  1. You and me both. The Mossy Oak slogan says it best, "It's not a passion. It's an obsession!!!".
  2. There are still quite a few people out hunting. By next weekend things should be better and the deer should back into a feeding pattern. Good luck guys!!!
  3. It's definately not the first time that it's happened to me. In hindsight, I'm kinda glad that the moron did show up and ruin my hunt or I never would have seen that buck (he's the one I was sitting there waiting for in the first place).
  4. Seems like the monsters always get whacked by some half-azz hunter or by someone that is new to the game of deer hunting. Hope you get a crack at him...he's definately one of the largest typical bucks in the state this year!!!
  5. I wish he would stop showing up in the daylight where he's so visible from the road. Now, my goal has changed from killing him to picking up his sheds in a few weeks... What's the scoop with your big boy?
  6. Well, I had my evening hunt ruined by some idiot coming in on me an hour before dark. Apparently, he didn't care about by truck already being there and ended up sitting 40 yds away. Needless to say, I headed back to my truck all ticked off... I stopping to talk to a buddy of mine for a few minutes and on the way home I drove by the cloverfields on the backside of the woodlot that I had been hunting earlier and lo and behold the buck in my avatar was out there feeding with a yearling buck and a bunch of does. The property is owned by an anti-hunter so it serves as a sanctuary for the local deer. I watched through the binos as he got into a sparring match with the little 6-pt and payed no attention to the does? Boy, am I happy to see him alive and well after the first week of gun season. At the same time, it sucked to be within shooting range of the buck of a lifetime and not being able to pull the trigger!!! I think that I'm gonna have to pound a few beers now to drown my hunting sorrows... !!!
  7. Not true. It is illegal to posses the meat, hide or hoofs. It is not illegal to possess the antlers.
  8. Back in October I found a large 8-pt while out scouting one afternoon. I contacted the Region 8 office several days later and talked to an ECO for 10 minutes on the phone. He told me thad their job is to regulate the "deer on the hoof" (what's in the freezer), not the antlers. He said this subject has a lot of gray areas but it's best to call them in a situation like this. In a nutshell, he said that it would be up to the investigating officer's disgretion. At the end of the conversation he went on to say that this deer sounded like a car kill so it would be OK to go ahead and remove the antlers. I told him that I already had and he responded by saying to contact them first in the future. Honestly, after talking to him I was more confused about this matter than I was before??? I emailed another Region 8 ECO and here is the reponse that I got : "Hello Jason, there are no regulations that prohibit the removal of antlers from a dead deer provided the deer was not illegally killed."
  9. Nice 6-pt!!! I'd guess him to be a 3.5 year old.

  11. Awesome buck!!! Here's a monster typical that I saw on another forum. Not exactly sure of the details but I beieve it was taken in the Brockport area...
  12. Here's a nice one that was shot by one of my uncle's neighbors yesterday...
  13. Passed up several big does yesterday afternoon. Had to scratch an itchy trigger finger tonight...
  14. Sounds like WWIII in my neck of the woods this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I got out in the woods nice and early this morning...next thing you know I had 3 other people withing 150 yds of me. I was smack dab in the middle of them and didn't like the thought of getting shot so I was back in my truck by 7:15. Sitting home driking coffee now. Sounds like a fricken warzone!!! First shots of the morning were 6:23. Someone is blazing away across the road as I type this. Now someone behind the house is letting loose...
  16. Pulled my cams down today. I'll put them back up in a couple of weeks after things cool off from this weekend's orange invasion. Had a bunch of scrubs on one scrape and a pretty cool sequence of a buck chasing a doe. I hope he didn't catch her...don't want those genes being replicated!!! I've never laid eyes on this deer before... This guy is also a new face... I hope to catch up with the buck that made this rub tomorrow morning!!!
  17. My sentiments exactly. I look less and less foward to it every year for a variety of reasons...
  18. It sure is. I plant it in front of all of my trailcams. The deer love it...lol. Actually, it's just goldenrod.
  19. Nope, it's not my property and it's 15 miles NE of Charlie's place... !!!
