  1. it cracks me up a little that people took my post as i think its doomsday. Said this is the biggest financial crisis in my lifetime. Not sure how thats really debateable. But I do think we see our way out of it, but to be totally unconcerned about it is head in the sand. We are strong and so is the country. But this will make us paddle hard for a bit at minimum. And we havent ever seen anything like it with more uncertainty to come.
  2. had a possum in the live trap this weekend but......not quite close enough to the apocalypse that he looked tasty in the least. Still have some turkey, venison, trout and a good batch of walleye fillets. And i plan to restock on all of them!
  3. Sylvan beach, within sight of my house, has multiple businesses that are just opening for the year after being closed for the winter. Multiple restaurants, bars, an amusement park. Now all are mandated closed until further notice. And president said today this could go til August. With the possibility of no income for months and tighter purse stings once it is lifted, which of those businesses has a chance to survive? 2020 will just reach so many pockets. It's a big snowball.
  4. Also these days stores are everywhere and supplies have always been right avaialble. Look at what a gas station sells these days. They are like mini grocery stores.
  5. She's a beauty!!!!!!!!! Better days of fishing are coming!!
  6. 911 business was closed for a day everywhere but NYC. And once we found out what it was things started up quickly. This is forecasted to be around thru July in August. And is global. Again I am far from panic, but I see this as the biggest economic challenge to our way of life I've seen in my lifetime. These things will linger if the govt has to bail out so much of it. It's gonna be a long haul. Tell the small businesses that just got told they cannot serve the public til further notice that it's a bump in the road..... You need to see it thru other's eyes.
  7. Like I said I think it will work out. But if you think it's nothing your kidding yourself. This will be far more than 2008. The biggest employer in our area just closed til further notice, schools won't reopen this year. I'm NOT in panic but I am a realist. Lots of families and businesses are gonna be without an income.
  8. I will leave you to your no worries. It's good to be you and retired I guess.
  9. In 2008 work wasn't closed til further notice. The president wasn't on every day. Your kidding yourself if you have NO concern. But wish I could think that way. I agree it prob will, but to be without concern with all the people that just went out of work today.... This is different. In my area I would say near a third of the workforce is closed off. And by the way I Hate Alex Jones. Lol
  10. If it hasn't gotten real for you yet...... Stores are working on plans for 10 people in at a time to shop. Think about the chaos that this would cause. Can't say in my lifetime that this isnt the biggest threat to our economy. If a run on cash happens at the banks. Hang on. I'm not a doomsday prepper guy. But if you don't see the possibility of what we have here your turning your head. And I don't mean the virus. I mean the ramifications. We are not far from statewide martial law. Businesses shutting down hard now. Dow is tanked, recession is in. Worse is possible. 3000 drop today. Not saying it will happen, but how can it not be considered that a crash is possible. Letting the virus run it's course might be better off.
  11. wait you cant leave- Pygmy and I are coming to live off the Nympho and he is packed and already smells like fish!
  12. Market has potential for a 5000 point drop today. Circuit breaker is a guarntee at 7%.
  13. AP said human trials start today - still 12-18 months out
  14. Good thing you shot a herd of deer this season
  15. Preaching to the choir here. I think trades and apprenticeship is a great way to go. College debt is so much for honestly a lot of classes that are a waste of time that you have to take and mandatory pay for. How many early childhood ed and arts degrees are being paid for and never used. Although you always want kids to follow a dream still it's also good to have options. I had a hard time sitting in business classes in college and wondering why the professor wasn't in business and was teaching there. And how we had to pay for his book for his class so he could skim off the top. Unless your a Dr or in a very specific tech area most of the classes in college are filler. Filler for the Universites pockets.
  16. Lol. Was waiting for a teacher to chime in. In a way this shutdown will be somewhat of a secondary social experiment. And although I agree that the younger generation needs more social interaction the question is do they? As they will frame how this takes place. Just as our parents look at smartphones we will grow old and our ideas will be looked on as the past as well. Don't want to muck up this thread, but found it interesting on a side note that we will be seeing how this takes in the next few months whether we like it or not.
  17. I agree with you but as the new generation gets to age of having children those thoughts are changing. I always saw this as a teen year away plan. That with increased tech and less social interaction i still think it's inevitable.
  18. Schools around here are doing meal plans to pickup or possible delivery in the area if needed. But I don't see them reopening for month left of school unless this goes away quick.
  19. With funding guaranteed for the 180 days I will be surprised if school reopens for the year at all.
  20. Haven't seen that yet, but I could certainly see this extending thru the rest of the school year
  21. It's going to work for the next month. Cause we have no choice.
