  1. A forum on crossbows was held May 22 at the state Capitol, where, for several hours, anyone wishing to speak for or against crossbow hunting in New York would be heard. There were 13 that spoke at this forum, and ALL were pro-crossbow. Where was that group of New York Bowhunters whose web site plainly states that they “are opposed to any weapon, other than those bows drawn, held and released by hand in any archery season or archery season-only area?” It seems to me that NYB has given up. The result is inevitable.
  2. Better yet, when I win, please send the $1,000 to http://www.nycrossbowcoalition.com/ on my behalf. Again, I am 100% serious. I will sign a contract with you.
  3. Belo - Put your $ where you mouth is if your so confident. $1,000 bet. Crossbows allowed in archery season in New York in 2014, 2015, or 2016 = I win 2017 or later = You win. I am 100% serious. We can sign a contract.
  4. I'm sorry to hurt your feelings, but many other states disagree with you, including NJ and PA, and soon to be CT. It's only a matter of time before NY allows xbow hunting in the archery season. It didn't happen in 2013, it might not happen in 2013, but it will happen within the next few years, at most.
  5. what about those "throw and grow" products? I never used them, but once read that you can throw them down in september for the fall hunting.
  6. + 1. Seamless web is a wonderful thing. However, I did go to driving range last night. It was a nice night.
  7. The compound bow is more accurate due to the fact of a consistent anchor point. String loops have become a must for extreme accuracy. The arrow sits between the string loop knots and the release is held on the string loop in the same place every time making it very accurate. The crossbow has to be drawn and locked into a latch where the consistent string position can be compromised, allowing for the arrow to hit the left or to the right of the target. This is why Competitive Compound Bow Shooters score higher than Cross Bow Shooters in the same tournament.
  8. That's incorrect. Yes, xbows are "easier" to shoot. However, in competitions, compounds beat the crossbows majority of the times. Can't draw back and hold.
  9. I'd be curious to see how much $ NYS loses this year because of the crossbow ban. The last 2 years, I bought the late ML/Bow tag, I think its $21, so I can hunt with the crossbow. This year, I took my archery hunter's safety course and planned to buy an archery license to hunt with the xbow during the archery. Instead, I am back to just buying my gun license.

  11. Yup, NY loses license $. I wouldn't be hunting in CT or PA if I could hunt during archery season in NY. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  12. No clue. Never been on canned hunt, never will. You can hunt with an xbow on NJ, PA, and CT, so why do a canned hunt in NY? Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  13. By the way, getting engaged soon and married after that. So multiple hunting trips each won't be continuing. That's why I went nuts the last couple of years lol.
  14. My Minnesota Bobcat hunt was on public land as well. Here's the link to my report after my trip to PA in 2011 > http://huntingny.com/forums/topic/4270-trips-booked/?hl=%2Btrips+%2Bbooked bottom of page 1. I had planned to get a hotel and hunt PA for about a week. I figured paying $600 for food, lodging, and some advice was a pretty good deal. Hotel & Food would have cost me that anyway. I saw a ton of deer, so I was very happy with the trip. I have no leases besides the $500 to hunt CT for the year. I've thought about buying land, but even say $30-$40K cash on land seems like a waste to me in NY, where I can only hunt whitetails and possibly bear, when it comes to big game. I prefer a variety of species and enjoy not having to watch my land, pay taxes on it, etc. For now, hunting in NY for whitetails (free), $600 to hunt PA, and $500 to hunt CT, seems like the best deal for me. 3 states, lots of tags, and not crazy expensive. Also, November and December is my busy season at work. Only allowed 2 days off each of those months. So basically, I only hunt weekends in NY. Just can't justify buying land, especially something far away. I hunt Putnam County, 40 minutes from my house, 10 minutes from my parents house. It's very convenient and although I'll never kill a booner in 3N, I've had a lot of success over the years.
  15. As long as you have 80 in writing you should be able to get out of it Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. Semi guided. Pre season scouting, Food and lodging is included. You arrive on Sunday and the guy who runs it shows you some spots. All the hunting is on state land. Little General Outfitters. I hunted with them in 2011. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. Heading to PA again this fall to hunt with the xbow. I will post some of the trail cam pics from the area that get sent to me. Here's 2 so far.
  18. It will never happen in our lives.....I think the PA elk thing started like 30-40 years, and they only like 20 to be taken each year.
  19. What a dumb comment. I heard the "upstate" classes are just watching movies and eating donuts.
  20. Time for a "Hunting NY Fight Club" to be formed.
  21. I do like Victorino. I enoy all the guys who play really hard, Pedroia too.
  22. I am approved by the state of CT to hunt with my xbow during archery season. Thanks for the advice, but I can only really hunt saturdays there since Sunday hunting is prohibited. Being that I don't hunt many days, when I do hunt, it is always dark-dark. Can't shoot a deer from the couch.
  23. Cool, thanks for the info. The latest I got a buck with velvet on trail cam last year was 8/26, so I guess the odds are slim for 9/16. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
