I start yelping on my diaphragm call as I roll up to standing... The bird is moving away but nut running because he hears a hen, I get standing, red dot goes on the back of his head and BOOM!! dump him in the field.. Go out, grab him, go back to the set up.. Wait 10 minutes and start calling again.. The 2 birds in the bowl fire right back at me.. I ended up calling them out of the bowl, and the rocker of the two within 25 yards of my buddy... He shoots twice and MISSES!! LOL... if you are on Facebook you can hear some of my calling and him shooting and missing.. Worked them for an hour and a half and pulled them out of their bowl right to my buddies gun after I killed my bird... So I had a GREAT day... he was kicking himself all weekend.. LOL
