  1. Both rounds are nearly identical. the 06 give you a little extra power but also a little extra kick. Unless you're planning on taking the rifle out west, the both rounds will do the same thing here in the east coast. As far as rifles go, I prefer the Remington 700. Savage also makes a bunch of great rifles...particularly if you're on a budget. I hear the Thompson/Center Venture is a great gun but they did have a recall a while ago. They should have the problem fixed by now.
  2. Fresh summer fruits. Mangos, cherries, etc.
  3. My 700 opens with the safety on. I have one of the newer ones. I also have a Savage. Savage also uses the 3 point safety. I agree. Not being able to open the bolt with the safety on is a safety issue.
  4. 20-20.....vision. I gave them a cold hard stare...if looks could kill.
  5. "Is a frog's ass water tight?"
  6. I've heard that used in a different context. Use to mean confusion. "A fart in the wind" You don't know where it came from.
  7. "D**k/a$$ tight" (Used to refer when over crowded. As in "It was so crowded, people were d**k/a$$ tight" or "Man, it is d**k/a$$ tight in here!")
  8. #9. I don't need to provide a "source" for my original post because I'm not stating a thesis here. I'm raising a philosophical question.
  9. Jupiter: #1. I think you're much too late for this conversation. #2. Restriction of freedom for greater good. Agreed. #3. Labelling me as a liberal or conservative. I don't like labelling anyone anything. No one is 100% liberal or conservative. Most people take a convservative stance on one issue and a liberal stance on another. #4. Progression is not a "restriction" of freedom. That's not what I said. Read what I said in context. I was responding to how people label anyone who questions this country as being anti-American but when in fact, it is by questioning ourselves is how we become better. #5. Apple versus Microsoft. Again, read it in context. I never compared the two OS'. When I said Apple over took Microsoft, I mean in market value. #6. Enron was the only one that got caught. I have enough friends in the banking industry to know that pretty much every major company will withhold certain accounting data till the last minute, time certain press releases, only show what's necessary, etc. All within legal parameters. They understand the rules and will stretch it to their limits. #7. Your argument that CEO needs to make a lot because they need to throw extravangant parties is probably not the best example to use. By the way...just a FYI. Sergey Brin walks around in jean and Vibram Five Fingers. #8. Minimum wage increases inflation - inflation increases minimum wage. It's a cycle. But you only added to my point. The market isn't completely free flowing. Governing bodies manipulate it all the time. As you stated in the very beginning. "Restriction of freedom for the greater good". Perfect example is how the SEC controls the way stocks are traded in the interest of keeping it "fair".
  10. "I'm straighter than 6 o'clock" "That girl is a butter face" (meaning = she has a nice body, damn "but 'er face....) "They're all over me like flies on warm sh*t on a hot summer night"
  11. It seem like there is never ever a perfect solution to everything. I've gotten much out of this as well. Thanks.
  12. I disagree. The most successful photographer isn't the best photography...just the one that advertise themselves the best and establishes connections. Unfortunately, doing so sort of takes away the fun away from it. A friend of mine use to work as a photo editor at amNY asked me to take some pictures for a weekly neighborhood profile assignment and he was short that week. So I went. Talk to a few people, took pictures, had them published in the paper. He paid me $150 free lance fee for the work but I told I didn't do it for the money and I did it more for the experience so we spend that $150 on a night out at the bar. I learned that day that the business aspects of it makes it unenjoyable. I rather take landscape shot where there's no one rushing me, I don't have to deal with anyone, etc. My friend took a position in Saudi Arabia shortly right after so unless I want to fly out to the middle east, no more assignments for me. In any event. My opinion is that my best work (and from what I can see, your work as well) matches that of a professional. The only difference for me is that I can't gaurantee the shot and do get enough of them. In a baseball analogy, my home runs travel just as far as a professionals. The difference is that the professional just hits it that far more often.
  13. I'm not sure what you mean. There's a law stating that I can't hunt deer out of season. Isn't this law a restrict of my freedom? Isn't it my right to be able to hunt deer whenever I feel like it?
  14. Union is another headache. Here's my experience with the union. I needed to have a new security door installed for my office. Facility Manager: Okay, they'll start at 8AM so can you come by at 8AM and open the door? Me: I start at 9AM, can't they start at 9AM instead? FM: No, they can't. They're union so that means they need to take their break at 10AM. If they start at 9AM, they'll only get an hours worth of work in which isn't much. They won't get much done. Me: Take a break at 10AM? Can't they take the break later? FM: No, they have to take a break at 10AM. It's not my call. So I had to come in at 8AM that day. Took 3 guys the entire day (they finished around 4PM due to their various "breaks") to install the new door. All they really had to do is install a bolt on the metal door and a new socket on the wall.
  15. WNY: Complete freedom is anarchy. Laws are in place to restrict some of that freedom so that certain people won't abuse their freedom at the cost of the majority. The question we as the people have to decide is whether that restriction is a benefits the majority? Setting minimum quality quality standards hurts the baby toy industry but benefits the majority. (company instead, goes overseas but that's another issue)
  16. They already do have one form of controlling salary. It's call minimum wage. As a result, companies shift their labor overseas where they can set up sweat shops. I wonder how the public would react if they abolished minimum wage so companies can open sweat shops here in the states?
  17. I'm near the end of my softball season. Being that we stink this year, I doubt we're making it into the playoffs. Once season ends, I'll get my Sundays back. I'll check my zero's and shoot the bow a few times and do some hiking/scouting as many weekends as possible during August and September. I usually mix scouting in with squirrel hunting in Sept/Oct.
  18. Works fine with the iPad. I get the option of using the mobile version or full version. Posting off it gets glitchy sometimes when trying to use full version.
  19. Government mandates the method and max base pay, stock holders determine the % or profit and base pay? Almost like a form of salary cap like football.
  20. 22s and shotgun shells, I'll carry in my pocket. Centerfires, I'll just load the gun. I figure if I empty the mag, then my day is done. Good or bad. I mean, would there be a time when hunting where you fired off 4 or 5 shots and it wasn't enough? That's not a rhetorical or a sarcastic question by the way...I'm really asking.
  21. I agree, which is why I think a base salary and heavily padded with incentives could work. WNY: CEO of a publicly traded company has to expose their salary. It's part of the territory. As far as Steve Jobs go, I don't know enough about him so maybe I should have used him but my point was that the CEO's who do the right thing and boost the company should be rewarded. Those who don't, should not.
