Holding those responsible
Rattler replied to Uptown Redneck's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
The 2nd Amendment wasn't written for deer hunting. How well did those "trained professionals" protect the people during the LA riots, Katrina and Ferguson? They are under no duty to protect any individual in America. The SCOTUS already ruled on that. You are on your own. If you think our government gives one sheet about you, you are delusional. I don't trust the government. Nobody should. And I don't fear them either, because we have the 2nd Amendment and the US Constitution, as well as many people who swore an oath to defend both, and intend to live up to that oath if need be, unlike the people running the government today. -

Obviously you don't believe in Homeland Defense, whether it be from terrorists, huge violent mobs like New Orleans saw after Katrina and Ferguson, or our own government moving further towards the dark side. -
Trump Explained

You're wrong about that. They are living where there are not enough jobs, thanks to Democrat control of their economies for so long. The people who vote for Republicans in the south want jobs and a better life. It's the people who vote for Democrats down south that want the checks to keep coming. -
Elmo, the deadline to change parties in NY was last October. But I guess you found that out by now.

That's not bad. Kimbers go for twice that.

I'm usually ready to go home by noon, especially when it's sunny and warm, but I have called in a few nice birds as late as 11:30 AM.

A lady friend of mine called to say hello. She likes to fish and I had a book on fishing for all the game fish in North America I wanted her to have. As we talked, she said her daughter is going on the youth turkey hunt with some other friends. It will be her first time hunting. She said they have lots of turkey on their land and usually do well. Mom bought her daughter a nice Mossberg 500 youth model in 20 gauge with screw in chokes to use. She got the turkey choke and 3" #5's for her too. As we talked, I asked if the girl has a sling. She did not. I told her to stop over and pick up the book and I'd give her one of the many extra slings I have that never gets used. I then started to find lots I stuff I never use anymore. Insulated camo coveralls, non-insulated camo coveralls, (both too small for me for years now) camo hat, neckerchief, face mask, license holder, gloves, seat cushion, belt, turkey call, hoodie, olive drab wool sweater, some netting, hand muff I used to use to bowhunt, a bore snake, and anything else I felt she might need to get started. I also scrounged up two good compact folding knives, some Cutters insect repellent and some bug bite relief spray. They came over yesterday evening and I gave them all this stuff. And since she plans to hunt deer too, I gave her 10 rounds of Winchester 20 gauge slugs to see how it shoots them later in the year. I also gave her a few rounds of 2 3/4" #3 Buckshot to have available if she ever needed to defend herself when home alone. (They live in a very rural area). We talked for awhile about hunting turkey, shooting guns and buying equipment. I answered a lot of her questions. I told her to call or e-mail anytime if she felt I could help her out. I like to do whatever I can to get new hunters started in the sport, every chance I get. She said she's going to call me about adding weight to the stock to cut recoil and adding some sights to the vent rib for slug shooting. I wished her good luck when they left. I hope she bags a nice one. Mom said they would invite me for the turkey dinner.

My first political topic
Rattler replied to BizCT's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
You think Trump would be a disaster but not Bernie? I don't think Trump is very good, but if the current candidates are all that's offered, I'm voting AGAINST Hillary & Bernie, even if it means voting for Trump. -
How much is the Model 7? If you want a real nice lightweight rifle, look into the Kimbers. The blued/walnut 84M models are real nice. For a little more you can get the Montana 84M in stainless/Kevlar. One tough mother of a hunting rifle that's made for accuracy and real light too, even with a 22" barrel.

Only if you want Hillary to be President -
Weatherby made some in Japan and Europe. Maybe still do.

Are any Browning guns still made in the USA? Ruger is. Kimber is. Mossberg is. Remington is, I think. Savage is, I think.

Why Tesla’s Model 3 Could Be the New Model T

The only thing I have with a lithium battery is my LG flip phone. And that's because they don't make one that uses anything else. Oh, and my laptop battery, which doesn't allow for an alternative either. The point is, lithium is very hazardous, much of it is mined on the surface using strip mining and the land cannot be reclaimed afterwards. Eco people are OK with it because they want it. They are against any mining that gathers anything they don't need, regardless of what others need. It's selective ecology. How long before people start to realize having huge amounts of stuff powered by lithium is going to be a complete "green" disaster in the future? -
I don't see the practical application of a short barrel on a bolt gun for woods hunting. The action is slower on fast follow up shots or shots at running game in the woods. In .308, with that barrel, it will be very loud and you're losing a lot of velocity using factory loads too. The laminate stock also adds weight, negating any weight savings you get from the shorter barrel. It may be handy in the thick woods, but you also loose a lot because it's a bolt gun. I'd look at a lever gun, or even the Ruger Mini-30 for woods hunting. Overall length would be the same, but they're better suited for thick woods hunting.

I agree. Charge them at least 5 times what it's worth too. I have very little regard for most of these Long Island loonies anyway. -
It's still easy to buy a 100% American made firearm. How many of you guys own a foreign made gun, that probably cost more than an American made one?

So most mining is condemned by eco-facists. Even fracking is hated. But Lithium mining is fine, even though it is probably the most environmentally disastrous mining that can be done. Go figure. -

He's not really running expecting to win. He's running to mess things up at the convention. -

Relax. It's standard legal procedure for the defendants to ask to have the suit dismissed. This judge just made a political decision, rather than the correct legal one. The Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2005 says it's illegal for this suit to proceed, so I expect it will not turn out well for the plaintiffs in the long run. -

Can Obama impose Marshall Law ?
Rattler replied to fasteddie's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
As if possible economic collapse, unchecked illegal immigration, terrorism from many different enemies foreign and domestic and political corruption, could ever cause it to happen. It's not paranoia when there is enough evidence to support a concern.
