The trail cam pics from August were taken only a few hunded yards from where I saw him last night. All of the sightings/trailcam pics/sheds over the past three years have surrounded one section of woods there. He has a very defined home core area. As I mentioned, the major hurdle in hunting this guy is that this woodlot is owned by a couple of anti-hunters and I can't get in there to get the job done. Oh well, it was awesome just seeing a buck of this caliber on the hoof. I wish I would have had my video camera in the truck...

Finally, I laid eyes on target buck #1 again. The only other time that I have actually seen him was back in early July. I did manage to capture a few trailcam pics in mid-August and have spent a lot of time since then staring at these pics. I knew he was still around but he had remained elusive to this point. I'm about ready to throw in the towel for the 2012 bow season. I didn't go out last night with the warm temps and all the shooting going on in the area but I did take a drive around before dark to do some scouting. Unbelievably, I saw "Big Boy" tending a couple of does out in a field (the property owners are anti-hunters but they let me shed hunt the place). Man, what a monster he is with his big ole swelled up neckand bone white antlers!!! I watched him through binos for a couple of minutes as he watched over the does feeding out in the clover. I'll try hunting this guy the rest of the week in the mornings but I'm not too overly confident in seeing him. Gotta give it a try though...

A couple of weeks ago my uncle walked by this camera while heading back to his truck after his evening bowhunt. The very next set of pics was this guy coming down the same trail!!! It looked like he was tracking my uncle but it was 3 hours later.

I'm not much of a bear guy, but this guy looks pretty darn big!!! He's become a regular on my uncle's farm...

Well, since it was raining yesterday evening, I decided to take the night off from bowhunting to go after some turkeys that I'd been seeing. I hadn't been set-up for 5 minutes and a beautiful 3.5 year old 9-pt showed up. At one point he was only 15 steps from me. I know that I could have dumped him @ that range with a load of Hevi-13 to the neck!!! That SOB hung out within 25-30 yds for 25 minutes grunting and feeding on acorns before he crossed the gulley and headed up into the top vineyards. All I could do was sit there and watch him through the binos. A few minutes later I heard grunting and he came through hot on a doe's tail. She wanted nothing to do with him. I'm heading back there tonight with my bow...bet he doesn't show again...lol.

I admit, the last pic is kind of deceiving with the deer propped up on my legs. She dressed 125lbs. It's tough doing a one man photo shoot...gotta set the self timer and run back to get into position before the camera goes off. It's a pain in the butt...lol.

I just couldn't resist. The rut is kicking in and I'm shooting up all of the buck bait...lol. I'll be heading in after Big Boy this week sometime...

I sat out in the rain for a couple of hours tonight. This nice mature doe came out onto the field @ 5:40...I watched her for 10 minutes hoping a big buck would show up. Finally, she offered me a 10-yd. chip shot that I couldn't pass up. The Rocket Steelhead zipped through her like she wasn't even there, taking out both lungs and exiting through the heart. She made it 50 yds and piled up...

The deer was a 2011 roadkill from MA. That photo has been going around big time lately!!!

It's a fallow deer. We has a bunch of stags/does get loose in my hunting area several years ago. The neighbor had them and his ex-wife let them out one day. They have all died off now but my uncle did shoot a pretty nice one...

Pretty good. It needs another coat of 40% peroxide but I'm all out at the moment...
