Small game hunting on Long Island
Elmo replied to Stretcher Guy's topic in Small Game and Predator Hunting
If hunting is allowed and the park doesn't specify a restriction, then you should be able to carry. Some parks specify. For example, I just stopped over at the Sterling Forest Ranger Station this past Saturday and asked about airguns usage before November 1st. Sterling Forest doesn't allow firearms before November 1st and I wanted to see where they stand on airguns. FYI: Airguns are not allowed in Sterling Forest prior to November 1st. Bashakill on the other hand has no such restrictions and since sparrows and starlings have no close season, you can technically hunt there during the summer. Again, each park has their own restrictions and the safest way to check is to check each individual park ranger station as well. -

Location, yes. Time of season? Please elaborate on that question. -
I have these. http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.com/sportsmans/Bludgeon-Blunt-Point-100-Grain/productDetail/Specialty-Points/prod999901360323/cat100556 They suck. They don't fly straight. Not very aero-dynamic so they tend to wobble in flight. I might get these to try them out: http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?r=view&i=419541 but I'm not stressing it enough to actually go out looking for them or paying shipping and handling.

As ong as you carry small game tips, what can they say? Hard to poach deer with a blunt head. Squirrels are tough with the bow especially when stalking without fufu arrows. They don't tend to sit still much when they're on the ground. Once, while coming back from a deer hunt, I tried to take a chipmunk that was sitting on a stump about 15-20 yards away. He jumped my shot. All they need to do is jump an inch (half their body width). My arrow went right pass where he was a split second ago, dug into the dirt, and hit a buried rock. Broke my broadhead. I won't take a shot at one again with small game tips.

Confusious say: "He who stands on toilet is high on pot." "Man who masturbates into cash register, comes into money." "Good to meet girl in park. Better to park meat in girl." "If you don't want to wash your hands after using the urinal, don't pee on your hands."

Airguns are classified as firearms but since the type is not clearly classified, whether it is closer to a rifle or to a shotgun is up to debate. While it resembles a rifle, the bullet doesn't travel as far as a center fire rifle does. The whole reason an area is shotgun only is because of the proximity of houses. Some place upstate that are shotgun only also allow airguns. I am not sure about Long Island. Again, you have to ask each individual governing body. -
I took a friend of mine once of those $0.25 peep shows in Time Square. He was visiting from Dallas and said he wanted to go off the usual tourist path and had to check out a peep show. This was late 90's. It was the filthiest thing I've ever saw. The girls there are even worst.

Well, technically she is a broad and at 86 degrees, she's probably feeling "hot" out there.

Bill, This isn't directly at you but rather, I'm making a general statement to many people I talk to and see in public. If it looks like crap, if it smells like crap, odds are it's crap. So many young kids today dress with their pants sagged down to their knees, hang out in corners, and tattoo themselves up and down and then they complain that cops stop and question them. Really? It's funny because I wear a shirt and tie, my tattoos are not visible at all, and I sit at a coffee shop reading a book and crazy enough...the cops never harrass me. Coincidence? The point I'm trying to make is that whatever message you want to send forth, be prepared for the response. If you want to pierce a horse shoe through your nose then expect to be stared at. If that's your thing, then cool. What evers. Just don't go around complaining about people staring at you. Again, Bill. This isn't directly towards you, it's just me venting in general and that comment reminded me of this.

My question then is, what the heck is a "saddle"?

Check local regulations. Some people may see pellet guns as toys but other see them as legitimate firearms. Seeing the power of modern day pellet guns, I can see why. Some parks than ban firearm usage may or may not ban pellet gun usage as well. If you want to be safe, treat the pellet guns as if it were a firearm and follow the same regulations as that of a firearm. The other way to be safe is to call and ask a DEC officer as well as the park ranger of the park you plan to hunt. -

I think someone was high on LSD once when he wandered into the woods and saw this really hot naked fairy run across the field. Not being sure if what he saw was real, he figured he ask.

Oy vey! That sucks. Sorry to hear about that. Since I grew up in the city, I always make a habit of locking the car door. When I lived in Michigan people use to think I was crazy for locking the car door each and every time I got out of the car.

I carry some crazy horrible new contraption called a "sell-you-law" device into the woods. Something Daniel Boone never even heard of so he certainly couldn't approve of it.

My brother is GI Joe. He is still an active service member protecting this country. He has enough military gear in his basement to change outifts several times a week and not have to do laundry. So when he goes hunting he takes his old beat-up fatigue. Why not? Why would he spend extra money buying "traditional" hunting outfit when he already has camo gear he can use at home? Why would he throw them away? I guess he needs to buy a coon skin hat just so that he can make the "traditionalist" happy? The shotgun he uses when hunting is a used Mossberg 500 pump that was used to clear tunnels in Afghanistan. It is desert camo color but he has since add some extras to it. I guess he's needs to get rid of this shotgun and buy a tradtional walnut stocked over under instead.

Yes. My fiance and I went hiking a couple of weeks ago. I saw a hot broad the whole time. She is perfectly proportioned.

I can't remember what we use in the office since I only put my feet on the table and never fix anything. I'll ask my guys once I get back to the office.

Got a real treat today. Saw a black bear off the side of a highway on my drive back from the Renaissance Faire. It was the first bear I have ever seen that wasn't in a cage.

Thanks, all for the well wishes. I feel blessed.
