  1. He sure didn't put on much bone from last year... I saw this buck monday evening. He came out into a cut cornfield where I'll be set-up tonight in a new stand. I'm debating whether or not he's a shooter for this early in season should he show up again. My goal is a 3.5 year old buck, reguardless of score. He fits the bill, but like I said...it's early yet!!!
  2. Checked the cam again on the way to hang a stand yesterday and found 4 early morning visitors on the card. I think these 3 yearling bucks (spike, 5-pt, 4-pt.) are the smallest bucks on the farm... This guy is a 3.5 year old...good body size...not too great in the headgear department.
  3. What game farm did he shoot it on??? Just joking, congrats to your buddy on an awesome buck!!!
  4. That's funny. My buddy who runs the bowshop here in town used to live in NH and he uses the term "corker" a lot too...never heard anyone else say it...lol.
  5. Went back to the farm today to try to find a spot to hang a stand where all the action was yest. evening and noticed fresh paw marks in the cam scrape on the way in. I pulled the card and found that Dagger had visited again overnight. He's looking pretty studly and appears to be teasing me now. What I don't like is that he's hanging out next to the road a lot. I sure don't want him to end up in the back of a truck next weekend with a rifle-hole through him and his retinas burned out by a spotlight...
  6. Welcome to the site Mike. Let's see some of those pics (I don't use facebook)!!!
  7. I shot a doe with twin button-bucks last night. The fawns are perfectly capable of surving on their own now with most being around 4 months old. Biologist agree that at 90-100 days old a fawn is now considered "a deer" with a fully formed digestive tract and a diet identical to that of an adult deer. Her milk was all dried up. This may seem a bit cold-hearted but the truth is a fawn is nothing like a human child...nature designed them to grow up quickly in a hostile world...they will get along just fine without their mothers's guidance at this stage in their lives. After all, how many lone button bucks do you see wandering around by themselves during bow season...lots of 'em!!!
  8. Congrats phade, way to get it done on opening day!!! What are you gonna do for the rest of the season now...lol???
  9. I set a camera up on this scrape last week and had a few visitors stop by to check it out... A few little guys:
  10. The new bow has officially been broken in!!! This doe came out with two buttonbucks at very last light and I sent a Rocket Steelhead through her lungs @ 20yds. I had 5 bucks feeding out in the adjacent cornfield that was just chopped a few days ago. One was a 3.5 year old 8-pt that is definately on the hit-list. Think I'm gonna take the morning off from hunting to hang a stand where all of the bucks came out tonight... I shot her standing right about here...
  11. Don't listen to your taxidermist. The skull plate area is still going to shrink as it dries whether it's on the skull or cut-off seperately.
  12. You don't need the whole skull to get an official score...just the antlers on the intact skull plate.
  13. The hunter's brother posted these pics on archerytalk...
  14. A little more info here... http://www.nybowhunter.com/
  15. I was hoping that someone on here would have heard something. My initial reaction is that that score seems high but he does have a bunch of trash and it's hard to tell from a single photo...
  16. Heard anything about this bruiser NYantler?
  17. Saw this deer posted on Archerytalk.com... Wayne Long from Jefferson County put this hog down this morning (northern zone opener). 23 scorable points, scored at the taxi at 226 5/8. B&C has scheduled a scoring session and if confirmed it will crush the current record! *** Update on this story has been posted here:
  18. It's a possibility. I've seen several nice bucks in the past that were injured in the rear quarters and subsequently developed a funky antler on the opposite side the following year.
  19. I found this scrape last week while checking cams and it was ripped open over the weekend. I set a camera up on it yesterday. Maybe LFN will make an appearance on it...
