  1. oh ok....looks just like the type of bucks I see in Putnam County (shotgun only)...thought maybe you were from the same area.
  2. Wish I could....tried many times...I had a bad snowboarding accident and I separated my shoulder, grade 3....never did the surgery, rehabbed it well enough I can play golf, etc....the pulling motion of drawing back a bow just doesnt work for me....can barely get back 40lbs....my only option would be to shoot lefty, but I am right eye dominate, and shoot shotguns/rifles righty....one bow pro suggest i wear an eye patch and try to shoot a compound lefty.
  3. Yea, Im buying one to extend my season to NJ and PA early seasons, then in NY for late season....but I wish the late season for Crossbow was longer than 1 week or whatever it is. why not make it 2 full weeks?
  4. Is the NYS Crossbow Law/Bill set in stone for the next 2 years? I'm curious because I see the NYS law is the crossbow max draw weight is 200lb. but Pennsylvania has no max. So I plan on buying a 200lb. crossbow, but if they change the draw weight to no max, id go with a 225lb. or what if they lessen the max, and now my crossbow is illegal?

  6. wasn't the crossbow type weapon created thousands of years before a compound bow? why do some compound bow hunters care so much about the crossbow? I hunt in shotgun only county, and if they came out and legalized a more efficient shotgun that could be used my area, I would do 1 of 2 things. 1. Continue usuing my shotgun I already have. or 2. Upgrade to these newer/more efficient version, if I really liked it better. so why dont compound bow hunters who complain, just stay with their compound bows OR buy a crossbow?

    Trophy Room

No, he has never done any taxidermy work. I would say the last 15-20 years worth was done by a guy named Kurt Fox, in Cold Spring, NY........before meeting Kurt, I am not sure who he used.

    Trophy Room

My Dad's trophy room. Not bad for a guy who grew up in the Bronx and Yonkers. All animals taken from U.S. & Canada. My Michigan Whitetail, Alberta Coyote, and NY Raccoon.
  10. Was doing a search on the guide my Dad used to get 2 wolves in British Columbia and found the video from his hunt on Youtube. Both made Top 5 in British Columbia History, the biggest one being # 2 all-time in British Columbia
  11. Never hunted Bear in NY, but what if you bring a dozen dunkin donuts, etc as your lunch....and leave it open next to you to snack on all day?
  12. Been there done that....if drugs are your thing, then you move onto more serious ones, not a middle school drug that makes you lazy...something that can help you party through a week straight at the winter music coneference in South Beach or Ibiza, etc...i just think its funny that people who graduated college, still smoke.
  13. Weed was cool in middle school....then you are suppose to grow up.
  14. there is going to be a Live 1300 pound brown bear at the Hunting/Fishing show this weekend at Rockland Community College.....
  15. Thanks....Im going 10/30-11/6 for my first crossbow hunt. I'll happily take a big 6, but have seen some trail cam pics of nice 8's 9's and 10's.
  16. Thanks for the info. I am not interested in an anterless tag. Looking to hunt in Clearfield County in 2G (Penfield area)...I am hearing reports of hunters seeing many bucks in a week's worth of hunting there, over food plots, etc.
  17. Anybody have any success hunting for Turkey in Putnam County? Thinking about giving it a shot this spring....never tried before. I have seen them during deer season.
  18. I dont have a compound...but it could be 2012, considering NJ and PA already allow them in the early Bow season.
  19. I agree, but I think the issue with Westchester is because of how the houses are so close together, etc.....but living in Putnam County, id love to be able to use the crossbow in westchester.
  20. Yup, it will be changed in 2012. It will be just like Pennsylvania. I am buying my first crossbow this spring. Going on a hunt in PA for Deer early November, back to NY for shotgun season, then give the crossbow a try again in NY for the late ML/Bow season. By 2012, the crossbow will be allowed throughout all of early bow just like in Pennsylvania. I think the exception might still be Westchester County, and Long Island.
  21. PM me....not quite sure what your talking about? I know different counties do have different rules...Dutchess ( the county just north of Putnam) only gives full-carry no restrictions....westchester county (just south of putnam) is almost impossible to get a permit, and NYC is forbidden....these 4 regions are all within 50 miles of each other.
  22. In Putnam County there are 3 types of Permits. I have heard that nobody gets an Unrestricted without being a police officer....however, you can apply for an upgrade from your "Hunting and Target." My "Additional Cause" for wanting an upgrade is 2 things. 1. When I drive 4-5 hours in the middle of the night to go fishing, and then walk into the woods in the pitchblack. I am not hunting or target shooting, so I cannot carry unless I am given the unrestricted. 2. When I stay in a hotel/motel overnight to go hunting. I cannot carry the pistol into the hotel with me, so I would have to leave my pistol locked up in my car through the night, till the morning when I can carry it out hunting. We'll see what happens....I am in the process now.
