We get a ton of mice as well. What has worked best for me is a 5 gallon bucket with a piece of PVC across the top and a 2x4 going from the floor to the PVC. Then I put about 3 inches of antifreeze in it. The mice love the sweet smell, crawl up the 2x4 and onto the PVC. When the start sniffing and looking down at the antifreeze, they slip off and fall in. Youll want to check it every couple of days and get rid of the dead ones. Dont just throw them where other animals can get to them though, and dont do this in areas where you have little kids, dogs or cats. I put one in the basement and one in the garage. I also put out some of those D-Con poison baits in the attic, basement and garage. Works for me.

LOL, I dont think we need to start comparing where each other are in life. Tattle tale? How about law abiding citizen. I can predict however, where the attitude that its ok to threaten or assault someone with no provocation is gonna get you. -
It would be good if it got passed. From the way I read it though, I dont think NY permit holders will be able to carry in other states, as it says "all states to allow out-of-state visitors to carry concealed firearms as long as the laws of the visitors' home states allow them to do so" and NY's permit does not say you can carry to another state. Is this what you guys read it as or am I getting the wrong impression?

Yeah it drives me nuts, but my better half leaves me alone for the rest of deer season, so it works out. This year we actually have the majority of our Christmas shopping done already.

I have pics of some of them around here somewhere. Pretty cool to see.

Congrats guys!

You seem to have a real problem with reading comprehension my friend. Nobody is saying they would set a damn foot on your land or anyone else's, we are all talking about spotlighting from a public highway, not driving up your private logging road. BTW, if you or anyone else threatened me in any way while I was doing something perfectly legal, youd better believe that you or any other person's ass would be in jail. -
I wouldnt mind being that guy. The ML was photoshopped in.

Huge Buck Ithaca/Cayuga Heights 16 pt?

Is that a story going around about the buck in the OP or something different? -
I agree. Its hard to hold a steady shot from a tree thats swaying back and forth. It also tends to make me sleepy.

Ive shot at the range a bunch of times with a gusty cross wind before, still shot out to 30 yards without an issue. Out at either 40 or 50 (cant remember which) the arrows still hit within the intended target, but when you go looked at them, the rear of the arrow was kicked out a bit, in the direction the wind was blowing so it had some effect at longer ranges. It might depend on the speed of the bow you are shooting, Im not sure.

Congrats to your buddy!

Youd be surprised Joe. A friend of my father's has a 10 on his wall that he shot in the mid 80s in an old orchard behind his home, not far from my father's house. That deer has mass for days and you can fit your chest inside of the mains. Very tall tines as well. It has never been entered into the books and probably never will be. Another friend of mine has a bunch of 140+ deer that hes taken over the years, and hes only ever entered 1 into the books. Lots of guys like to keep themselves off the radar. -
I stayed out of the woods yesterday and will for the first half of today to get things done around here. My list is done and then some. The only things I have to do for the first 9 days of gun season is make it to Thanksgiving dinner and go with my fiance to do the Black Friday shopping. Other than that, I wont be around.

The DEC is not going to hassle you as long as you are spotting legally, they just ask to make sure you dont have a gun or bow in the car. Ive had them pull up while Im out before, no BS involved. Other than the past couple of years, I have gone spotting every year. Never once have I even considered shooting one from the car, at night or illegally otherwise. I just enjoy looking at the deer that are around, they dont stay on the same property all the time, especially during the rut. You could have a buck from 3 or more miles away walk by your stand. If you dont like to do it, fine, but saying things like "I have never myself heard of someone spot lighting a deer unless they are jacking it!!" just makes you sound silly. You shouldnt paint with such a broad brush. -

Gottcha. Yeah all they allow now is deer and bear. Probably due to the number of hikers and mtn bikers in there. People have trails all over the place in there for bikes. -
+1

Huge Buck Ithaca/Cayuga Heights 16 pt?
WNYBuckHunter replied to HectorBuckBuster's topic in Bow Hunting
There are plenty of big, even giant bucks killed legally each year that dont go "public". Dont be shocked if doesnt pop up in the newspapers, etc. Also remember, bucks travel long distances this time of the year, so it may have been killed miles away from the campus, golf course or hunting program. It is definately the same deer though, look at the white markings near the eyes, they are identical. Lost some mass and points this year. -

Turkey hunting? Was that a long time ago, because they only allow deer and bear hunting there now. No small game or other species hunting is allowed in the park. -
Nobody is saying WMUs are not too large to really manage in the best way. Go drive NY roads right now, most of the deer you will find hit are bucks. Regardless of how many does are in an area, bucks move long distances this time of the year. Again, I ask, what do YOU think is going to happen with an either sex tag in every gun hunter's hand in the state?

Might be the same one. If so, it was on the down slope. Look at the bases, they look to be smaller on the dead deer vs the one on the golf course.
