  1. Nice. So about when would they getup and head out to feed again would you say-roughly?
  2. Don’t give up !! I feel the same way but still gonna hang in there a bit longer . Try a different spot for a change and see what happens !!
  3. What do they do during the full moon period then - they still gotta eat!!
  4. Are you not seeing deer lately ? Last 3x been out , haven’t seen a thing , until driving back to camp ; then , they were in the fields grazin on private property lol.
  5. If we’re votin by mail again they will ALWAYS have a good chance , unfortunately!!
  6. I’ve read tons of articles pertaining to this issue , and they all seem to contradict one another . Basically ,1 group believes that they can and that many do after the opener ; conversely , the opposing camp says no , that can’t because deer need to move and eat every few hours . I tend to believe both sides have baked points and that in reality , deer will stay in or near their bedding areas / sanctuary zones throughout daylight , only getting up to stretch , pee and poop and maybe snack a little bit . But this is all very close , within 100 yds of where they’re bedding maybe . This time of the season, They won’t trek out till right near sunset and will essentially stay out all night roaming and feeding . What do you think ?
  7. So you’re theory is that they stay up longer feeding at night I guess after a full moon and bed down later , like right before sunup and then sleep ina bit , I guess?
  8. Have you had success during that time frame ?
  9. When youre on watch, I believe being in the air is advantageous, but I agree with the mobility factor, too. I like to get down from time to time and do a little still hunting during midday, then climb back up for second watch in the pm.
  10. I dont know if you do or you dont; Are you suggesting , however, that Grouse does? Also, who's Rattler? Ive seen that moniker pop up before- who is he?
  11. Did I? I did not realize that, but I am impressed that apparently you did!! I did , btw, decide that the "humility" reflected in your posts was nonexistsent as compared to his; thats why I busted your chops!! You appear to attach a great deal of signfificance to your posts !! lol
  12. Oh, ok so you were basically stand hunting (in a way, I guess). Im goin tomorrow but not sure if I should walk a little bit to stir up some trouble or stick to my stand spots awhile longer. Im afraid if I still hunt, Ill end up busting deer( that ill never see again till next season) and not getting a good shot opportunity cuz I'm limited with the muzzleloader. Good for you though, Grouse, sounds like you very well in the woods!!
  13. Veery nice: Congrats!! Were you standhunting or did you stillhunt? I'm tryin to decide if i wanna sit in a stand this friday or walk around alittle bit.
  14. They have those condoms for the barrel, too although I wasn’t able to find any at Davis - supply/ distribution issue ?
  15. Can you still hunt effectively with muzzleloader though?
  16. Wow, thats quite a story!! So youre saying the buck was like 10 yds from you the whole time you were in your stand then and would have stayed there had you stayed put till sunset?
  17. Yeah, but wouldnt that also limit your choice of trees using sticks too, or no? Ive never used sticks so dont squat about em!!
  18. Mike said something in the other thread I started that really resonated, that after the opener, youre not gonna find/see der in open areas any longer and basically, are much harder to encounter. everyone knows this, so how do you guys adapt/modify your strategy to have success now late season? All the places Im hunting now still have sign, maybe not as much, but still there, indicating deer are frequenting those areas, but probbaly only at night. so where do you find them now during shooting hours?
  19. Oh ok, so you use sticks. what about climbers -dont like 'em?
  20. Probably true, but hey: he must be a hell of a Hunter !!
  21. I like it but I always feel like i'm missing deer visually further out unless I'm up high, you know? Do you see alot of deer where you hunt?
