  1. archery [ahr-chuh-ree] Examples Word Origin See more synonyms on Thesaurus.com noun 1. the art, practice, or skill of an archer. 2. archers collectively, as in an army. 3. the equipment of an archer, as bows and arrows.
  2. Well, it probably would be alot better if they wouldnt weld it on that way. Thats alot of stress on some welds with no gussets or anything. You would think they would have notched it into the other bar, then added gussets over the seams for added strength. Chincy design and manufacturing. Also, that weld is garbage. Id bet my 13 year old daughter that has never welded anything could do better. Looks like it had zero penetration into either of the pieces they were welding together.
  3. Putting words in my mouth again Doc? Standard fare... Virginia currently is the only state that allows it during bow season. Thats a fact. I never said that it never will be allowed during bow season anywhere else. Thats also a fact. I did say that I think that it should not be allowed during bow season, as its a gun. Feel free to continue making things up, spin doctor.
  4. Go read one of the many crossbow threads, they always end up including reasons why they werent allowed until recently. All you like to do is argue, and you sound like a broken record. Enjoy...
  5. No, go back and read. The topic of the conversation is about the airbow being added to archery season in one state, and who would be for or against it being added to bow season. Good lord.
  6. blah blah blah blah blah The definition is out there, in black and white, read it. You dont get to make up your own facts.
  7. No, you can simply go back in the thread and see what my stance is on it. What Im referring to as your "rhetoric" is not the part about what has changed about Archery season. Go back and read what I said and let it sink in for a few before you reply.
  8. Yep, where it belongs. Gun season.
  9. Blah blah blah blah blah Open a dictionary
  10. Allowing it to be used for hunting isnt the conversation. Adding it to Archery season is. Nice try though.
  11. Seriously Doc, you need to stop. I have no delusions that what Im saying is anything more than my opinion, other than the facts I have presented. The definition of Archery is one of them. There has been no "crossbow takeover", and the sky is not falling. Bow season wasnt carved into the best part of the season, its really not a mystical time of the year, that part of the season is so good because of the low pressure nature of archery hunting. If you keep the pressure low on a large enough tract of land, you end up with lots of deer sightings, deer going about their business as usual, and what many would describe as good hunting all through the season. Whenever you whip out this rhetoric, I have to laugh because you use it in any discussion where someone disagrees with you. Its like clockwork.
  12. The mechanics of a recurve and a crossbow are the same. Energy stored in the limbs, energy transferred to the string, arrow fired off of the string. Like I said, look at the definition of Archery. Airguns are not archery. Thats a fact. Im not going to continuously repeat myself, if you feel like doing so, have at it.
  13. Archery season is for Archery equipment. I agree that NY should allow air guns, and I would support that. I would not support putting air guns into Archery season. The olympics are irrelevant to the conversation.
  14. BTW, Im not a crossbow guy, or a compound guy, or a gun guy, Im a hunter. My objection to the "airbow" being in archery season has nothing to do with how easy it is to use, how accurate it may or may not be, how far you can shoot it, its simply because its not a bow. Some of the anti-crossbow guys like to call them "crossguns" because they have a stock and look similar to a gun in some ways, but the mechanics of a crossbow are far closer to those of a vertical bow than a gun. That is not the case with the "airbow", it meets the definition of an air gun in every way.
  15. The difference in mechanics is what defines what type of weapon it is, regardless of what your opinion is. Its like trying to argue that purple is a primary color because its your favorite and you think it should be. You are trying to argue a fact with an opinion. Good luck.
  16. Looks nice, but they dont make one for my UTV
  17. So then, does this belong in archery season? http://www.swivelmachine.com/html/rimfire.htm
  18. I dont see that line as subjective at all. Look up the definition of archery. The airbow does not fit that except that it fires an arrow. An arrow alone does not define archery.
  19. Its still not a bow. Remove the arrow from the equation and there is nothing about the "airbow" that remotely resembles a bow. No limbs, no string, no cams, etc.
  20. Because its not a bow, its an airgun. It does not fire an arrow off of a string powered by limbs. Thats where I draw the line between archery and not archery. As far as drawing a crossbow goes, they make cranks and other drawing mechanisms. Not much muscle power needed.
  21. It looks like it has a 2" receiver tube on the disc that goes all the way to the rear of the framing. Probably wouldnt be too hard to add another gang behind it. Opps, I was looking at the wrong one. So if you look up the Impact Implements disc, thats the one that has the receiver tube on it. I wonder if you could buy that, and hook it up to the Black Boar lift, behind the Black Boar disc blades that go on the bars.
  22. I just found another brand that is less money. Take a look at Impact Implements. Basically the same thing.
  23. Whoa! That looks really sweet! Ill be following this thread, because that might be just what Im looking for!
