  1. You found some beauties!!!
  2. I was out yesterday doing a little turkey scouting/shed hunting and came across this oldie. Wish I would have found it a few years ago. Anyways, its shed #31 for the season... This is what he looked liked in 2011:
  3. New shedding ground is always a good thing. Half of this years crop came from ground I'd never stepped foot on before a few weeks ago.
  4. Lots of acres of private property. I prefer areas with ag fields...and knowing where the deer winter is a big key to finding their antlers.
  5. You are correct based on my observations...I've seen some bucks that blow up after they hit 3 years old and others that don't really reach the level that you are expecting them too. Good luck with that guy this fall. Just remember that if you kill him you won't be able to find his sheds next spring!
  6. Nice find!!! It's always awesome to have consecutive years sheds from the same buck.
  7. Another before work set from friday, makes an even 30 for the season. I found these babies laying out in a harvested beanfield. No ATL's on these ones...I took some but ended up losing my phone on the way back to the truck...
  8. Made it out for another quick hour walk before work today and snatched up a cute little 8pt set. Wish the big ones would fall this way. Any ways,my 8th set of the season and overall sheds numbers 27 and 28.
  9. Thanks. Looks like we are the only two still doing the shed hunting thing?
  10. Made it out for an hour before work and picked up this nice little 8pt set...
  11. Nice! I've got a few spots that I want to hit yet but hope to wrap the season up over the weekend.
  12. Awesome. I'm starting to get amp'd about chasing longbeards!!!
  13. Got a few outings in me them it's time to shift my attention to killing gobblers!!!
  14. Didn't really kill it over the weekend like I was hoping, I only found a small one yesterday and one old chewed up relic of an antler today bringing the yearly total to 24 sheds, My wife made a remarkable find today. We were driving down the road 40 mph and she turned to me and said "I think I just saw a big shed laying in the grass!" I turned around and sure enough there are white tines sticking up about 30 yds off the road. She went out and grabbed it and I realized it was last years antler from the big browtined buck I found a few weeks ago. I also found the matching antler from last year back in January. Together if they weren't chewed and busted up by the bean harvester the set would have grossed around 145". Needless to say, I am SO proud of her first road shed!!!
  15. The sheds make it seem that way. I thought he was probably 4.5 based on his huge body. I wish I could have weighed him, he was for sure 200+ dressed...
  16. Cool story to #8, it was the match to a shed that I found in 2012... In October 2012 I found that deer dead, he grew A LOT in one year!!!
  17. Frday's haul: #1 was a dinker road shed, no ATL. #2 was a decent one, my wife's first... #3 oldie... #4 wife second, super oldie... #5 another oldie... #6... #7... #8, My first hanger... Day's total...
  18. Made it for three hours between raindrops...found 8, nothing special but antlers none the less. Makes 21 for the season. I plan on hitting it hard tomorrow and sunday, I'll post pics tomorrow.
  19. Well, looks like shed hunting will have to be put on hold for a couple of days now...
  20. Two more sets from yesterday (same spot as last 10-pt set). Not bad for an hour walk before work!!! DInkers laying under a pine tree..
  21. Awesome, too bad a couple of those monsters aren't fresh!!!
  22. Nice set from yesterday's 5-minute shed hunt, #8 and #9 for the season: Both in sight of the truck!!! They were about 40 yds apart, I dropped the first one next to the second to take the ATL:
  23. Saw two bucks saturday evening in one of my shedding spots that were still carrying their headgear. I'm getting super antsy to get back out after some sheds!!!
  24. Congrats Sam, sounds like an awesome trip.!!! Gotta love it when you can find the sheds off of deer that you have history with!!! I've got a few local bucks whose antlers I'll be looking for over the next few weeks after the snow is all gone. I haven't hit any woods/brush yet, just a few fields... Good luck here in NY.
