  1. Just got back from the Depot, bought 7 Andersen windows after looking at everything out there. Andersen 400 series seem to be the best bang for the buck.
  2. 9* In Smithtown, heading out to Montauk to fill a tag. 10" on the ground- doesn't get any better than this!
  3. Congrats- one of my favorite guns. I use factory Nosler ammo, very happy with them.
  4. 3F LOOKING FOR A 3G....
  5. Looks like 2 different animals. Top 2 look like a bigger animal{coyote}? than the last picture{cat}?
  6. Great day out in Montauk- got a 'shed' buck first thing in the morning. My friend had a shot at one too otherwise it was quiet.
  7. Don't know if this has been posted yet. Huntersfordeer.org has an online petition you can sign against the proposed culling.
  8. Check stations are not that big a deal. I hunt in Maine and every deer must be checked and tagged at a station the same day it's harvested, mostly mom and pop places. They pull a tooth and weigh the deer, probably have a much better handle on it's deer herd than most states. Maine has no problem with it most towns have 2 stations and it's more remote than NY. Butchers wont take an animal without a state tag. Only problem would be getting places to sign up as check stations.
  9. Bad guys already have guns.
  10. There is no spring bear hunt in Maine, this hunt is on Tribal land the only license fee is a $300 tribal license not a state hunting license.
  11. They are not all filthy rich, Suffolk still has a lot of farms. It's the biggest agricultural county in the state. Very limited hunting access out there. The state also culled the herd in Sunken Meadow state park this summer, lots of shooting at night by DEC. Most of if not all the meat goes to the venison donation program.
  12. I hunt southern Dutchess and have never saw sign of a cougar. Saw a couple bears and a lot of coyote sign this year and they certainly have an impact on deer populations. Our deer sightings are down a little from previous seasons but not a lot, my daughter actually took her first deer on Friday!
  13. Had a lot of good days this year, Maine was great , didn't shoot but it is always nice to be up in the BIG woods! Hunted hard up in Dutchess Co. , again I didn't fill a tag but had a lot of great hunts..I was the only one not to tag out. I guess the best day was Dec. 31,last day of bow here on Long Island, took a nice doe. Saw 30 deer in the first 3 hours, all does and 1 nice 8 point. Was the first time bowhunting in several years.
  14. Hunting out at Hither Hills tomorrow. Rainy ,15mph winds and 50 degrees-wish me luck we're gonna need it!
  15. Good Luck tomorrow..leave a few for me. I have next Mon. at Hither Hills but will be out on standby a couple times too, maybe even tomorrow.
  16. John, Here in Smithtown the Town is removing stumps and repairing the sidewalks, your responsible for the driveway and apron.
  17. There are alot of emergency calls that you do not pull up to with lights and siren...bank alarms, robberies in progress, active shooters etc... doubt he was just trying to get around YOU.
  18. He's in Smithtown, off the Sagtikos
  19. Any recomendations for a shop in Suffolk County? A friend is looking to get back into bow hunting needs complete setup..Thanks
  20. Nothing worse than a thief! Once thought a vandal destroyed my trail cam as all the glass in the front was shatterred and the camera was spun around to the other side of the tree. Turns out a curious black bear was the culprit, moved the camera a couple hundred yards and he hit it again that afternoon! The "attacks" were 6 months appart...crazy bear didn't want his picture taken! Take a good look around the area maybe you"ll find it.
  21. I have used Danny in Oakdale for many years, several deer every year without any problem. You can drop off a deer at anytime, Danny is a great guy. Have had several mounts done there too..great work.
  22. Was at a friends house yesterday 02.29.12 and he tells me he's been seeing a couple does and a big buck in a 5 acre woodlot behind his house. We walked out back and sure enough 2 does run off followed by a big bodied 10 pointer. Anyone else still seeing antlers?
  23. Very true Shawnhu- my buddy took a 5 1/2 year old doe out in Hither Hills that weighed 72 lbs.Feeding on her already.
