  1. My girlfriend, soon to be fiance (ring will be ready for pickup in 2 weeks) is from the same town as me. We always knew of each other but never were in the same school. She was 8th grade (middle school) when I was in 12th. She was in the same grade as my brother. She was the "hottest" girl in the grade according to my bro and his friends. Anyway, flash ahead to when I was 24 and living in NYC, her brother (older than me) lived in the same neighborhood (upper east side). I ran into all of them out one night in nyc, she was now 20. We hit it off, she said her and her friends always had on a crush on me (the older kid). We have been together ever since. A year later, I moved out of the city back to my parents and did the long commute to nyc to save $ and be closer to her. It was the smartest thing I ever did. Never rented again, bought a place in westchester county in '11, she moved in last October. It's been over 4 1/2 years now together, I'm 29 now, she's 25. Engagement will be this summer. 2. Every bowshop in putnam and westchester counties sell crossbows. You can shoot xbows at their ranges. I shot mine and bought mine from flying arrow sports. They beat cabelas prices. Now I practice in my parents backyard. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  3. And new York city and westchester county (mt Vernon). Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  4. You should just sell it for 25% of what you paid for it. I will buy it. lol
  5. Yup, I went to Dick's in Danbury, CT last Saturday. I did not need a thing. Ended up with lead egg sinkers (which I can't buy in NY), treble hooks, a wind indicator spray, etc.
  6. BizCT

    Finally got my

    Nice, who did the work?
  7. I honestly think it is impossible to walk through the Hartford Cabelas and not buy a single item. I always feel like a kid in a candy store. I can't even walk through Dick's and not buy something hunting and/or fishing related.
  8. Cool, thanks. But then what is my reason to my girlfriend as to why I need to walk around Cabelas (Hartford) for 2 hours? lol.
  9. Can't I just sit it on the ground next to me?
  10. Thanks guys. I'm going up to Boston in a few weeks, on the way home I plant to stop at Cabelas. I will check them out there.
  11. Back to back all-star (Hanarahan) is out for the year, but we got Koji Uehara!!!! Uehara = 42.1 IP, 1.70 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, 12.8 K/9IP, 7.5 K/BB ratio. Papelclown = 38.2IP, 2.33 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, 7.9 K/9IP, 5.7K/BB ratio. Not bad for a fraction of the price.
  12. excuse me for being ignorant, but how do they work? battery/butane? do they smell?
  13. Thanks all. One last question, will mosqitoes be an issue? I don't spring turkey hunt, so i don't know what its like. Should I look into getting one of those thermacell gadgets?
  14. I use something called silent weave or something like that. It's from cabelas. It's light and very quiet, I pair it with a ghillie style mask. It looks and works great in NY. In the pic, I'm in the Arizona desert, but you get the idea. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  15. 100# is even cooler. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  16. I've honestly never hunted with anyone in NY but my Dad. We always obey all laws n regulations, that's how I was taught. That being said from word of mouth in the area, etc. I do know of people who cheat with Texas style corn feeders and use a rifle caliber t/c during ML season. It's shotgun county, so being able to shoot 200-300 yards is a big difference. I could imagine these same guys hunting with an xbow during archery on their big private lands and then bringing their deer to a butcher with the arrow wound and say it was a bow kill. I'm sure this stuff goes on all over New York. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  17. I'm talking about the guys who already cheat with guns in ML season, Texas style feeders, etc. The bad guys, not the good guys. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk 2
  18. $10K probably isn't even worth it to biggest scumbags.
  19. I bought a crossbow in the spring of 2011 to use in PA during archery season and NY during late ml/bow season. I do not own a ML, I could have bought a ML if I wanted an "easier" option.
  20. I have never been on a canned hunt in my life, never will (if that's what you are lamely trying to imply). You sound like a guy who has never outside of New York for whatever reasons, but its certainly not by choice. Any true outdoorsman would love to hunt other states or around the world. That's too bad for you. Hopefully, someday you enjoy hunting more than just whitetail day. But remember, you can't just go to any state or province and hunt on your own. In some places that's illegal. I don't recall off the top of my head, but I know British Columbia is 1 of them. I'm headed there in December. "All non-resident hunters wishing to hunt big game in the province of British Columbia must be accompanied by a registered guide or accompanied by a resident who holds a Permit to Accompany." Lastly, if I or anyone wanted to "avoid challenges" why would I/we buy a crossbow? I would just always hunt with a gun if I didn't want the challenge of hunting with a crossbow.
  21. I'd love to shoot a wolverine.
  22. I will just hunt in CT and PA. However, I would bet there are a lot of people who will hunt with xbows during archery this season in New York, just like the guys who hunt with those interchangeable T/C's, and use rifles or shotguns during ML season.
