  1. VH, the article you provided is kind of luke-warm , at best in support of your contention that Democrats serve hunters interets more sufficiently than Republicans, dont you think? I mean, this article is centered mainly around regional/state poltics in Montana and refers more to local republican party rule than anything. Moreover, one guy who's quoted in the article even mentioned that the it is dubious that the Dems would be even better, and probably worse. This article is hardly a ringing endorsement for convincing Hunters to support Dems--you can do better!!
  2. Me too, almost exactly the same ; based on my own personal history and experience, my gut tells me that this law would be abused in a similar manner.
  3. You dont care about the 2nd Amendment? I am very saddened to hear that, really. Well ,that is unfortunate; maybe someday they will even come for your bow too .
  4. Mike, with all due respect...really? No you wouldnt!! You would NOT be ok with this piece of legislation passing--no freakin way!! And Just because it --as written-- doesnt affect youre bow equipment , you dont care how ot impacts the rest of us?? Tell me I'm wrong in what I just inferred from what youre saying cuz, if true, thats pretty messed up
  5. I would LOVE to get me some Elk; arent they(i.e., DEC) trying to bring them back in NY?
  6. looks like that 13 degree adjustment on my compass between magnetic and "true" north when in NY will have to be adjusted
  7. I agree, a back door way of denying the vast majority of us our 2nd A. rights. I could be paranoid , but I can envision alot here--like Exes. neighbors that dont like you, etc.--callin ATF to report youre a drunk , which may put the onus on YOU to prove youre not.
  8. Maybe in 1980 that would be true; not so much today, I would think. You dont believe that The sentiments--and subsequent reaction-- youre suggesting from your example are exclusive to white people, right? When I was in the army, I hooked up with a black chick one night and next day , went over to see her at her brothers barracks. He was standing there with a couple of his friends when I walked in, and refused to shake my hand or talk to me--same with his friends. Back in the day, it was a common reaction from ALL races, trust me. But I dont think its as prevalent today-- non-existent? No, but far less common for sure.
  9. Dude, this legislation --I think-- requires that ALL guns be registered , insured and a license issued --which expires every 5 years-- on ALL GUNS. Am i Wrong? I just read through it and they keep referring to ALL FIREARMS and further, dont provide a section which defines or denotes what is considered "a Firearm" (unless I missed it). So, Im thinking its everything INCLUDING all of our hunting rifles and shit!! that sucks!! Do you want to have to go and register all of the guns that youve had for years--maybe simce you were a kid--and give the Feds the power to come and confiscate them from you cuz yoydont pass the Psychological Fitness portion of the licencing? Thats bullshit !! Most of us would fail when they interview someone around us that has a vendetta , and then they come in and take my Grandfathers Savage from me?? No effin way!!! I truly hope that is not the case , but , as it stand right now, appears so.
  10. As I'm sure youve all noticed, theres been alot of controversy around here as of late centered around my man VH lol. Based on several of the posts that I've read, it appears that there is a belief shared by, at least some, that hunting and the holding of liberal political views are incompatible, a belief that --I assume-- is mostly centered on 2nd amendment rights and its protection. Now, In NO WAY am I speaking for anyone, but I think its fair and accurate to describe the vast majority of members on this forum as fairly conservative and who tend to vote Republican. I , myself am included in the masses assumed here and identify my views as being predominantly Center-right . I'm pro-gun, pro strong national defense, pro capitalist and VERY patriotic; however, I'm also prochoice and , although not fond of gay marriage, I would not oppose it either as I find such a position to be hypocritical to our values and belief system (i.e., everyone has a right to invidual pursuit of happiness, you know, that sort of shit lol). Anyway, a few guys on here appear (an assumption i'm making purely on the content and nature of their posts, mind you) to hold political views that I would describe as liberal, or left leaning at the very least. Thats totally fine w me and actually, I've enjoyed much of the discourse weve had the past several weeks. Sometimes it gets a little nasty--which is regrettable-- but other than that, I think that debate and sharing of ideas is a good thing and truly hope it continues. So overall, I would say that hunting and being liberal are NOT mutually exclusive AS LONG AS THOSE LIBERAL VIEWS YOU HAVE DO NOT INFRINGE/RESRICT OR REDUCE THE PROTECTIONS PROVIDED BY THE 2ND A. IN ANY WAY, SHAPE OR FORM!!. If your political belief system however, does include a weakening/removal of said rights , then I admit --and i think many others on here would agree with me on this--that I dont get you!! What do you think?
  11. Gotcha , so its the cartridge size--and amount of powder present therein--thats different, right? So, for example, a 30-06 is a bigger bullet than a 300 Savage cuz its got more gunpowder correct?
  12. I dont disagree with your assertion that he demands loyalty from his underlings; that is very obvious IMHO. Also, I would agree with your assessment that he comports himself in a rather crass and undignified manner. But most divisive?? I respectfully diagree. I found his predecessor to be far more divisive, to be honest
  13. Yeah, I never understood why guys like him--and George Soros too-- are liberal, cuz theyre obviously super rich (arent they billionaires? ); so, they must be pro-business, right? Id firgure them too be Conservative and VERY pro capitalist cuz thats the system which enabled them to make their fortunes , right?? I dont get it!!
  14. Oh ok, so a 50 cal muzzleloader bullet has same diameter as a 50 cal machine gun bullet then? So, how are they different? I know the 50 cal muzzle is saboted and is basically a projectile and the 50 cal ammo for a machine gun has powder in the jacket , anyhting else? Also, what does mag mean? At the start of hunting season, I attempted to purchase some rounds for my 300 Savage, but mistakenly, I asked for the 300 magnum instead. As it turned out, they were too big. So, is magnum like a round with more powder in the jacket or something?
  15. Ok, so--at the risk of gettin razzed here for not knowing squat about rifle/ammo sizes (i.e., the caliber designation) -- you mind givin me a quick lesson on what caliber means?? Whats a 50 caliber and how is it different for the big military rounds and the 50 cal saboted rounds I buy for my muzzleloader?
  16. Alright, I'm gonna read through this mumbo jumbo more I guess cuz, at first, I wasnt getting that from just skimming the doc. If you guys are right, this aint good
  17. Yes!!! Thats what I remember!! Huge rounds !! Been a LONG time since I shot one, like maybe 1988 or so!! lol Great pics , thank you
