  1. Awesome man!!! I think that I may have cried when I saw the squirrel damage...
  2. Shed #7 today. Hopefully, I'll add a couple more tomorrow before the storm hits...
  3. I'm in NE Steuben County. Most of the woods here still have snow but a lot of fields are melted off. This particular area is a big open expanse of muckland...the dark soil sucks in the heat and helps to melt off the snow quicker.
  4. Finally, all of the walking pays off!!! Pics at the end of the thread... http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/20891-wny-bowhunters-2014-shed-journal/
  5. Picked up #6 this afternoon out of a harvested beanfield. Just an awesome shed with it's huge bladed browtine and heavy mass. No luck matching it up yet. There is a big section of picked corn next to where it was laying...I hate the thought but I may have to walk it and see if the other side it hiding in it. I hate shed hunting in corn!!! ATL: Unbelievably, shed #2 from earlier in this thread was last year's antler from the same deer. The two were found about 200-250 yds apart in the same field. He added mass and length in the browtine but that's about it...
  6. Picked up a decent 10pt set earlier this afternoon...
  7. It's really been a frustrating shedding season so far...
  8. Finally broke the ice and picked up shed #3 this afternoon.
  9. Good eye! I sent it out to be dipped over the summer in 2011. The original duratouch finish was looking pretty rough. I really like the Bottomland pattern too.
  10. My gobbler killer is a Browning BPS fitted with a Pure Gold .670 choke and 3.5" Hevi Magnum Blends. I bought this gun in spring of '08 and it's currently batting 19 of 21 (one miss wasn't mine)... A few victims:
  11. I've really been thinking about getting a lab just for that purpose.
  12. These ones are still safely attached to the owner...
  13. Today's camera check revealed that my most wanted sheds of the year are MIA. I'll probably wait until the snow melts to try to recover them. Hopefully, the squirrels don't get to them first. Notice the notch in the bottom of his right ear...
  14. I saw 7-8 different antlered bucks over the weekend. It shouldn't me too much longer...
  15. Saw a bunch of deer out in a combined cornfield last night on the way home from work...4 bucks in the bunch that still had antlers, including one NICE one.
  16. I put a camera back up on monday out of boredom, checked it today and had my favorite 2 year old (aka "Wannabe) show up this morning still holding his antlers. He's not the biggest buck in the area but has awesome potential for the upcoming year. I hope I can snag his sheds...that is, if they ever hit the ground.
  17. Here are a couple better pics of the shed I found a few weeks back...
  18. I checked a camera yesterday and had one of the bucks who's sheds that I want still holding on to them monday night.
  19. I've been in a serious slump for the past few weeks...been checking my normal shed hunting areas...plenty of deer sign everywhere but no antlers to be found. Hopefully, my luck will change soon.
  20. Congrats! I still its still a bit early in my area yet.
  21. I also consider "60" to be the benchmark of a really good shed for this state. I typically find a couple every season that will hit that mark.
  22. So far things look fine in my area of NE Steuben County...most of the deer haven't been too overly stressed thus far as most of the bucks are still packing antlers. IMHO it's been better on the deer than last year at this time. My area has been almost snow free for 2.5 weeks now...
  23. The pics really don't do the antler justice...10" bladed G2, 6.5" browtine and a 5" base. It is possibly the heaviest antler that I have found mass/weight wise. If the tines were still intact and you doubled it and added a 17-18" spread...this guy would have been a 147-148" 8-pt (not too shabby).
