  1. You guys remember that video of the buck with its whole upper back and shoulder laid wide open? Somebody posted it on here a year or 2 ago and I heard it on internet recently, too. As he walked, you could see minute detail of the muscles and bones in his upper shoulder moving; wonder how long he lasted....
  2. Definitely!! always a struggle to try and juggle Muzzle season and hanging Christmas lights, decorating house, and getting all the baking done. Just finished doing the decorations last nite so, good to go!!
  3. Watching their behavior during Rifle over the years-and how, after opening weekend they, quite literally, become Phantoms- doesnt surprise me in the least.
  4. I'm, actually, goin out Wed, morning early for the 6 day in NJ , hopefully. Teachin an online class, currently, so , took the day off to go out. I'm gonna try to scoot over mid day today and set my stand in a spot.
  5. If we're #1, then California has to be a close 2nd, right? I see on the news they arrested a dude in Ca for shooting at home intruders; can you believe that?
  6. And then blame rightwing extremists for the shortage
  7. Guys; yesterday, went to David and tried to purchase ammo for my Grandfathers old 300 Savage and guy says they dont make regular anymore cuz its an older Make/Model Deer Rifle. Any recommendations where I might purchase this?
  8. Ohhh, thats a sweet setup, right there!! I would use that puppy to ride to my spot-put the climber in the cart!!
  9. Agreed; this season, I'm subscribing to the "More is less" maxim and am tryin to lighten the load I haul in. Sleds a good idea, I think; just keep it in the truck and if you get somethin, go back and get it? Either way, theres never gonna be a perfect scenario, but thats likely, what i'd do if i purchased one.
  10. This is pretty scary: https://x.com/Tslind33/status/1730855206634852535?s=20 With that new strain of respiratory virus picking up speed in (Guess where!!) China, how long till this becomes a reality for us here in NY?
  11. Love your screen name on here , FL; always meant to tell you that
  12. New people cant join on here right now? Why not? Is there a ceiling on membership or something?
  13. My GF's son and I saw a nice buck early this am in the Mahwah village limits a little before 6. I swear to God theyre doin better and better in Suburbia!!
  14. Too busy, unfortunately, to make it up to our Hunting camp in the 'Cats this weekend , but gonna try to hunt in Jersey next week, if possible cuz its closer and more convenient right now. One thing I notice about NJ Deer season is, first of all, its so damn short!! Only 6 days for firearm- are you kidding?? Also, the season opners on a Monday, which sucks IMHO (used to be that way in NY, too, of course, though, but at least our state had the common sense to switch to a Saturday opener ).
  15. Yeah, it did get kinda ugly there for awhile immediately before the split, as I recall; I knew that this site would survive, though, cuz there's so many members. Thing is, it was all over politics, right? Many of the guys that left were complaining about the politics section; some even calling for it be removed. Why? For me at least, I would suggest an excellent method of removing the political section: Dont effin read it , then !! And you know what? Theres a political section over there, too , so, whats the diff?
  16. Yeah, I agree. I probably prefer this site a little more because I've been a member much longer here, but other ones nice to jump on occasionally to see what theyre chattin about, too.
  17. As many of you may know, until like 2 days ago, I hadnt been posting on the forum for a while- for, like 7-8 months, I'd say- which is quite some time. Been busy as HELL the past number of months, such that I only went fishing 2-3 times this past season, a trifling amount for me. (My profile pic should provide some indication that I am definitely, much more of a devoted fisherman than a hunter, although I dearly love both!). Anyway, I havent been posting on ANY forums that I'm a member of during that time-not just this one- including several fishing forums and also, other hunting forums, As I recall from when I was last active on here , I remember that many long time members had bailed to the other forum, NY Woods & Water. I did end up joining that forum early last year and checked it out again the other day when I posted on here. To me, theyre both almost identical and I dont really understand why the schism occurred in the first place. Anyone else hold dual membership with both forums? ( Incidentally,I also joined a NJ Hunting forum cuz decided to buy a Jersey license this year since its in such close proximity to me ).
  18. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email from a young man in his early 30's inquiring about our hunting club the other day!! This guy says he-and his younger brother- have been hunting their entire lives and would like to join a club. Yes, they are rare, indeed, but a few young people are still into it!!
  19. Wow- nice job!! You wont forget that experience anytime soon, ill bet !!
