  1. I have dish network and a so so verizon mifi card . Anybody use Hughes net ? Its my only other option being out in the country .
  2. I reload for 2 - 300 win mags , even buying new brass, I save about 20%. Reloading my accumulated brass, I can save 40% vs buying new . You will shoot more , developing your perfect load but shooting is fun practice. I have found , that you can load more accurate ammo as compared to factory premium ammo. I have the Hornady Classic kit and love it , did not care for the Lee press, seemed cheap.
  3. My brother in law took his nephew out yesterday and today ,saw 0 deer . Brother in law said his nephew has no interest to go on thanksgiving morning. I think we lost him ............
  4. I have never been a fan of underarmour, anytime I ever wore it , I felt cold and clammy .
  5. Probably an imbedded tick or something that would irritate the crap out of him . Only way to get rid of it is to scratch that itch.
  6. Fawns will breed. 4 PT came by about 80 yds out.2 in snow in 9k, sounds like opening of gun season.Amish must use a different calendar..
  7. Where are you hunting ? I' m heading down to my cabin in Randolph after work .
  8. 2.5 years old and around 105' to 110"
  9. After thinking about it, I wouldn't shoot his dog , but he doesn't know that. I got my point across. We will have a talk in the future.
  10. Saw 6 deer run by me at 1030 this morning , chased by the neighbors blue tick. I fired off a nasty text telling him that his dog won't be coming home ,if it happens again. He apologized and thanked me for not shooting him. End of story.
  11. Yeah, that's 3 hrs of your life you ll never get back.
  12. You did it right , now he's hooked. If it was cold ,raining and not see anything, he might think differently.Congrats on a nice buck.
  13. Try different brands of ammo . My 300 win mag would give me 3 to 4" groups at 100 yds. Then found the right ammo and have 3 touching at 100 and 1" group at 200 yds.
  14. I looking for some advice from experienced bee keepers. I came across this honey cob in my woods , would it be good to harvest the comb or leave it alone? I think the bees would be killed off if i messed with it. What do you think?
  15. I use the toe heaters , but I stick them to the bottom of my toes. After a few hours my feet feel clammy. I'll have to try sticking them to the top of my toes.
  16. I'm building a custom handcrafted log home so if you want to trade labor for hunting , I'm good with that. Poaching has always been bothering me . I have talked to many local Amish and have asked about taking deer out of season. They all said they know of people that do but of course they never would. It bothers me to no end that I always hear shooting at all hours of the day. Opening of bow season sounded like opening of gun season. My neighbors are all farming Amish so , yes they have better food and my land is all wooded. I was just hoping for more sightings for my brother ,who came up from Florida to hunt. I have to admit , that I have never had a break in or any problems with the Amish , they are good neighbors .i have friends that don't lock their doors on their camps because they get broken into so much. I will be heading to hunt Allegany State Park on Friday, its about 30 min drive and you can use rifle ,handguns and now allow sunday hunting for half the park. Everybody enjoy your family and friends on this Thanksgiving day. Mark
  17. Doc, I see you are in wny. What areas do you hunt . I'm probably overlapping your areas so what your saying ,greatly can effect me. Thanks
  18. Funny you mention the neighbors, I didn't want to go there, but here's the scoop.I m surrounded by Amish. They all have a ton of kids and they all hunt. But to be honest , there was more young kids that hunted then than there is now. I practice QDM, I let the small deer walk, but I bet it does little good.Over the years , I have recovered and tagged more gut shot , butt shot , or crippled deer than I can count. They will shoot a Fawn just as easily as a buck. If it's brown it's down, you can't eat the antlers they tell me. But what I'm hearing on this forum, is the same as what is going on here .Very few deer being seen. I don t want to be able to bait, but I think the DEC goes a little overboard. Next year maybe no doe urine, really ??
  19. No doubt about it that it needs more understory growth. My plan for next year is to cut as much as I have time for. Build a few box blinds to get my old butt out of the wind and rain , to be more comfortable on stand which will keep me out longer. My younger brother came up from Florida this week and I feel bad that he has only seen few deer. He has plans to come up next year, so I need to make some changes. As we sit here having lunch , a small doe runs across the field in front of the house , go figure.
  20. I love to still hunt. That's how I got my doe on opening day. A better internet here would certainly cut down on my frustration.
  21. I know I need to do more to improve the habitat, but I need time for that. In 2 yrs ,when I'm retired ,I'll have the time.Food plots are in the plans.
  22. Food plots to attract and keep deer on the property. This forum keeps the boredoom at bay for a little while.
