I'm all in on 308 .... heck 100 yds... 30/30. 35 remington 350 legend ... they all will work.

I dont have that much experience with them . Last year I shot a doe with my crossbow using rage broadhead. I hit high and dropped her but the blood was unbelievable. Hit the artery along the spine and it sprayed everywhere. Hardly any blood in the body when I dressed her out .

I probably had the best day hunting in many years .I had a lot of opportunities to fill my buck tag today . I had fun calling in 5 different bucks . Watched a couple flocks of turkeys. Watched a sharpie take a squirrel off a tree branch not 20 yds from me . Watched a young buck run my drag line 3 times around before realizing he was running circles . Just a great day to be in the woods.- 9790 replies

I hunt 29 acres . Real thick stuff. I have 4 stands running for the most part north to south acrossed property. Property is a basic rectangle.. stands run narrower sides. Stands are set up in pines that were left after clear cutting 25 years ago.. I hunted 4 hrs saturday and 9 hours yesterday. Most deer came from behind me but I was never busted . Even with the wind in my face all day. Forgot to set the alarm today so I didn't get up to go this morning . I usually sit 2 days and give it a day rest and go fishing or something . After seeing the 8 pt yesterday I really want to be there. What do you guys think ?

Wow ... just freaking wow. I would definitely get buck fever -
On the way out yesterday I saw 2 groups of does feeding in fields . 300yds from them there was a buck feeding all by his self. Stopped and watched for a little while . He ate like it was his last supper. Just mowed along feeding away from the does.

8y .... they reopened all the scrapes after I sprayed doe estrus on them .

Had a little buck chasing a doe grunting yesterday. A 2.5 year old walked up said doe and wandered away. Had what I thought was a doe walk my scrape line and then my drag line . At 5 yds I could see the tiniest needle like horns . First time I have ever seen that . Hocks were snow white on it . No grunting . 8pt wasn't bird dogging or grunting just following along .

So had to head out at 10 am nature's call dog had to go to . Picked up a trail cam , extra hunting knife , binoculars, all left on my bench this morning. I'm back in as of 12. Planning on sitting until dark. Finally some piece and quietblooks like squirrels are midday napping. All the scrapes that were covered yesterday are back open . I sprayed a squirt of doe e in each one . -

Had a little 4pt chase a doe by me grunting . She runs over and beds about 60 yds away in.some pines . Little buck wanders over and stands over her. Hear a grunt from behind me here comes a great 3.5 8 pt . Stops 33 yds I shoot and hit a branch driving the arrow in the dirt under his belly. Wtf ..... lol loving it . -

Back in for the evening in 8y . Been in for 45 minutes . Made the walk in in shorts and a tshirt. Had a button and doe fawn sneak through. While I was getting dressed. Just after I got settled I had a 4pt work a scrape at 40 yds. The squirrel brigade is out in full force. -

Well flooding doesn't seem to be as bad as last summer. From what I can see there is debris but doesn't look like alot of rock . Too dark to tell. House stayed dry ... thank god ! Wont know for sure until I get home from work . Hopefully it dries out enough to remove before it freezes in for the winter.

Have to wonder what Pine valley ... Millport and Mountour is looking like. The stream is Catherine's creek.
