  1. Ah very good ideas, thanks guys. No kids and I'm better at stitching than the girlfriend though.
  2. My climbers Carry straps combined with the bare metal on my back is really making me not want to even bother if I'm going to be doing much walking in at all. I'm thinking pool noodle for against my back, but what suggestions does everyone have for replacing the straps?
  3. Maybe if I had a crossbow, id sit against a tree during those hot days we had.
  4. Dicks has some clearence estrus from last year for super cheap. Ya think it's even viable? I was thinking of going heavy handed with it next time I do a half day at the spot that I'm thinking of abandoning. Or maybe even dumping the whole thing in front of a local camera just to see if it gets any attention. I'm also curious if it will have a repellent effect since it's certainly not "fresh" anymore.
  5. Left work early to get another afternoon sit in. No deer but I did see mama and cub again... thinking I need to choose a new portion of public land so get my odds of deer to be better.
  6. I'm new to hunting but I've seen lots of good feedback on here about ever calm. I use the fresh earth spray on my clothes, and the two bear from last night while ground sitting didn't mind me any.
  7. I'd say it's about time. I was really kicking myself yesterday for forgetting to bring my battle bag. Scents are absolutly coming with me tomarrow afternoon.
  8. They must have known they aren't on the menu for me, the first one looked me right in the eyes before walking right on past me.
  9. I managed to get an hour sit in tonight before sunset. Sat against a tree looking down a trail and had two different bear walk 20 feet in front of me. Beautiful animals.
  10. Not targeting bear, but I sure did notice a TON of bear poo when I was out the other day.
  11. At dicks we have a bow scale, maybe your local one will let you get a measurement off it if you do any adjustments
  12. Just got back to my truck too. The bitterness took a long time to wear off after I spooked the doe I saw, and I kept running into some thick stuff I couldn't imagine penetrating and such. I did see a whole lot of bear poo. I managed to even step in some.
  13. Well, they don't survive being deaf or blind ... I was watching my foot when I was steppin over the topportunity of a hill and when I looked up I saw a whole bunch of white ass waving goodbye
  14. Hoping to be out of the house in half an hour and doing a stalk today. Here's hoping to a good day.
  15. I can only blame myself for not scouting the public land I'll be using, nor the land a friend will let me use. First deer in range of either sex that's not tiny(also no doe with fawn) will have an arrow heading it's way. After my first day out at my friends I'll pull the cam photos and we'll starting working on a plan on who we will want to target. Any size rack will be a trophy to me. if I can I'm hoping to eat only the meat i kill until I run out. Except for my girlfriends chicken. Only a fool would go without the chicken that she makes.
  16. I do the backpack too. It's my outermost layer anyway so it's never a thought.
  17. First time I did a practice run of my climber(viper summit) i found it kind of terrifying. After I got used to it, I'm not so concerned. Grabbed a new harness and now I'm happy. I ran out of light installing my ladder so I haven't gotten to sit in it so I'm not sure how I feel about it yet.
  18. This makes a lot more sence now. I'll have to experiment with that.
  19. I've certainly got the patience to wait for the sun to come up, and if not I'll easily be able to take a nap.
  20. Currently I'm only hunting public land, that I hardly know well at all. Last time I was out I was up the tree with about 45 min to go before legal sunrise, and I could have swore I spooked an elephant on my way up the tree. What I'm curious of is if I get up the tree at least two hours or more before sunrise, will I end up possiy spooking more deer or will any disturbance settle down for the area to be traveled by some other wandering deer?
  21. I was incredibly excited to have a lighted pin set up come with my bow until I tried to use it during practice. So far where I've hunted I'll either see the deer or I wont. The light is going to do me more harm than good. Who knows about the next stretch of land though...
  22. Those are the arrows I've tuned my bow and sights on at 26in 53/59#. I've got a consistent seperation between the two spines on my target. My personal results I'd say are because of a .7 grain per inch bump up.
  23. Same guy, pretty much his extended talk about it, with some some editing.
  24. Maybe wire tie a bit of cherry wood under the muffler? ;-)
  25. Morning everyone manged to mske more noise than a bag of cats but I'm finally in the tree. Somehow can't get my seat to work so I might be standing until true light
