Similarly, live from my office where I eat my $14 salad from Chop't surfing through this forum and thinking about which pair of boots I want to wear tomorrow morning. -
Yea, still probably 6+ unless something smaller is unique. Passed up smaller bucks the last 2 years in a row after shooting a 4pt. opening day of 2012.

Some issues with the title because a survey was not done to prove the exact acreage, so although both parties signed the contract. My parents will most likely force the seller to pay for a survey. Might not close on the land this hunting season after all. But that's ok, because making sure everything is legit is more important (of course).

Exciting time for sure. I am heading to camp (my parents house) tonight around 8pm. I'll be leaving Westchester County and making the long 6-7 mile drive trek to Putnam County. Hoping to be there before 8:10pm.

Good luck to all tomorrow let's see the view at first light.

Gotta love opening day. 3 of my 6 NY bucks were shot on opening day! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yup, thx! Makes things unique this year. I haven't decided what type of buck it would take for me to shoot opening day and then not have that buck tag for new property. Probably a 6 or better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thursday 11/19 and Friday 11/20: no hunting by either of us. We will be out tomorrow for opening day of shotgun season. Unfortunately, my Dad still hasn't closed on the property he is buying hoping next week...... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wow I missed a lot. Just to clarify. My moms side of the family is from North Tonawanda so I am familiar, very familiar with western NY. In fact, my brother goes to Pharm school at UB. If I was going to leave the $ I make in NYC, it wouldn't be to move to western or upstate NY. I'd rather move out west to Arizona or Colorado or Wyoming where you can live in civilization still but hunt a variety of species, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

44 miles south of where you live. I know because we live in the same town.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Wednesday 11/18: while I was at work, my dad hunted dark to dark and saw a nice 8pt at 11:10am walking by at 80yds. He tried bleat and grunt to no avail. Couldn't get the buck inside 80yds and no chance at stalking as the buck kept moving. My dad will stay out of our spot the next 2 days, so hopefully one of us gets a crack at this guy with the shotgun Saturday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I haven't lived in NYC since 2009, but it is the greatest city in the world. I would be fine never going back but the $ it pays allows me to enjoy many things in life that I couldn't otherwise enjoy, and hopefully retire in my mid 50s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Crazy hunting tactic that has worked (or almost worked)?
BizCT replied to sampotter's topic in Deer Hunting
I used that technique many times Mule Deer hunting. Big draws that you can't get into or see into. Start throwing rocks down and watch the bucks stand up and come running out. -

By the way, oddest tactic I have been a part of was antelope hunting during their rut. Bucks chasing does everywhere, took a white paper towel and waved it like a little flag and bucks came running thinking its a doe. I didn't invent this, but had read about it working and it definitely does. -

Cool story. I love spot and stalk. Have done it a few times in PA on smaller bucks (illegal to shoot), but just for the fun of it to see how close I could get. My dad spot and stalked a buck this year but missed at 32yards. We hunt from the ground (no blind) so its easier to do, then climbing down a treestand first.
